3 days?!
Hello ladies!

I’ve been pretty much M.I.A. these past few months... and I'm beginning to find that it's pretty common among brides who's wedding is right around the corner. But now that I'm 3 days away, and that my last update was 3 months ago, I feel like it's only fitting that I post something before our big day.

I really can’t believe how incredibly fast the last weeks have gone by. Everything is in order and I’m ready for walk down the aisle (except for that pesky speech we gotta give at the reception... still need to figure that one out!). The only real advice I have for you is don’t sweat the small stuff; and I've had a lot of small stuff to sweat over. I’ve had bridesmaid trouble, I found A LOT of bad reviews for my limousine provider, and for some reason my DJ doesn’t seem too keen on answering his emails (though I trust him because they’re an actual radio station here in Ottawa and they were the DJ at both my sister-in-law and brother-in-law’s weddings, and they were awesome), and the stupid weather channel keeps playing tricks on us by giving us storms on the day of one day, and a bright sun the next... but in the end, all that matters is that I walk down that aisle and marry the love of my life. That's it. If we can manage that much, the rest is just peanuts.

Speaking of peanuts, I developed this trick to calm myself whenever something frustrating happened. When I got engaged, my Dad told me that all I needed to do was to book my date, the reception venue, and get my dress. The rest of it was just peanuts. So now, when something happens, I just think about the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, and how she has ZERO control over her day, and then tell myself that all the small stuff, the bickering and the problems, are just peanuts if I can just marry FH. There really is a difference between looking forward to your wedding and then to your marriage. I can't wait for my marriage to start. I can't wait for the wedding planning to end. I'm ready to get married.

Basically all that’s left to do now is to attend our rehearsal this Thursday, then host our rehearsal dinner. Friday will be quite busy (I’ve taken the day off of work), since I’ll be bringing my favours and everything else to the reception venue for them to set up once the decorator is finished on Saturday. After that I'm heading straight to my parents house, where I will stay until the wedding =)

Also, just because I’ve been going a little crazy lately looking for different “big events” music for the reception and couldn’t find much, I’m going to share my picks with you girls. Maybe they’ll help one of you out!

Reception entrance for both the wedding party and the bride and groom:
Tonight, by Seether (it’s got a good beat to it and the lyrics are great)

First dance:
Hanging by a moment (acoustic), by Lifehouse (always knew this was going to be our song)

Father/daughter dance:
Forever young, by Matthew Morrison (yes yes, this version of the song comes from Glee. But people who don't watch Glee won't know that, because it's all Matthew!)

Bouquet toss:
Girls just want to have fun, by Cyndi Lauper (ok, yeah... not so different, but a classic!)

Garter toss:
A little less conversation, Elvis Presley (JXL Remix) (FH Really surprised me with this one, and I think it’s awesome!)

So even though I didn’t post very often, and recently hardly had time to post on anyone else’s blog, I just wanted to say that I really appreciated this website and that sharing my wedding details with you might have kept me sane! It’s way too much info to keep to yourself for 2 years lol I hope you all have the best of luck with the rest of your wedding planning, and that you have the most beautiful wedding day ever! I’ll be sure to post some pictures when I get them!

Lots of love!

3 months!
94 days to go...

And I just changed my flower arrangements. I found my new bouquet and totally and completely fell in love with it! Naturally it made me change everyone else's flowers... but it's totally worth it :)

We'll be hitting the 3 month mark in just 4 days, and I can't believe we'll finally/already be able to go buy our wedding licence! Crazay! Surprisingly I have a lot done, so I'm not freaking out about anything yet. I'm currently searching for a printing company to print my invites. That's my task this week.

Before the 2 month mark I need to pick my music for the ceremony, in case I want something the musician needs to learn. I doubt it. I'm seriously considering asking him to play "Marry Me" by Train, the purely acoustic version, and then play whatever the heck he wants. I don't know the first thing about picking classical music for a wedding!

Hope you're all doing well ladies :)

Honeymoon
We're going to Italy!
Hi ladies!

So much has happened since the last time I spoke with any of you... I got a job, for one! Yuppers, my very first real job right outta university. I work 8.5 hours a day which kinda keeps me busy, and ensures that I don't get home too early! But I love it :)

Fact is, I haven't had much time to do anything else other than plan this wedding! A lot has been purchased and booked. But right now, I wanna talk about my honeymoon. I love travelling, and want to see the whole world. FH loves travelling, but couldn't care less about where we go. Result? I have carte blanche when it comes to choosing where to go, and I can't decide! Well it turned out that we picked Italy, because of the cost of travelling in July. We originally wanted to visit several countries, but the plane was just crazy expensive. We are flying to Florence the day after the wedding, and then spending the first week in Cecina, in Livrono. It's right on the beach, and perfect to relax after months of crazy wedding planning. It's also relatively close to Rome, so we can plan a day trip.

Week two, we take the train back to Florence and then the fun & exploring begins. From there, we're going to visit Venice, Lucca, Pisa, and Viareggio. We're going to spend a whole day driving through Florence on a Vespa (sweeet), and try a self-guided tour of Florence. I can't wait! It took us a while to figure out where we were going... I originally wanted to tour Britain, and visit the Harry Potter Studios in London... but of course my honeymoon falls at the same time as the summer Olympics in London. Already high prices were shot through the roof, and yeah... Next time though!!

Where are you going?

So excited!!
Hi ladies!!

Yes, I've been MIA again but I'm so excited about this that I had to share NOW! Who knew wedding planning when it involves a whole bunch of DIY projects is so time consuming? HA!

I ordered my wedding favours a couple of weeks ago and purchased the wrapper I thought I wanted. Turns out IT'S AWESOME! :D

I purchased the personalized Kisses from theknot.com. For you Canadian brides, they don't ship in Canada. If you live close to the border, however, you can set up a PO box and just drive down and get your order! Also, these are always on sale!

Next, I bought the boxes and ribbon at Michaels for super cheap, because God knows everything is always on sale there, and they give HUGE weekly coupons! GO!

I'm going back shopping tonight to buy more boxes and ribbon, and possibly the material I need to come up with my table numbers. I'll show you if I manage to succeed ;)

Flower girl dress
My little flower girl
Hi ladies! Long time no see... so sorry about that! I'm sure you can all appreciate how busy the holidays have been, in addition to finally finishing university!

I just wanted to share some updates with you all. The bridesmaids have finally all made their deposits for their dresses, meaning that the order has finally been sent off. We have also found my little flower girl's dress. It matches the bridemaids dresses (see in a post below), and cost only $30 on ebay! How cute and awesome is that?! We tried on a few dresses in stores and they all costs just as much as the bridesmaids dresses, which is CRAZY. The kid will be 3 years old at the wedding and will be wearing the dress for a maximum of 6 hours. If any of you are interested, the seller's name on ebay is capesforalloccasions .

Everything has been going smoothly so far. I've just inlisted my cousin, a graphic designer, to create my invitations and all other stationary. I can't wait to get started on those!

Wedding Cake
The Cake Whisperer
Got me my ceremony musician and wedding cake baker!

I'm feeling productive recently. I've booked my wedding cake with the Cake Whisperer, a home-based bakery in Kanata, Ontario. Cathy, the owner, is an incredible artist and I can't wait to see my cake when she's done with it! Check out her website: http://cakewhisperer.ca/index2.html

Additionally, I've booked my ceremony musician! I'm a big fan of the acoustic guitar, so it was a no brainer to me that it's what I wanted for my ceremony. I've booked with Dave Milliken, a professional musician. You can listen to a few of his clips on his website, he's pretty good! AND he's willing to learn new songs if we want something that's not on his repertoire. It's great! His website: http://www.davemilliken.com/

Not bad for someone going through her final university exams :P

Found our dresses!
Hi ladies!

So as I mentioned yesterday, I went shopping with my bridesmaids today to hopefully find their dress. We did! And I'm so happy, because I'm in love with these dresses! Yes, dresseS ;)

My sister, who is my maid of honour, didn't look so great in the dress we all loved. She's 17, and she's a smaller fit than the others. So we found her a dress from the same collection that looked great on her. We went with http://www.billlevkoff.com. The Bridesmaids will wear the dress 679, while my maid of honour will wear the dress 521. They're perfect!

Happy! :)

USA ain't the only country out there you know...
Hey ladies, I'm getting pretty annoyed up here in my little Canadian home. I'm looking for purple shoes to wear at my wedding, and obviously these aren't easy to come by. I have, however, found two that I absolutely LOVE on the internet. They are the perfect height and colour. My problem? Most online stores DO NOT ship anywhere but to the USA. WTF?? Or the websites that actually do ship outside the USA charge $50 shipping plus border fees, hence tripling the cost of the shoes! AAAAHHHHHH. Really, Canada ain't that far, especially where I'm at. In fact, I'm so close to the border that I'm seriously considering opening a P.O. box across the border and driving down to pick them up myself. Are there any other Canadian brides out there with this problem?

On a happier note, I have booked my florist! And no, it's not the one who cancelled my appointment because she was so busy and late in her day's work. The florist I went with is charging me far less than this one, and yet is charging me extra for shipping because he's further out in the country. FH and I also completed our pre-martial counselling weekend required by our church. It was three very intense days of sit and listen.. but we lived through it. I just finished paying for my dress, hooray!! AAaand I'm going out shopping with my bridesmaids tomorrow to pick out a dress, hopefully. I really want them all to wear the same thing, but damn it's hard to please everyone. What happened to the days when the bride was all that mattered? I'm not trying to be selfish here but it seems today like EVERYONE has to look amazing. I've got a few challenges on my hands:

1. One bridesmaid is currently losing weight she gained from her last two pregnancies. So... she's pushing for us to buy as late as possible so she can spend less in alterations. Also, she's a different body shape than the rest and she's got a very strong opinion... what fits her best doesn't necessarily fit the others...
2. One bridesmaid just had a baby, and flipped out over having to buy a dress so soon. Well, sorry hun, you knew it was coming. But now she's also pushing to wait as long as possible so she can drop the weight.
3. One bridesmaid just announced that she's pregnant, and will be 9 MONTHS pregnant at the wedding. Now we definitely need to shop for a flowy dress that will cover the belly, or that can be altered to fit a belly.

I'm currently finishing my last semester of university, and that's the main reason I haven't been on here much... I can't wait to finish it all! After that I'll be able to concentrate on working (finding a job) and the wedding! Wish me luck!

Got my decorator! :D
I'm suuuper happy with what I'm getting!!

The decorator was incredibly nice, the company is called Dahlia Event Production (http://www.dahliaottawa.com/) for those of you in the Ottawa, Canada region. For a very reasonable price I get my table linen for all the guest tables, the head table, the guest book table and the cake table, satin sashes (the venue provides the chair covers), Ambient lighting and a Gobo Design, and my centre pieces. They set up and clean up. AND I get to keep my centre pieces! Woohoo!

I'm going for crinkled eggplant table linen for every table, a cotton white chair cover with satin white sashes. My centre piece is going to be 4 hydrangea stems in a square bowl with rocks at the bottom. Two curly willow branches will stick out and there will be a small LED purple light at the bottom of every vase to light it up!

Can't wait!! This feels so huge to me... Like I'm finally getting somewhere with my planning!
