Update...HELP!!! Trash the Dress Dress & Casual Photos
Ok ladies, here is my problem!
My photographer wants to do a trash the dress shoot the day after the wedding...PERFECT! So excited! This will entail getting my expensive dress super dirty and or wet so I decided to get a cheaper dress, very simple and casual. Also, on top of the trash the dress, we are doing casual bridal shots with my casual dress and also my bridal gown. So, I have been on the hunt for a second dress, and guess what...can't find one. Since I live in Canada, it is kind of difficult since not everywhere ships here (sigh) and I have a very tight budget...$100 CDN or less including shipping AND if that isn't hard enough... I'm a size 16. Here are some examples that I like and can't afford! lol These are mostly from David's Bridal. Ideally, I would like a dress that hits the floor so that it is still dressy, but a little casual at the same time. The last picture is the one that I wanted SUPER bad- it's a Maggy London dress that I found on ebay, but I lost track of the bid and was late bidding on it and lost! :( If you ladies have any ideas or places I can buiy from PLEASE let me know!!! ***UPDATE!!*** Last night I found the PERFECT dress on ebay! OMG I love it and it cost $100 exactly with shipping! I am so excited! It is a Phoebe Couture dress! It's the two last dresses in the set of pictures! YaY! Can't wait until it comes in! |

Got my Garter and Clutch!
I love ETSY and EBAY so much!
I got my garters from the ETSY seller SimplyWeddings and she was so awesome to deal with. I got them in the mail two weeks ago and the quality of them is amazing. I got my clutch off of EBAY and cannot say enought about it either! It is so cute! It's weird because I got them the week before I got my dress, but the color and beading match my dress perfectly on the clutch and the garters! YaY!! I love when things come together! :) |

Found THE DRESS!
Sooo after my meltdown my mom (who also hated the first dress) and I travelled about four hours from my town and went dress shopping. I tried on about twelve different dresses befor I tried on my dress. I put it on but didn't really feel that OMG THIS IS MY DRESS feeling right away.
I went out onto the pedestal and the lights hit all the beading and it was BEAUTIFUL! I LOVED IT!! It is so comfortable too, and ladies who are a size 16 may agree that feeling comfortable in a formal gown is sometimes a hard thing to accomplish. I had to buy off the rack because there isn't enough time left to order one in, so it still needs to be hemmed and a bustle needs to be added but.... MELTDOWN OVER!! I HAVE MY DRESS!!! |

HATE My dress!!!
A few weeks ago I got my dress in the mail. I had ordered it from ebay and it was custom made for me. I didn't think that it would be a problem since we did this for the FH's sister's grad for her and their cousin and their dresses are beautiful. Also the FH's other cousin got married last year and she got both of her dresses this way and they were BEAUTIFUL!
I was so excited, I ripped open the bag and then just kind of stood there staring at the dress. I had asked for NOOOO embroidery and tons of beading....what did I get? Allll embroidery and very little beading. To top it all off, the embroidery was not white, or silver but like a pale yellowy silver. The material was cheap, the angle cut was almost straight across and it made me look about 20 lbs heavier than I am....but at leaste I liked the back right? lol So I had a meltdown...here's the dress. It's wrinkled because it came in an airtight bag. Bouquet Brooch
So, last night I was going to replicate an old lace and button brooch that I found at my moms. Well, I tried and they were ugly.
SOOO I looked up a tutorial online to make fabric flowers and it was SUPER easy and I think they are beautiful. The only differenc is that I did not put the center pieces of fabric in. I used white fabric, white lace, and button flower to go on the front of our bouquets. So picture #1 and 2 are of my fabric flower, which I LOVE, and my first DIY disaster is the third picture! I tried to post the link, but it's throwing the whole post off because it is so long! :( UPDATE!: I decided that these were too large to use on the bouquets, as is, so I took off the lace centre and the button and jazzed them up a bit. Mine is the super sparkly one, my MOH's has one crystal and the bridesmaids have all pearls! :) |

Bouquet Brooches and Rehearsal Flowers
YaY! What a fun way to spend Saturday night!
While going through my moms boxes of "old stuff" today looking for her mother's old jewelery we found a beautiful brooch- lace bow with a cluster of white buttons in the middle. I instantly thought this would be an awesome way to make ourwhite wrapped bouquets even prettier! She got out her BOXES of craft supplies to get things to make them with and I went through jars of buttons picking white ones out, then as she was handing me the lace it hit me! I was going to order flower bouqets for our rehearsal off of etsy.com but why not just make them too? I picked out all different kinds of colored buttons, floral wire, fabric and felt and my mom gave me starch and fabric glue! Well my mom was on a roll after that and gave me SOOOO much for the wedding; burlap, vases ugh so much I can't even list. It was well over $200 worth of stuff! The pictues are: 1 & 2 -examples of the flowers I was going to order for the rehearsal for the bridesmaids and myself. 3 &4 -examples of the button cluster. Mine won't be as fancy because I am using vintage buttons and no crystals. Snd the bow it will be on. I'm excited! I hope they turn out ok!? I'll post pictures of the finished product later! :) |

Early Morning Vent
I feel like screaming. As I have previously stated, I live in Canada in a small ass town in NORTHERN Manitoba. I am six hours away from ANY kind of shopping.
Most of my time lately has been spent sifting through the internet looking for wedding decorations since I can't buy anything here and NO ONE SHIPS TO CANADA. I found the perfect decorations, DIY stuff and birdcages on save-on-crafts.com and tried to go through the checkout. Much to my dismay, they informed me AT THAT MOMENT, they do not ship internationally. I go on the website weddingbees.com to look for decorations that brides are selling that they have previously used in weddings. Is it hard to put on your listing " WILL NOT SHIP TO CANADA".....is it? I'm just not understanding. Ok...I feel a little better now... Thanks for letting me vent! ~S |

My Bouquet Inspirations :)
We went to our florist last week and I am so excited about our flowers! She knew right away what I wanted- a big white bouquet with white roses, stephanotis' with a pearl center and a few other white flowers thrown into the mix. AND she gave us such an awesome price.
The bridesmaids will have smaller versions of my bouquet and the groomsmen will have a single white rose. My FH is going to have a white rose with a few stephanotis'. He even wants the pearl in the center! :) |

Just wondering how many brides-to-be or brides have a future monster ...oops I meant mother...in law?
I'm pretty fortunate- my FH and I have been together since we were sixteen and seventeen I have pretty much grown up with my FMIL. She is more like a friend to me than anything. I guess it also helps that I have lived with her and that we work together! Sure, we have our disagreements once in a while, but they normally blow over in a matter of minutes. :) |
