We're not having a ring bearer, and until I started reading wedding blogs, I didn't know there were other ways to incorporate the presentation of the wedding bands into the ceremony. Have you ever heard of a ring warming ceremony? It's where the rings are passed around the guests, and each takes a moment to hold the rings, and bless, wish, or pray over them before the couple exchanges them. It seems the prop of choice among those doing the ring warming these days is a ring dish, which you could then keep on your dresser or display elsewhere in your home. I've been stalking the dishes on Etsy, aren't they gorgeous? (I included seller names, in case you want to check them out!) I've never been to a wedding that's done a ring warming, but it sounds just lovely. I'm not sure how it would work for a ceremony with over 150 guests, but I'm going to think about it and see if it might be something we'd like to do.
Thanks for the idea!
We included it in our ceremony script; if you want to read it, you can do so here. Now that we're doing our reception before our ceremony (cuh-razy, I know), I think plans have changed, and we're going to have our guests warm and bless our rings while they wait to be seated for dinner.
And I have a tutorial on how to make these ring dishes yourself. (Looks very easy.) If you want it, contact me and I'll e-mail it to you. :)
