Backyard Wedding Ceremony & Recreation Center Reception
Our wedding date isn't available! It's all my fault!

It's ALL MY FAULT that I waited this long to book our venue. 2 days ago, I tried to book it for July 28...and they're booked until AUGUST! I choose to look at it as a blessing. I was going to change the date....but I'm set on having it on my beautiful niece's birthday. Sooooo...me being "EL CHEAPO" ANNDDDDD considering my grandmother begged everyone who got married in our family to marry in her backyard (which they all declined). WE'RE going to be the 1st couple to marry in the backyard (my mom and dad married in her living room). Anywho, I figure SOMEBODY must've known I could handle something like this (I beg to differ, but I'll try). We'll be having the wedding ceremony in the backyard..and the reception in an old auditorium where my uncle works....both venues are FREE (of course) but the $500 I saved from losing the other venue, I'll probably have to spend in fabric. The auditorium is SUPER UGLY....No, I won't say that...It has CHARACTER...but I do see a lot of potential. I've added pics of the reception place...ALL DECOR IDEAS ARE WELCOME! :-)

hey doll :) ok first of all the backyard ceremony is a blessing because your grandma has wanted the family to marry in the backyard and since they all declined you guys will be the first she's totally gonna bless yall and so will God because it will be a wish come true for your grandma, as long as you both are fine and happy with it that's all that matters and it will be a beautiful ceremony :)

As for the reception hall looking at that picture not to sound too nice or unrealistic but i think it is fine! it has so much space and potential once you put up the tables, chairs, linen and décor you'll be amazed at what you'll get! I've seen places you can call UGLY but this one from the bottom of my heart i know you'll have the reception you long to have as long as things are in place and set up it will be super fine hunnie!!! Off course you have your opinion of it but im praying that God enables you to do it up to your desired design :)

much love xox

I've seen some really cute backyard weddings and it's a blessing in disguise because you get to save money.

I actually like your wedding reception venue...it does have a lot potential and it has a stage which is good :-)....Just get some draping around the room and you'll be good to go. You and your hubby can have your sweetheart table on the stage and you just need some table chairs with linens and you'll be good to go.

I must agree with the other ladies. You will be creating a memory that the family will cherish, and it will bring a new meaning to what your grandmother house meas to you and yes to her. I think the reception site is great!
The space is open for so many ideas. I too like the fact that it has a stage. Just a few ideas: If you don't like the perimeter of the space you can always do the pipe and draping of fabric which will create your own look. Next there is even enough space to create a small lounge area if you wanted to section that off with more draping so it will feel like it's another room. The sweethearts table placed on the stage gives you the alone time, and makes you the focus point of the room.  Even placing the cake table on the stage will again put the focus on the two of you as the guest gather to watch the cutting of the cake. Those are just my ideas.
I may be a little bias were at home weddings are concerned. We are having our entire event at my fmils. I love the idea, you can make it your own very special day. You create the look not go by the standard of every other wedding. I hope this works out for you. Stay positive!!!
