Wedding Invitation
Using clear printable labels instead of hand addressing

Yay! I just thought of using labels to address my invitations! So why have I gone to the trouble of organizing my guest list electronically (through my wedding website at weddingtracker.com)? I should take advantage!

The online application lets me export my guest list and then I can import that into the avery software(included in pkg) and viola, my invitation address labels are printed.

I was just dreading my upcoming weekend activity of assembling and addressing invitations. I had just recently hand written just a dozen baby shower invitations for a shower that I'm throwing for my girlfriend. My hand was cramping after only 8! I didn't want to impose on my friends with good handwriting either. 100 invitations is a lot to address!

But now using the labels we can just assemble, peel, stick, stamp, lick 100 times over and we're done! I don't have to invite so many friends over too. Which is good, our apartment is small.

Don't know why I hadn't thought of time saver before!

UPDATE: I purchased the labels at lunch today and will try printing some tonight. I got Avery's 1x2&5/8 inch clear labels for the InkJet printer. Will update again with my results.

I was thinking the same thing too but when I did try it...printed and put the label on my ivory pearlized envelope it looked a bit tacky. So I then ended up just printing directly onto to the envelopes and it looked way better.

Have you tried it out yet?

My future sister in law suggested I use those types of labels.  I think my invites that I am going to order are just a 3 fold and a sticker no envelope needed.  I'm pretty sure that printing directly on them would be a pain because they are small.  In my opinion no one is really going to be checking out the labels they'll be more interested on whats inside the envelope instead.

One thing I think that you have to watch is whether the labels are for a laser printer or inkjet.  I think someway they are set up differently or something.  How much was the labels and for how many could you please let me know!

I used those for my Save-the-Dates and am planning on using them for my invitations.  There is no way I'm paying for Calligraphy when my computer has that font :-p  The only thing I recommend is waiting a minute or two to let them dry before touching them - they smudge easily.

OH and don't forget to number your guest list and RSVP cards so if anyone doesn't fill out his or her name on the RSVP card you can look them up via the number on the guest list!

You might want to check out the etiquette and rules.  I believe that you shouldn't use any labels for invitations.  I know that you can print them directly onto the envelope though.

I know it's bad etiquette to use a printable label on wedding invitations, but I can't afford a calligrapher nor do I want to impose on any friends just like you. But, it's would be too much for me to hand-write 130 invitations.
I got these same labels at office max last summer when I was sending out my save the dates. So, what I did was print 3 of each label: 1 for the save the date, 1 for the invitation and 1 for the thank you card. Doing this made life sooo much easier instead of typing a label each time I needed to address something.

That is exactly what the place were we got the invitations suggested, but I think I will also try printing straight on the envelopes to see the difference like oldhollywoodbride suggested.
