Bridesmaids
no wedding shower...
so i know i shouldn't be greedy, but it just kinda bums me out that no one is throwing me a bridal shower. i know if i really wanted one, i should told someone. but i really feel they shoulda just done it. i swear all of my bridesmaids have the easiest jobs ever. the only thing i have asked them to do is go pick out dresses, and now pick them up. one of 5 has offered to help me. and i am not saying that i need any help. everyone is so busy, (especially with the holidays) and live kinda far away-but really? it would be nice for an offer every once in a while even. we even had to throw our own bachelor and bachelorette parties. like make, address and send out the invites. and plan most things. i see everyones shower info and updates and it just kinda sucks. one of those wedding time only things that i feel like i am missing out on. then last week my mom even gave me a gift from victoria's secret, saying that was my shower gift. am i being totally ridiculous and selfish? i don't know, but i figured i could bitch here and if anyone, you guys would understand. sorry for the bitchfest, but needed to get it off my chest. thanks for listening!

cutting out the plastic stuff is such a pain, but in the end they turned out exactly how i pictured them. the olives kinda taste bad, but they are so cute. i guess that's the important thing! still cutting away, but they should be done soon enough!

all of the bridesmaids dresses and the flower girl dress are in! i am so excited. i haven't seen them in the dresses yet, but they have picked them up. the color is perfect and can't wait to see it all come together!

menu tasting
this weekend we did our menu tasting for the wedding and i think everything is going to be great! here is what we chose:
appetizers: seared ahi tuna pita crisps vegetable purses starter: tuscan bean soup entrées: grilled bavette stuffed local chicken orecchiette pasta then we are also having a late night snack: blue cheese sliders mini portabella burgers house made potato chips every thing tasted great. i hope all the guests like everything. we decided to go with a soup instead of a salad. first off it was delicious. and then we decided it was a nice alternative because it'll be january. |

bachelorette party dress
i found one!
after shopping, shopping, and more shopping i found a dress. originally i was going for white or ivory. but after having such a hard time finding anything i started trying on everything. this one wasn't exactly what i had in mind. but it has a kinda sixty's feel, fits perfectly, and it was only 99 bucks! i'm gonna spice it up with black shoes and accessories. another thing off the list!

another thing off the list! we got the thank you favors assembled and they turned out great! the second picture is the recipe card that is in the shaker. it's our "signature drink". then we got the mini martini glasses too. but we found these amazing candies! they are chocolate covered almonds that look like olives! can you believe it, too cute! so we are going to put these in the glasses with plain white jordan almonds. but the olives are still on order. can't wait until they are here to mark another thing off the list!

this weekend we were so busy trying to get things done before christmas gets here. we finished the rehearsal invites and they turned out awesome! we ended up using only three flags per invite. (to save money, not having to buy more banners.) but i still think it turned out great.

is it really that hard?!
i am going to pull my hair out! we have had our response cards flowing in for the past week and now we are getting all the problem cards. last week we got one back that was a "and guest". she decided to invite two. then yesterday i get two in the mail. (which neither of them had an "and guest".) the first one also invites two guest and the second invites three! best part is, is that there is only space for two names and selected dinner! they just marked all the meal boxes and wrote names all over it! first off, you can't just bring people (which my fiancée nor i have never met in our lives) to some ones wedding. this isn't a picnic in the park! second we printed on the card "please print first and last names." they put, and i kid you not, "lady friend"! can you believe that! we are making place cards...is that what i should put on there?! come on people! and we need to know what people are eating for those same cards...we don't even have half the responses back, i sure hope all of them aren't this frustrating!

where to find a bachelorette party dress?
we are hiving a kinda joint bachelor and bachelorette party. we are all going to vegas, and the dress code is "cocktail attire". guys are wearing suits and all the girls are wearing black cocktail dresses and i am supposed to wear either a white or ivory dress. i am having a tough time finding white dresses in general. then ones that i like, let alone cheap. i want something that is me...i generally like vintagy 40's and 50's styles and i am pretty open as far as straps go. i don't want it too short and i am pretty short so i really like pencil skirts. (i am under 5 feet tall, so that helps me look taller.) i also don't want it to look like a wedding dress either. and something fairly cheap. any ideas of where to look? i have looked a little online and most anything i like is so expensive. and i'd like to try it on too. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
the second photo is a david's bridal wedding dress i really like. it's $349, way, way, way more than i wanted to spend, but i keep a watch on it for sales. does it look like a wedding dress or a cocktail dress? and the shrug comes off and it's strapless. so i feel like it'll be less weddingy without it. what do you girls think? |

are you having a money dance or money tree?
so i of course feel awkward asking guest to give us money. especially after they have mostly all traveled and may have bought a gift. and our wedding is right after the holidays too, so money is going to be extra tight for everyone in this already tough time. my brother and sister-in-law did a little palm tree with clothes pins, (they were going to hawaii.) and it turned out great for them. on the pro side i really like the chance to get to dance and spend time with each guest. (one of my big fears is being spread really thin, and guest will feel neglected.) we have decided to walk around and hand out each favor too, so we can see each guest and personally thank them for coming. and we are having a band that has the most perfect song for it, called "the money tree"! but what do you girls think? are you having one or the other? is it tacky?
