Seeing as it is the Holiday season, I wanted to share this delicious recipe that is my all time favo...
Not Just Mimosas - Picon Punch!!
The National Drink of the Basques
2 ounces Amer Picon (substitute Amer Boudreau or Torani Amer)
2 barspoons (1 teaspoon) of grenadine
1/2 to 1 ounce brandy (optional)
This drink appears to be a Basque-American drink. I hear that in some Nevada bars its served in a mug, rather than the standard old-fashioned glass. - I'm from Nevada and I am hoping that we can get it in mugs!!!
Pretty excited for this :)

Brunch. Now What?
So I like the idea of a brunch and all.
BUT.... other than mimosas, what do you eat? I don't even think I've had but one mimosa in my entire life, they just look and smell fantastic, how could I not have them at my brunch?
I am not sure how much of a choice I am going to get as The Tuck Shop has a menu, but I'm just asking and wondering what my peeps might come to expect.
Fabric for the Napkins
Working on figuring out which fabrics I need to be rounding up.
Thought I would post them on here to get an idea of how they all look together. I am afraid it might not be as vintageous as I wanted, but oh well! As long as it works..........I'm happy!
I am still going with yellow, cream, and cranberry. For now. Subject to change up until the moment that I am actually pronounced as Mrs. Mike.
Where to find this Number?
So I just stumbled upon this dress on Polyvore (awesome site for us creativity-challenged folk) and I cannot get it out of my head. I would love this dress.
Does ANYone know where I might be able to obtain three of these babies???
How come the dresses that I like are always out of style? haha! I guess this really tells me something about style (or lack thereof).
Ok, so I am an old soul. I love all things vintage (cleaned up and not dusted with cat pollen). SO when I found this idea... I just about hyperventilated.
What I want to incorporate for a centerpiece as an hommage (sp?) to my grandma who I want to be at this wedding so badly but she cannot because she passed away: Cranberries & Teacups.
I also want cupcakes instead of a traditional cake.
When I saw this recipe, I knew that I had to attempt it. I will and I'll keep everyone posted as to how many "oven-safe teacups" actually explode in my oven.
Still working on the centerpiece idea..... anyone with a good recommendation or some inspiration? for incorporating the teacups. I might do the cranberries elsewhere..... somewhere secret ;)
This building is historic. It used to be a bank. After that it was some sort of union hall for something weird. Has been completely renovated and is stunning now.
They even have a lounge-y area!! This place is fun to come down to on school nights and just hang out with friends.
View from the lounge.
Cool brick wall out front. The owner is an architect. Can you tell? ;)
Tuck from the street.
Daily view of the Tuck while walking the greyhounds.
To the left of the entry door. Cute. Every little detail is important.
Talked to The Reception Dude Today
I met up with the manager of The Tuck Shop and he is pretty excited about an mid-afternoon/late morning reception at his shop. He is looking forward to bringing in alcohol for our own drinks (I think I'll get a bar stocked for Pecan Punches) and he said that he will provide $$ per head instead of a random number thrown down. I think that I will like this.
He also mentioned that if I had any ideas for centerpieces - should I like to do them, just ask away and maybe he can help.
I told him that I wanted to do do napkins and he thought that would be a great idea. I really like working with him, it almost isn't work. Yee haw! and Giddy up.
It's also a really good feeling to know that you are supporting the little guy AND someone in your neighborhood. We're so lucky to have this place less than a quarter of a mile from my living room sofa. Love.

How Do I Decorate?
So I'm getting married in a public space, a public park to be exact. It has some lovely palm trees that are very tall, not too close together, but look nice. (scroll down to see more pictures of Encanto Park)...
Question #1: How do I decorate this place for a fun little ceremony? It's hard to decorate a palm tree to make it look wedding-y!
I guess I might need to go over to the park and get some dimensions (How far apart EXACTLY are these old palm trees? - I am on official Bridezilla now because I am even asking these questions, right?)
Question #2: Seating. I need to figure out seating for a few people. Not that I am going to have all that many people. Likely to be roughly 40. Would it look SUPER lame to only have say four benches?
Unrelated Question #3: Is it normal to freak out because you're only going to have 40 people at your wedding? I realize that it is not a popularity contest, but really I am concerned about how unfriendly and lame I will appear. (I am officially BRIDEzilla, now.)
P.S. Just found out that myonly living set of grandparents will not be making it to my wedding. I guess I just never thought that they wouldn't be able to make it. I am sad, this is the biggest day of my life, second only to graduating from pharmacy school. It would have been nice to share this with them. Oh well, what can you do? Every cloud has a silver lining: I would rather have them safe and sound at home than in harm's way by traveling.
To a Ceremony Venue
It's a historic park in Central Phoenix.
Sure it's not that VRBO house, but it is free. Not sure if we'll have extra guests in the form of vagrants and pigeons (please note: these two things were my ginormous issue with having a public park wedding in the first place. So one word: compromise) but if we do, you can bet your sweet bum that I am going to be chasing them. Dress and all.
Well, I won't chase the vagrants, you never know what they've got going on, but I will chase the pigeons. I'll do it. Watch.
SUPER COOL hot rod poster.
Oh My! Hello my little pretty!
Not an actual poster, but typography that I adore.
Completely unrelated BUT my new mantra for work.
I love all the different typography.
No Need To Be Traditional
... Not with my invitations, at least. I keep thinking that I like a certain inviation suite and then I see them in real life and it almost feels as though the wind is completely ripped out of my sails.
I almost want something larger than life, no I am not a drama queen, No I am not a bridezilla, but I have always had a penchant for posters! If you could see my house, my artwork is a bunch of posters from etsy.com. Of course the standard issue 'Keep Calm and Carry On' as well as some other things. I just love posters. They're a darn good size, too!
So... back on track. I am going to try to figure out how to get a poster out as an invitation. Brian is concerned (my brother) that people will not know that the poster that they just received IS their invitation, so I am figuring I will just slap a post-it (so tacky, I know) that states 'This IS your invitation'. Bah. Good enough!
So here's my inspiration. I guess I should just come clean with my life-sized girl crush on Anna Bond of Rifle Design's work. Serious girl crush righ here.
Any of you have any experience with posters as invites? Recommendations, ideas, ANYthing???
I had better figure out how to work Photoshop now... ugh. not looking forward to this.
I'll keep everyone posted as to how homely MINE comes out. I hope to make something kind of cool.
Has anyone checked out this site befoer?? Super cool!
Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!!
The Lucky Couple
I usually do not win things SO I am super duper stoked!!!
I entered a give-away for free photography in the southern CA area. I forwarded Mike & my story and then let her know up-front that I was not within her 75 mile travel radius, so Mike and I would pick up the travel, over-night whatever-needed-tab if she would select us and come photograph us.
WELL.... long story short, I think I just found my favorite thing in the wedding - next to Mike!! She is funny, thoughtful, creative, a wonderful photographer with a great sense of style! I cannot wait to make her feel welcomed in our historic part of Phoenix and to give her anything she needs to have a good time on our special day!
Super excited right now!
I'm telling you, she works magic with a camera!
SO LADIES!! GO FOR THE GIVEAWAYS!!!! There's a ton! If you need good blogs to search, email me or ask right here. I've got a zillion and a bunch are doing giveaways right now. :)
