Which Bari Jay dress should I pick for my girls???
Hello ladies! I know its been more than a long time since I posted something new on here. Life has been pretty crazy lately, but i'm back. :-) So now on to the good stuff...
In a previous post, I wrote about my love for a Bari Jay bridesmaid dress that came in the GORGEOUS purple color and has a detachable skirt so my girls can really bust a move in their gown at the reception. Well Bari Jay apparently has another AWESOME purple dress with yet again... A DETACHABLE SKIRT as well! I'm goin crazy for both of them and have no idea which one I like more. Should I do both and have my MOH in one and the rest of the girls in the other? Should have everyone as one cohesive group and wear the same thing? I don't know what to do. Help me out ladies! |

Found an AMAZING site that can do it in ANY COLOR!
So usually i'm not a fan of ads on the side of a page that I may be on while browsing, but this was sooooo worth it. After looking for a wedding invitation that could fit my color scheme (Purple, Black & White Damask), I was about ready to give up on finding one. Change of Date
The wedding has been moved back... a lot!
So my original wedding date of June 23rd, 2012 has officially been moved back... to 2013. :-/ Me and the FH have decided that we need to have more time to save up the money needed for our dream wedding and honeymoon. I mean I know its the right thing to do, but I can't say that i'm not disappointed because I am some. In the mean time, I will still be planning things for my big day, going to a wedding in Jamaica, and being Wedding Planner to my other cousin's wedding that will take place next July. She has summoned me as Maid of Honor on top of it all too. So wedding stuff will continue to be in my life for the next 2 years+. Yay!

Wedding Reception
Another Option for me to Ponder Upon...
Ladies I have yet again found another place to possibly hold my wedding reception. I as I previously posted, I told you about my love for the new W Hotel in Washington, D.C. My cousin, who is also planning a wedding, made the call to find out how much the W would cost us. Let's just say this, unless I get picked for "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera", IT AIN'T HAPPENIN' CAP'N! Lol. So I started looking around. And I found a place that seemed to capture my attention. 500 ft. ceiling, a butterfly staircase for grand entrance, marble floors, a 50 ft. glass atrium ceiling, and right in the hear of D.C. blocks only blocks away from The White House. *cheesing from excitement* The name of this place is the Galleria at Lafayette Center. Looking at weddings that were done here, I figured that only the rich and/or famous could afford the place, but from what I have found out, its well within most budgets. Because its in the atrium of a office building, its waaaay cheaper then it would be at a neighboring hotel. *coughs while saying "The W". Lol* The place comes with security guards, works with most caterers in the area, and can accommodate up to 400 people and even smaller scaled weddings of 90. I have posted pics. of some views of the place before decorated so you ladies can see the scale of how large this room is without any tables or decor and then pictures of actually weddings and receptions that have taken place here. Please tell me your thoughts! Thanks.

Another Idea For My Girls
As many of you ladies know, I LOVE the dresses by designer Bari Jay. I found a new dress that I think my girls would love. That promote the elegance I would want during the ceremony and then it has a detachable skirt so they can be more comfortable during the reception! Two dresses for the price of one basically. It comes in my color purple too. But I thought about maybe doing black since its very classic. Ladies, tell me what you think please. Thanx!

I tried not to fall in love with it, but.....
I have become in love wit the idea of adding the wonderful black and white print of Damask in my wedding! Not too much, but jus lil accents of it here and there! So now my color scheme is purple, with touches of black and white damask!

Something else is catching my eye...
I hate being so indecisive, but I just cant get this other venue outta my mind. As I wrote in earlier posts, I decided to have my wedding and reception at Oxon Hill Manor (right outside of D.C.) Its absolutely breathtaking, but i'm worried about if there is enough room for the amount of guests that are expected and the budget to accomodate them. I have seen pictures from other brides that had their wedding there, and most have their aisle in the same spot. But their is NO WAY all my family and friends will fit in this particular section. We talkin about 200 ppl (and hopefully less)! And because the inside of the ballroom be too cramped for everyone, I decided to opt for a tent reception. But tent receptions ARE NOT CHEAP! Oxon Hill provides one, but its completely vinyl (which is not what I want). So due to this ordeal, I have started looking at other places that could give my the glitzy, romantic, and modern feel I was looking for. And ladies I've found one. The brand spankin new W Hotel in D.C. The rooms are incredible and they have a ballroom called Altitude which is on the very top floor of the hotel with ceiling to floor windows. Its beautiful! They have everything I like and then some! The main ballroom is beyond modern, yet still screams classy. I took in consideration that maybe this could be a great place for my out-of-town-guest to stay at after the festivities and alot of the things I would need to put in my tent at Oxon Hill Manor would already be provided for us. No worry about generators, getting a dance floor, etc. And i'm pretty sure that if I have my wedding there, I would have a pretty decent wedding package (food and drink for reception, bridal suite, room after wedding, etc.) But i really want to get married outside. UGH! This is so difficult for me! Ladies please help me. Pictures to the left are of the W Hotel D.C. The Oxon Hill Manor pics are in an earlier blog. A great site to find your perfect honeymoon spot!
So ladies if you don't know, I am a "bargainista" as my mother tells me. LOL. I love finding the best stuff for my money. I know that my wedding is gonna be pretty pricey so I'm all for for finding a deal or two for my honeymoon. I really would love to have a week long, all inclusive, honeymoon package at some exotic location, but the prices are so high! I would love to have the butler service, couples massage and the whole 9 but geeze $7000 without even including airfare is enough for me to say enough is enough! So, with quite alot of researching, I have found a website where I can rent penthouses, houses, villas, you name it ALL ACROSS THE WORLD for an astronomical lower price then what these hotels and resorts are trying to get us to pay for! its called homeaway.com Some of these places come with maid service everyday, private beaches, and even tons of reviews (with pictures) of these places. But I still want the feel of being pampered for once in my life. I mean it is my honeymoon and all! But I just can't shake these resort prices. Therefore, I will just enjoy saving my money and pick my honeymoon location through homeaway.com Seriously, check them out! Now.... where should I go?!?!? I have my heart set on Turks and Caicos and the FH has mentioned Fiji to me a couple times. We want to go somewhere warm and tropical. And ideas ladies?

Wedding Music And Songs
If we did thee un-thinkable, would it make us look crazy...
is just part of the lyrics that i quoted from Alicia Keys' newest single "Un-Thinkable". I think this is going to be the wedding processional song and I come in on the bridge of the song. I cry just about everytime I hear it because it fits me and my FH so perfectly. And the lyrics are so meaningful to me... words that we have said to each other in the years of us being together. And just to walk to the end of the aisle and to look into his eyes and being able mouth the words "I'm Ready" just like in the song will have me flowing tears. I'm not sure if I want to do the vocal version of the song or if I want someone to play it on the piano such as the one below. But here are the lyrics, in all their moving glory. I really think this is the song for me ladies. Tearing up writing this... but with complete joy and happiness. What's your processional song going to be? And how long should it be?
