Wedding Reception
Kids Favors

I'm having a dilemma. Remarkably, all of our friends with children either have infants or preteens...no real in between. I wanted to give the kids something to do at the wedding other than being the spoiled brats many of them behave like in a public setting. They are mostly girls, and are in competition for the most attention.

I was thinking about going with gift bags that would include a couple different things, including disposable cameras (since kids seem to love taking pictures) but I'm not sure what else.

I would like to avoid too much candy since we are already supplying cupcakes and cheesecake pops. So, I am at a loss...

I don't have kids. I don't know what they will want.

I have an 8 yr old so she is kinda in between but I have lots and lots of cousins. The cameras would be an ok idea but honestly preteens (my cousins anyway) actually love to dance. Especially girls. I wouldn't focus so much on having things for them to do say at a table because they will more than likely be on the dance floor with the rest of you. As for the infants....I really think parents should find a sitter for them. BUT THAT IS JUST MY OPINION!!!!! If you are having a dj it may be too loud for the infants. Then you will be dealing with screaming babies all night :(

I think you make an excellent point. I think what I've decided to do is go straight to the source and borrow my friend's daughter for the day, I've been meaning to do that any ways.  Maybe she can give me some insight into the unknowable pre-teen mind.

I want to keep them occupied, but away from the photobooth for the most part - at least until most everyone has gotten their pictures.

I ended up going to the dollar store and picking up some great toys there. The biggest hit were those water snakes. They have puzzles coloring books, play jewelry, etc.

I would get them crafts, set up a table with butcher paper and markers/crayons etc to draw and decorate, bubbles, glow sticks/jewelry etc, set up fun games for them to play etc.
