Honeymoon
Back from our Honeymoon in Europe
We came back on January 4th and it was GREAT! We loved every minute of it and we definitely recommend it. We started off in Rome and then went on a small side tour of Naples and Pompeii, then we went to Venice, Luzern in Switzerland, Paris, and then London from which we went on a tour of Bath, Stonehenge, Stratford and upon Avon. Trafalgar tours was awesome and it was the most memorable experience of our lives, aside from the wedding that is! Our tour was from Dec 25 to Jan. 3 so we were in Rome for Christmas and Paris on New Years Eve.

Wedding Decoration
Manzanita Tree
So my uncle made these to fit into two nooks inside the hall. The first was a manzanita tree with carnations balls and a white peacock. He also used our cake topper monogram that we didn't end up using in the cake. The second, which you can see there behind us, was a tall black glass vase with branches and really big silver magnolias. They were both very pretty.

DIY Wedding
DIY Flowers
The day before the wedding, my uncle, the master florist, along with my sisters, nieces, sister in law, soon to be sister in law and cousin in law, my cousins, and myself made all the flower arrangements at my house. It was crazy but with so many helping out we finished in record time (according to my uncle who is said to have stayed up until midnight finish flowers for weddings) We had 18 tall arrangements to make and 18 short arrangements as well as a Manzanita tree that would go in the nook behind the cake and a huge 5 foot arrangement that would go in the nook behind our sweethearts table. Everything came out great and Commerce flowers transported everything for us to the hall the following morning. Though I was not there to see it myself, my brother told me the ride was bumpy and my uncle had to fix most of the arrangements before they went on the tables. In the end, everything looked great!

We're Married!! Non-Pro Pics
Were married! I had not posted anything in a while because things got really crazy before the wedding. These pictures are from myspace and facebook but our professional pictures should be in soon.
As for the wedding itself, I think it went great! Sure there were things that did not go EXACTLY as planned but over all it was just what we wanted. The Good! It was a wonderful day. It was a little cold but beautiful. All the girls looked great in their dresses, the guys looked awesome in their Zoots, and the cars! Oh the Cars! The hall looked great, the band was rockin! The order of events went pretty well, we didnt really lag on anything. The flowers were gorgeous and of course everyone LOVED the open bar. I was worried that with only 5 drinks wed have unhappy guests but I think we picked such a good variety (plus it was free) that no one seemed to mind. The BAD! We had early morning showers, which freaked me out but thankfully cleared up pretty quickly. One of the cars didnt start but we left it behind and headed to church with the other two. I forgot the garter! We improvised by using my brothers tie and then promising the winner a garter at a later date. And last, but not least, the slide show got paused in the wrong place and had to start over. Thankfully, my brother managed the situation and no one seemed to care. The UGLY! There were a few drunken people who got out of hand but luckily it was 5 minutes from the end of the reception so they were scooted on home before making a big scene. I will do a vender review later because I have to give proper credit where credit is deserved. |

Ask a Question
Can the Bride see the Groom Before the wedding???
I have nine days left! My FH is supposed to go pick up his Zoot this Friday and he wants me to go with him but I started thinking, if the groom can't see the brides dress before the wedding, can I see him in his Zoot? I know that it has more to do with personal preference than with MUST DO but I was just wondering what everyone else is doing.

Wedding Reception
How Many More Guests????
So I had been doing a semi-good job keeping calm but now that we are so close to the wedding I am freaking out! Our due date for RSVP's was this Saturday and we got a lot in this past week with BIG numbers. After doing a second guest count its starting to look like we are right at the 300 mark. My sister and mom suggested we add a few more tables and increase our number with the caterers so that we aren't embarrassed if our numbers continue to grow and/or we get unexpected guest. After talking with the caterer and hall it looks like we are going to spend about $1000 more. I think that is good cause to freak out! 18 days left and its getting intense!!

DIY Wedding
Ring Pillows and Guestbook
I have been sooooo sick these past couple of days. I got a really bad cold and I havent really felt like doing anything after work except sleeping but then I realized my wedding is this month and I still have tons of things to do. So, I took half a bottle of Nyquil and got to work! I found these two square pillows in my moms garage that she says I bought and I say she bough some years back. Seeing as nobody wanted to claim them I took them and asked my aunt to make some red slips for them from a satin red sheet set I had that another aunt gave me for Christmas a few years back. I then took some black ribbon, glued it around the pillow along with a black bow, added some feather and I have my two ring pillows.
Next, I had bought a red scrapbook last Christmas to make a Christmas scrapbook of my family but never got around to it. So I took off the sheet protectors, punched holes in the paper, added black ribbon, a bow, and feather and I have a guestbook. I still have to make the wedding favors but Im going to get my nieces to help me out. |

Ceremony
Mariachi at the Ceremony???
I know its weird but tradition in my family calls for a mariachi at the wedding so I figured I'd have it at the church to avoid it being out of the loop with my theme at the recetion. I actually love Mariachi at weddings. I know it must sound weird but its actually very nice.I guess it works for my Mexican 1940s wedding lol.
