INEXPENSIVE FUCHSIA ROSE PETALS!!

So, I've been hearing about rose petals purchased from Ebay. They're VERY affordable, but they all have to be peeled one by one. I decided to give the ones at Dollar Tree a go. They sell them in packs of 300 for $1. Problem is, they're WHITE, LIGHT PINK, or RED. I need FUCHSIA. So, I purchased only 3 packs (for this trial)...and a box of powder RIT fabric dye. I think they turned out pretty good...BUT...I they are a bit stringy at the ends (some of them). So, for 900 fuchsia rose petals...($3), rit dye ($2 from Michael's) Here are the steps I took to dye these....

You'll need:
Big Pot
Spatula or Large Spoon
Vinegar
Salt
RIT Dye
Rose Petals (of course, lol)
An old pillowcase or towel

Instructions:
Bring water to simmer..
Pour in petals (be sure that all of them are soaked in the pot)
Pour in dye
pour in a cup of vinegar
pour in tablespoon of salt
stir occasionally until desired color...(I kept mine in for 2 hours on medium heat)
After you achieve desired shade...RINSE IN COLD WATER, place in towel and towel dry...or place in old pillow case and toss in dryer on low heat, or air fluff.

Working that RIT dye, huh????  Good for you girlie!  I think they looked great. Which one is easier? Ordering them and peeling, or dying, boiling and drying?  LOL  No matter what, they look great!  How did the flower centerpiece work with the dye in the water?

THANK YOU LADIES!! I really wanted to order petals from Ebay because they were so inexpensive ($5 for 1000. But after reading negative comments about taking too long to ship, sending the wrong colors, and having to peel 1000's of petals one by one...I had to find another solution. Michael's sell 140 petals for $8 so that was DEFINITELY out of the question! I saw these in Dollar Tree...and HAD TO TRY the dye! ACTUALLY, I thought about (ourrenewalsagain) when I saw the petals. She suggested the RIT dye to me when wanted to make FUCHSIA water. So, she definitely helped in this idea. I'm even thinking about dyeing my chair covers now! lol

hahahahaha @ ourrenewalsagain...I was JUST looking for your comment so I could get your username! lol WHAT A COINKY-DINK!! lol I'm not sure which is easier..but I may order some to figure that out. The one (can't remember the full name 'darrylluvs') posted...I went to their ebay page...selected fuchsia rose petals, and purple ones popped up! lol. So, that led me to their feedback..they had 140 in a year. A LOT of people complained of them sending the wrong color, taking too long to ship, and some didn't get theirs at all.lol So THAT is what MAINLY scared me. The peeling is scary too...I can't see myself sitting in a spot long enough to peel 4000 rose petals.lol Then again, I'm really not sure about what you guys meant by "peeling". I'm thinking of really sitting there, concentrating trying to pry them apart.lol

Plainjayne: You are cracking me up!  Honestly, I don't know which ones are easier?  I didn't have a problem with my order (Luckily)...When you go on Ebay, you may see purple petals, but over to the right column, you can select their chart and the color changes to what you want. I can see why some people may have gotten the wrong colors ordered. You have to pay attention to the catergory box once selected. Peeling process was not fun. They are about 25 petals per stack, compressed tight. You would take your top two index fingers and thumb rub together and they come apart. Honestly, it really wasn't to bad. Just needed to relax anyway at the time and watch a good movie with the fam-bam. Hehehehe. It really didn't take to long. About a good 1 hour to do 1000 petals. If you have help, it would be faster. It also helped with using a clean wet sponge and keeping that near to rub your finger tips on the petals or an easier peal. LOL

Again, I don't know which one is better?  Seems like you got a good system going now, keep it up and get some more petals from Dollar Tree. (smile)...Your drying technique is so funny. The Pillow Case method!

@ourrenewalsagain Okay..now that doesn't sound bad! I may order some anyway. I'm just gonna order them SUPER EARLY! But copy and paste this link and tell me what you see when you select FUCHSIA.lol I'm just gonna GO FOR IT! If it doesn't work out, I'll just stick to this. Dyeing wasn't really that bad..I just had to keep running down stairs to check on the color.lol *slick workout*

oMg!! i SAW THAT LINK...Don't order from them, that's the problem with mishaps!

Make sure that the distributor is in USA!  Not Hong Kong...I don't order from China and that will possibly delay your shipment.

Try this one in USA:

ourrenewalsagain Thank you for the links! I think I'm going to stick with the dyeing just to stay under budget. The link you sent me are very inexpensive..but I'm cutting corners like HECK to save money.lol I think I'm gonna just dye some...then (take a chance) and order a few from the place darylluvstarah ordered from. Since we're having the same color petals...HOPEFULLY, I'll be as lucky as her to be shipped the right ones.I need 5 or 6000 petals (because I'm using them to boarder the aisle runner,..and as table runners).

The link you sent me, I'd be paying $96 for 6000 petals.
From darylluvstarah link, I'd be paying $27 for 6000 petals.
To buy and dye my own, I'd be paying $23 for 6000 petals.

I'm gonna order today so i'll have plenty of time to receive them and have time to "fix" the problem if one occurs.

I just did. I had already gone to Hobby Lobby and Michael's.. those would run me $120 for the amount I need. Plus they don't have orange...so, I'd subsequently have to dye some anyway.lol  Geeeze I can't win for losing!
