Yea i know!! I want to help other brides and get help too! But...well I can't say that my privacy was invaded..because this is a public wedding blog..but NEVER did I think that someone would really repost it word for word and I saw it with my own eyes!!

Wow weird... yeah you gotta be careful on a public site huh? And this one is completely public too!

*sigh* I know! This is CRAZY. i posted just trying to get help from you ladies..and then they just reposted it..and continued to BASH me and weigh in with their own useless comments.

Wow! I just googled my name too and there's random posts on other websites I never posted... basically stealing what I wrote with my WBC user name and putting it on their site...

bryanswife17: I wrote a post last week. And a anonymous poster said there was a website where it was listed and people were giving their own comments on the situation. So I decided to look around for it..and there is was! They copied and pasted what I wrote onto their own site/blog..and even had the link to my page.

It wasn't another WBC bride..just another site/blog about weddings.

I Google mine and found one of my trivial post and links to a couple others through some random site....weird. :/ Not sure how I feel about this....

i know some ppl looking at this may think i'm overreacting...or thats the price you pay for blogging on a public website..

BUT i'm just upset about my own personal situation.

WOW...try projectwedding...it lets you have privacy.  After reading this, I am changing alot of things with my blog! Thats just sad bcus I really like the Brides on WBC

hahah, that was fun! Could have been scary, but I found a site where a girl wanted pics of someone in the MS hampton, and they referred her back to my site.  But I am sure I took the pics down by time they got there, lol.

I totally understand why you're upset, didn't mean to minimize it by saying that this is a public site. It just made me think that anyone has access to all of this info. It is really freaky!

I think I will go back through my posts and make sure some of the personal stuff goes too!

When I told a couple of close ppl they thought I was "overreacting"...and I should have put information out there that I didnt want people to see. But what they failed to understand..it wasn't about a friend or family member..it was just about a vendor..and I didn't even list the companies name. Again..I wasn't directing it towards you =(

No worries! I didn't take offense at all! But it sunk in afterwards and there's all kinds of stuff on here, plus pics of my family and all that. I think I may take some of the personal stuff off.. that's all I meant.

I googled my name and pictures that I had on myspace and facebook popped up. So no site is secure, but unfortunally we cant live without the internet.
I feel really sad because we should have to go through this... especially when we found a place where we can Vent and a place where we can express how we feel. Others brides will understand and some might but thats the whole process. You should never have to deal with this.

I was watching DR PHIL :) and they said if you google your email add. it will show you what sites you have signed up for.
Thats why there is so much identity theft in thiss world. No internet site is secure  :(

what are you ladies talking about?   i googled, but dont know exactly what i am looking for, but now i would like to know especially since everyone is getting so upset over it.

I tried googling my WBC name, and I didn't see anything.  What is everyone looking for when they google their name?  sorry, its a Monday and I am extra slow on Mondays..but I am sorry that you have to deal with rude people invading your info.  I hope karma bites them in the ass!  But if its anything like what I experienced..that explains why I now blot out all my personal information because I had unwanted people finding info on my blog.

I am not saying this info is not violating but really what info are you putting out there that you don't want someone to have?  I mean if someone was out to get you and wanted to know when your wedding was, I am pretty sure they could find out.  Also, no one is stealing your identity from your save the date photos.  The sites where I saw my info did not make much sense, but that is also why I have told some ladies to get in the habit of spelling your name wrong.  If you are nervous about someone figuring out your wedding date just change some of the info. Like if your name is Ashley spell it Ashlie. You know who you are, and if someone copies your info from that point who cares.  

The myspace thing, you can set up to be blocked so, you may want to adjust your privacy settings on those.  Ideally wbc will create a privacy setting on here, but honestly isnt reading other peoples blogs what brought you here?  I would say I was reading on here for about a month before I became a member.

Another tip, if you are choosing to put up something personal to get advice from the other ladies on here, put the it up, and then take it down in three days.  (the only people that were going to comment would have done so during that time).

I don't want to see anyone leave this site because I hold all of you dear to me, but I think there are some things that you can do to make this site work better for you.  

My family works in law enforcement and I know if someone wants to get you they will, but then my fh works in IT and he is paranoid about people getting in our business, so I understand both sides.  Just be careful about what you put out there and how long you leave it out there.

Hey there again..sorry but i've become suddenly interested in this post.  I have a gf that used to blog on here which is how I found out about WBC.  After I read this post and didn't understand right away, something clicked once I read it again about somethign similar that happened to her during her wedding planning a few years ago.  I just texted her to confirm.  We haven't decided what to call it, but she said she had a similar experience where she said people who sell wedding services (DJ, cake bakers, venues, florists) will google real world examples to back up their claims for their service.  I am thinking that I know what you are referencing about the post from last week.  If so, the same thing happened to her involving a florist.  She found a florist that agreed to make flower bouts and such for her at a discounted price.  She decided to go through the motions to book, sent in a deposit, and all of a sudden the florist was MIA. Ran away with her money!  After she got married, she said she found a random website where a different florist was using her old blog post to confirm why she should not have tried to "cheat the system" as they wrote.  They were basically able to use her blog post as a "fake testimonial" as to why she should've used them versus the discounted place.  It sounds as if someone may have done that to you.  I am not certain.  It is a desperate attempt on their part to convince other buyers that they are the right company to go with fake/unauthorized testimonials to back them up.  My gf told me that htey said things like  "that is what you get when you look for a discounted person" or whatever. I am sorry if that made no sense, but I am trying my best to tell the story from her perspective.  Sounds like they just used it as a marketing strategy at your expense..I am sorry that you had to go through that..but remember people have a lot to say via the world wide web..I bet you if you were face to face with him or her, they would've changed their whole attitude...good luck...i hope that helps in helping you to figure out what went on.

rmmharrison: There was nothing personal..I only had it up one day..and the next day when I checked it..I had these anonymous DJ's commenting on the post. But it was about a DJ that was bascially missing in action..i didnt put up the vendors name or the businesses name..but a dj from a "dj association" felt the need to post it on a dj board. Then they all felt the need to come put their two cents in on what happend and basically called me stupid for thinking I could find a dj for such a low price.

I don't want everyone to get paranoid!! And get mad at me!!This is a wonderful website..and its great for sharing ideas.

I agree rmmharrison I don't want anyone to leave the site. But like you said, be careful about you share. This was all just surprising to me that someone felt that my issue was so "funny" and that i "got what i deserved" and felt the need to share it with others on a different types of wedding boards..and dj websites.

....if we all disappeared then the website will get boring! And I don't want that to happen!

I don't think anyone has to leave. But I took down some of the kids' pics to be safe as well as some pics of mark in uniform. Just security..  

Wedding ideas and info I don't think is an issue.

Sorry to hear all about this crazy mess especially since we are all here trying to plan our best day ever  and we definitely don't need any more stress or bad energy coming our way.Like a lot of brides on here WBC I  went over to Project wedding and we all love it You can make your page private for friends only or not. I know you only have 3 months left and you prob don't want to start all over but I do look forward to your posting and would miss them If you decided not to post on WBC anymore. Take care and make sure you go to Art's crab shack soon!

trulyblessed: Yes..i come here to get help..not to add on to any stress that i'm going through!! I really dont want to start over, so maybe i just deal with my issues on my own..and just post things to help people. But I will definitely share the pictures of my big day with my girls!!! There is a wedding blog hater group called circle of sarcasm and they read blogs and then they post EXACTLY what you have written, and if they think your crazy or the idea is stupid, they bag the hell out of it. Unfortunate as it is, you are on a public website. So just make sure anything you type your not going to feel ashamed if it gets copied. It sucks, but there are people out there with nothing better to do in their life part from rip peoples blogs or be negative.

AAAAAhhhhh, okay so I googled my name again, but looked up images, and. . . .  yeah, I found when I went to a nuvaring site, and it has up the insertion picture with my name under it!!! I use the same name for quite a bit of stuff,  how embarrasing!

ccranetobe: Are you serious??!! Some people just aren't happy. Always quick to scrutinize in all you do and share it with anyone that will listen/read.  I guess they thrive on it and it somehow makes them feel a little better about their own miserable lives.Yea...,some people just aren't happy.

yup deadly serious. Google it if you have very tough, its a sad world sometimes! well more to the point. There are some very sadistic people in the world and think that its fun to make fun of others.

The sad thing is, I should know better!! I ran a website for years dealing with Myspace stuff and members..always dealing with privacy issues. I went back on my posts and deleted and edited quite a few. I refuse to google. I dont even want to know lol!!

hmmmm... i just googled my WBC name and along with posts i have commented on in the past I did come across some where my random post was put on a site but i dont understand why! It makes me feel not safe. Why do ppl copy and past the stuff we write??? this makes me feel sick

to clarify why im so upset: I made a post of how much we were getting back in tax's and how it was going to wedding planning, I quickly changed it like 4 hours later so the amount was not in as  safety percausion. When i googled my name it showed that post on some random site with the amount i was getting back. I feel like ppl could scam or hack into my accounts if they knew that. makes me rethink a lot i post and im gonna have to go edit

This whole experience just makes you think of how careful we need to be. I've learned my lesson lol I've edited a LOT of posts! And removed a lot as well
