My FH and I have been together a looong time, so we've both had a lot of time to think about what we want. I absolutely HATE buyer's remorse. There is nothing worse than happily making a purchase only to find something you like more the next day. To that end, we have decided to design my engagement setting! I am incredibly excited about the opportunity. The day after he proposed we went to a jewelers' to start the design. We are basing the design around different elements from a few different rings.
1) The first: A Verragio. LOVE the split band and the "scroll work" under the stone.
2) The Second: Precision Set. This is how I want all the diamonds set on the top and sides. It produces an unbelievable sparkle.
3) Tiny, tiny, tiny and very delicate halo to surround the center stone.
4) ALL ME!! Adding in my own flair!!
The jeweler was hilarious. He calls himself the "Jewel-inator" (and yes, he says it just like the Terminator). He designs aircrafts as a "hobby". If all goes well, he should have a CAD sketch done in a couple of weeks!! Hopefully he can send me an electronic copy so I can post it for you ladies. I can't wait!!
I also had my ring designed based off a Verragio ring. My FH and I also shopped for rings after he proposed, similar to your story. After pricing Verragio rings I decided it would be best for me to design my own and put more money into my center stone.
