NWR... NEED TO VENT...
HATERS!!!!
I KNOW I can't possibly be the ONLY bride on here who's dealt with their share of haters?! But you know what, I'm about SiCK of it!!
People talkin about "you've only known each other x-amount of mos..." or "you got engaged after only being together x-amount of mos..." This chick asked my fiance what made him decide to get engaged after only being together for 6 mos. Okay, so for starters- he's giving her FREE FURNITURE b/c we bought new stuff- she's a brand new Airman, just got to the base && doesn't have anything yet- so take your dang furniture and SHUT UP! && she's got her facts ALLLLLL WRONG- we were together a year when we got engaged!!!! Even if we did get engaged after only 6 mos... WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE ME OR MY DECiSiONS?!!? ESPECiALLY when you DON'T even know me or my fiance!!!!!!! Uggggh!!! && it's not just her... I've had to deal with it constantly from one person or another. I'm sooo sick of it!!! Since when did there become a freakin RULE on when you should or shouldn't get engaged/married?!?! And WHO made it?!!? What makes ANYONE who wants to judge my life (or any of you beautiful brides) so much "better" that they're the freakin love guru?! Like seriously?! Uggh! This chick is lucky that I'm STILL in Arizona && by the time I get to Florida on Sunday (moving this wknd, wooo!) I'll have calmed down. Unfortunately, I'll have to work in the same squadron as this dumb chick for 6 mos before I get out of the military. Whatever, I suppose you're always gonna have haters. She's just pissed that my fiance's TAKEN!!! && that I'm the one w/3 carats on my finger! |

MUSiC
BRiDE vs GROOM.... WE DO NOT AGREE!!!!!!
My FH & I absolutely do NOT agree on music at all WHAT-SO-EVER!
Well, more or less... HE doesn't agree w/any of the music I LIKE! lol. I'm pretty open to all genres of music. I listen to rap/R & B mostly... but I'll listen to rock/alternative, country, or even classical music every now and then. I looooove to dance && I love music that will just PUMP you up while you're at the gym. He listens to rock/alternative (whatever it's called these days! lol) and like super old classical music- like Frank Sinatra. He absolutely haaaaaates rap && country! Oh && he DOES NOT dance! The ONE band we do agree on is Linkin Park... but I'm not about to have Linkin Park be the ONLY thing we listen to at our reception!!!!! Not only is it not dancing music, but I highly doubt our older family members will appreciate the lead singer SCREAMiNG! lol. I don't want our music to be all sappy... we haven't even talked about the "first dances" yet. When I picture the music at my reception, I just picture havin a really FUN time- dancing w/family && friends. I'm sorry but, listening to Frank Sinatra will put me to SLEEEEEEEEP!!! We BRiEFLY started to discuss the music that will be played at our wedding && it started getting heated after only like 2 min so I changed the subject QUiCK! Lol. Obviously I'm going to be aware of my surroundings && I'm not going to pick songs that will offend my guests... i.e. droppin F bombs left && right. Ugggggh, is ANYONE ELSE going thru this w/their FH??? HOW do you come to an agreement on the type of music when you completely disagree on genres w/o getting stuck playin the same thing over and over and over and over?!?!!?!!?! Please give me some advice! |

BUDGET WEDDiNG
What is considered a
I was watching "Whose wedding is it anyway" last night and they said they had a couple on the show that was on a "budget". So I got all excited thinking that I'm going to be able to get ideas from another couple who isn't spending as much money on their wedding as I spent on my car!!! This so-called "budget" was $30K!!! When I hear "budget wedding" or a "bride on a budget", I think they're spending like $5K or less... am I just super naive? I've heard that statistically couples spend $30K on weddings these days... but I personally, can NOT justify spending that much money on ONE DAY. Yes, I want a beautiful wedding and reception... but I could use $30K on SOOOOO MANY more things than one day of my life.
My FH and I are both in the military... there is this HUGE misconception that military members make a bunch of money. Well lemme tell ya, WE DON'T! lol. Unless you're an officer in the military, you really don't make much money. We are paying for everything ourselves, so we truly are on a BUDGET. We plan on having a VERY SMALL wedding ceremony on the beach- just the two of us and the officiant and we'll have a reception afterwards. Our wedding itself (not including the dress) shouldn't cost more than $250, so we plan on spending the majority of our money towards our reception. My family is very crafty so I def plan on recruiting a lot of the DIY-ers in my family to help me out. My mother used to make cakes- she made her OWN wedding cake- so that's an easy $500 saved on a wedding cake! But we hoped to only spend about $2500-3K on the entire reception... am I out of my mind?? Is this even possible? lol. I'm about to start the whole planning process in a few wks... (we're FINALLLLLLLY going to be stationed together in a wk & 1/2!!!!!) Thanks in advance for everyone's comments..... |

Ask a Question
Does anyone have a wedding CHECKLiST???
I'm starting to stresssss... the MORE stuff I find for my wedding/reception, the MORE I'm like "what... when... where... how do I do this????"
I have soooooo many ideas for my reception, but I don't know when to start working on my DIY projects: i.e. wedding favors, guest book, etc., as well as all the other details: STD cards, invitations, guest list, seating arrangements, etc. WHERE DO YOU START??? DOES ANYONE HAVE A CHECKLIST I CAN "STEAL" FROM YOU? I've found some pre-made checklists via theknot.com, but those all seem to expect everyone to have a wedding planner. I'm not having a wedding planner... MAYBE I'll get one at the very end to kinda pull everything together, but my FH and I would like to keep this as inexpensive as possible. AND, those checklists don't seem to have any DIY things included... I figured this would be the best place to come for advice since sooooooo many other brides are DIY brides too!!! Thanks in advance for the help! |

Ask a Question
Candy buffet questions/suggestions????
I really like the idea of a candy buffet instead of individual favors. My predominant colors are black and white w/fall colors as the accents. I would really like to incorporate blacks, whites, oranges, & reds into my buffet but I'm having a really hard time finding BLACK candy. I personally haaaaate black licorice, but I know that other people like it so I wouldn't mind having a small jar of it. But what other candies are black? Has anyone thought of "mixing" their candy buffets with a cookie buffet? I thought it might be cute to have Oreo cookies!
How many jars of candy are you girls having? How do you know how much candy is ENOUGH for all of your guests? How many boxes/bags are you giving each guest... or are you leaving them on the buffet table? What are some decent prices on buying bulk? I'd like to keep it as inexpensive as possible... so ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! |

Bridesmaids
Will you be my bridesmaid e-cards
I got the idea of "Will you be my bridesmaid" cards from another bride here on WBC. I didn't have the time to make them myself and just by randomly clicking around the internet I happened to come across FREE e-cards at theknot.com! I only have 3 girls all together so I really didn't want to spend the money on a box of 10 cards when I would only use 3 of them! I thought it was a great alternative and hope someone else finds it useful too!

Wedding Flowers
Falllllllllll colors
As I've said before, my predominant colors will be black and white w/fall colors (i.e. dark burnt orange/reds) as my accent colors. I really want dark orange/red bouquets for the flower colors. I haven't spoken to a florist yet to check out prices, but both my mother and my soon to be mother in law are very crafty so I thought about recruiting them for help w/some DIY bouquets.

Wedding Dress
I found THE ONE!!!
Sooooo, I found my dress today!!! I tried on 5 dresses... I realllllly liked the 1st one and the 4th one. I actually thought I was going to get the 4th one. But then she brought out THIS dress and I couldn't pass it up!!! It's definitely not what I originally had in mind, b/c I thought I wanted a short dress
but I wouldn't change it for the world! Its absolutely beautiful! It's very simple, yet very elegant. I wanted some pretty feminine details on top and a plain bottom. The sheer overlay gives it that "destination" feel. I cant wait to wear it!!!! The dress I tried on today fit almost perfect, but she had to cinch it pretty tightly at the waist so she actually suggested I get one size smaller so that you can see the corset detail in the back.
Not sure if anyone's every had a corset tighten on them, but it's not exactly that easy to stand up being jerked left and right!!! I don't know how women used to do it back in the "old days"!!!! I definitely give them props!!! Now... any advice for the shoes??? Heels on the beach don't sound too fun!!! |

The Proposal
BEST Thanksgiving EVERRR!!!
My fiance and I had just driven 15 hrs to his hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana the day before Thanksgiving. We had dinner with his family and then off to our hotel we went. He waited until midnight, then told me had a special present for me. He pulled this little box out of his suitcase and proceeded to tell me how thankful he was for me and how much he loved me and then he opened the box and asked me to marry him. It was the cutest, sweetest thing ever. I was in tears from all the sweet things he said. I love, love, love him!!!!

Loving the fall colors...
I originally wanted a black and white wedding with hot pink accents... However, during a LONGGG 15 hr drive from Florida to Indiana for Thanksgiving we were surrounded by beautiful fall colors and I completely changed my mind! lol. I still want a predominantly black and white wedding. I love the damask look! But I also want some dark oranges and maybe some reds for all the accents
the flowers, napkins, etc.
