Wishing Tree
So I have been thinking of having a 'wishing tree'. I think they are absolutely beautiful and so sentimental.
What are your thoughts? |

Ask a Question
I am SO indecisive regarding the hairstyle that I want. I need your opinion, lovely ladies!
I have been contemplating hairstyles for ages! I have long, blonde hair and am looking for something really classy that will suite my face shape! I've got a round/heart shaped face! I've never grown out of my baby cheeks! :)
Though I haven't chosen a dress, I can almost guarantee that it will be a strapless dress, my favourite neckline is a sweetheart, so I will be trying for that as-well! I need your help! ;) |

Wedding Flowers
The Florist!
I have been speaking back and forth with Lee, my florist for a couple of months now and this is finally the bouquet that I have decided on! I am thrilled about it but not sure if I want the roses shaded between white and ivory, if I want to leave them that beautiful pink color, or if I would like white with pink tips. I am sort of leaning toward keeping them pink---though nothing else at the wedding will be pink.
The original colors that we had chose for our wedding were Silver and Navy blue, though I don't think we have bought anything with those. I am planning on keeping napkins, chair sashes, and the candy buffet in those colors along with shoes and possibly the men's attire....but so far everything has been black and white (which I honestly adore!) I am a little bit skeptical about the men's suites being paired with something navy. We have all agreed that it will be a black suite and/or tux that they will be renting, but if they pair it with Navy, do you think it may look like their vest or dress shirt was a shade of black that went wrong? I'm not quite sure if they will match... I haven't quite picked out the boutonnieres and corsages yet. My bridesmaid flowers are going to be white roses. I priced them out at the florist and they are actually a ridiculous amount. At the moment my plan is to order them via telephone two weeks before the wedding and have them come into Safeway/Overwaitea/Askews which ever store I choose a couple of days before the wedding, I'll pick them up from the grocery store, do some trimming and ribbon wrapping and I will have got my 12 dozen white roses for my bridesmaids at $20 a bouquet. I will just have to be very attentive to keep them alive and looking well! If you have any tips or ideas for me, let me know! |

Wedding Invitation
Ordered, Delivered, and waiting to be sent out!
I know it is SUPER early to have my invitations professionally printed; but I actually had them done a couple of months ago. I just couldn't pass up on the deal that I found.
-100 invitations -100 matching envelopes -100 return address labels (matching of course) -110 response cards -110 matching, pre-addressed envelopes -110 Thank you cards (personalized!) -110 matching envelopes -50 wedding announcements -50 matching envelopes all for 150 dollars! So, naturally I jumped at the deal! I think they are gorgeous! I had them printed with a gloss front, card back. The only thing that I should have done with my response card is not made it glossy. I really didn't think about it when I was filling out my printing request from the printer. I could imagine that it will be a little bit hard to write on with a ball pointe pen. I might have to re-order them. We will see! Let me know what you think! |

Wedding Cake
My wedding cake was just ordered from Whisk Cake Company!
I am SO thrilled about my wedding cake. It's really not a huge cake, or super extravagant but it is just right for me! We are having a small wedding of 85-100 people; so this two tier should be wonderful!
The cake will be carrot cake (without nuts or raisins) with cream cheese butter-cream and white fondant (opposed to the ivory fondant shown in the picture) I am more than excited and now will just have to pick out a cake stand! I've just got to say that Whisk Cake Company has stellar customer service. Tanya is incredible and SO patient! She has really made the process easier and less painful than the situation could have ended up being. I just cant wait! It's going to look and taste fabulous! |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Engagement Ring
I am in LOVE with my diamond ring! Travis, my fiancee picked out the most fabulous one I could have ever imagined!
This ring is certified Canadian diamonds, 1 carat princess cut! (my favourite!) near colorless. It has a total of 15 diamonds in a white gold band. It's absolutely to die for! My next adventure is to find a band for it. I have tried on close to 15 different bands and I am having trouble finding one in my price range that will fit the curve of my ring. I'll be checking out People's soon though, I have heard through the grape vine that they have a couple of deep curved rings. We will have to wait and see! ;) |

Wedding Dress
I think everyone has asked me by now what 'the' dress will look like. I have a couple of things in mind; but I am really waiting to go dress shopping with my darling sister-in-law (to be): Kylee. Right now Kylee (who is also one of my bright and shining bridesmaids!) is making her way through Australia with her Husband; due to come home to Canada in about 3 weeks! I'm thrilled and it has been much too long since I have last seen her! I'll be kidnapping her and her hubby to do some good quality dress shopping in Calgary, Alberta and we will see what I come up with for dresses!
I do have one though that I have been looking at since forever. It's a Pnina Tornai gown (which is MUCH too expensive for my budget!---The dress retails at Klenfield's for $27,000 excluding taxes.) I've been thinking of purchasing a knock off, but it is sketchy! I wont be able to try it on and see if I like it on my body shape, and I will not be able to return it after purchased. Regardless of what I do, I will be getting the full dress shopping affect! I have however bought and distributed the bridesmaid dresses! Kylee was the one to find the steal-of-a-deal and I am incredibly impressed with the quality and how cute they were! I bought three of them on sale for 40 dollars each (which includes the tax, shipping, and duty to Canada from the States.) I was so impressed with them that I even thought of ordering one for myself just to add to my 'little black dress' collection! See to the left pictures of the Pnina Tornai designer gown and a picture from the online American Eagle catalogue where I purchased my bridesmaid dresses (in black) and let me know what you think! |

The Venue! Lake Okanagan Resort
First off, We have placed our deposit in November for the lovely Lake Okanagan resort in Kelowna, British Columbia!
The views are fabulous, the building is incredible! There are a few lacks in services, but the site itself is worth it! My fiancee and I had originally placed a deposit at the infamous Fort Steele Heritage town along Highway 95 south towards the united states, though the entire initial set up was a disaster! They had no contract for us to sign and changed their policies with us after we had placed our deposit. To sum it up, we would be paying to have our wedding there and not be able to accommodate a DJ, fresh floral decorations inside the hall, no wedding cake, and only Barbecue was on the menu. Did I mention that this original venue had deer and elk heads on the walls that we were not permitted to take down. Needless to say, we packed up our things and cut our losses. So far Lake Okanagan Resort has not offered us the most incredible services; I have even been placed into different contact other than their event coordinator and event manager. I am dealing with only the resort manager and Food and Beverage manager. We will have our ceremony take place on pointe beach at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and our reception in the newly renovated dining room and lounge. I'll attach some photographs! Now when is September going to start rolling in? |
