Wedding Reception
ATTENTION ALL WOMEN OF WBC!!

I have a problem.... We can't decide on what kind of centerpieces to use....

I like something more along the lines of picture number two and three and he's feeling picture number four! He thinks it would be soooo hot to add fish to our centerpiece but I'm looking at it like... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH ALL THOSE FISH AFTER THE RECEPTION? Also my ALLLLLL TIIIIIMMMMEEEEEE favorite color is BLACK!!! (LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!) But we have to add royal blue and gold for his FRATERNITY colors.... So how can we make that all mix without looking to gaudy or trashy?? Come on ladies! I know you guys can think of something!!! lol I'm talking linens, napkins, seat cards, centerpieces, etc.... Throw something at us please cause we're clueless but I love the fact that he actually wants to be a part of everything... he's paying for it so I guess he would lol....

P.s..... Mostly just black and royal blue.... HATE GOLD! lol

UPDATE!!

SO... I just added the pictures my MaidOH and MatronOH took with the dresses on... A little too boring for my liking

If you wanted to go with the fish idea, you could stick something under one chair at each table (a heart, a picture of you two) and closer to the end of the night have your  DJ or MC announce that whoever has a heart/card/picture under their chair get's to take home the center piece. That way you're not stuck with a bunch of fish!

You could Go with all three colors for your linens and do half the centerpieces with the colored rocks and fish and half with the rocks and flowers but the ones with the fish I would do in taller vases and still auction them off at the end of the night.Black royal blue and gold are very pretty colors especially with white or ivory. And some parkley gold candles.Just ideas anyway I hope they help.Be Blessed

How about #4:
Put black gravel on the bottom with blue and gold pebbles (or jewels or whatever). Then add a fish and give them away to whoever wants them after the reception!

Personally, I LOVE the look of  #3!

I actually think the fish are kinda cool. I hope they would survive the night, it would make me sad if they didn't - I know goldfish sometimes don't so check with whoever you buy the fish from. But they do look cool :)

Also, are you having kids at the wedding? Can you imagine how excited kids would be to go home with a new pet? If not, that's ok, but maybe try and give it to families with little kids somehow? Make the first person who brings up a pic of a family member under 10 the winner or something lol

Okay how about this...Picture it...Your tables: A nice gold table cloth with black ball room chairs. The cushins in the chairs royal blue. Your plates black with royal blue napkins in the center. Your centerpieces tall with the tall clear vases with little fish in them. Your flowers in the center piece different shades of blues. It would be nice if you could find some black and gold fish for the centerpieces. Find black votive or blue votive candle holders to go around the centerpiece and add a mirror under neather each centerpiece to have the reflection of everything coming up. I think it would be gorgeous. You could have your girls wearing black dresses with a gold sash. they could carry a mixture of blue and gold flowers. That would be so gorgeous. if you wanted stones in the vases also...put the blue stones in there. what you think about all that??

@Pinkdamaskbride2010 ... I think you got it right on the head!!! I LOVE IT I LOVE IT!!! SO DOES MY FH!! @Tashasita thats a great idea... we weren't going to have kids at the reception but we decided to let them come and that would be sooo cute! Kind like a parting gift for the kids! My FH said something about the big black angel fish but I have to talk to someone to see if they would last that long without a air pump cause I know regular gold fish wont.... @Mommybride... I love number 3 too... I love the floating candles but where can I get the colored voltive candle holders cause all I've seen are the clear and the frosted looking ones... As a matter of fact my girls tried on these plain black dresses from DB with a gold and blue sash... (let me add the pictures).... but to me they were too plain... what kind of pretty blue flowers do you have in mind?

Have a mixture of blue flowers like hydrangea and roses and lillies and carnations. All kinds. I think it would be gorgeous. You could do gold dresses and them hold blue flowers. i found my pink votive holders at www.coastalblue.com.au they have all kinds of colors. I have found so many pictures on google of blue and gold weddings. just look up royal blue and gold weddings under the images part and you will get so many ideas. you know what would be really pretty...if you could find a damask like print in blue and white or in gold and white. that would look really nice. or you could do black and white damask with touches of gold and royal blue. since you love black so much make it your main color of the wedding and pull in the blue and gold in the flowers and the cushins. what about that?

If you do go with fish, make sure that they can handle all the activity, they're fairly fragile creatures and it would be a shame if some of them didn't survive the reception. If you go with sarab123 or tashasita's idea about getting rid of them, I would just add to make sure that the people would be able to take the fish. Talk to the parents first, and I would try to only give the fish away to people that could take them. An out of town guest probably isn't going to be too thrilled with having to take care of a fish. Also, I would caution you about using floating candles with fish centerpieces as a lot of commercial candles contain chemicals that can be toxic to fish.
Good luck!

Yes the fish add a very nice look---but they poo.  Do you want to look at fish poo while eating?  gross...and if they die...then you have dead fish floating at your reception will not make nice pictures.  Also, I'm not usually a save the animals person...but it really is cruel.  You'll have the noise and all kinds of people tapping the glasses and this causes stress to the fish and ultimately kill them.  Sorry I can't help other than that...good luck on finding your centerpieces.  It'll come together eventually!

I think black linens, with #3 centerpiece... some tables have blue flowers and some tables have gold flowers. Just a thought to keep the colors from being too overwhelming and to also save the lives of some innocent fish. lol.

My fiance had been to a prom where they had the fish as centrepieces too and the guests ended up putting the fish together to fight until the death. Hopefully your guests wouldn't be that immature but it's something to keep in mind.
