NWR: Cherry Pie Womans Show
our cakes were asked to be in the show!
So this has nothing to do with my wedding, but with weddings in general so I thought I would post since I am so excited! On Monday we got a call from this lady that runs Cherry Pie, which is a very popular womans show that is meant for new and local businesses to network. She had stumbled across our company and called us to say that she was GIVING US a booth (ie we didn't have to pay for it) but that it was on Tuesday!! We spent alllll day/night Monday and Tuesday making mock cakes and samples and it was a HUGE success!
We met so many wonderful women (it was for women only), and made tons of contacts. There were tons of brides to be there, so we booked some more weddings too! Very excited! |

Wedding Flowers
i love flowers. bouquet ideas
I LOVE FLOWERS! As I have mentioned before, my mom is a floral designer, so growing up we were also surrounded by beautiful floral arrangements. Now my issue is....my wedding is in September, when all my favs are NOT available...and where we live you can't even get most flowers out of season, even if you want to pay big bucks.
So fav flowers...peony, ranuculus, celosia, roses (esperance), orchids...to name a few. So peonies are out :( and apparently I can't have my celosia and possibly ranuculus....soooooo on to new things. I definitely want dusty miller, because it is silver (goes with my colours) and it is different! My mom might get me some silk celosia if I really want it...but I don't know. We might do some dahlias too. I found a few bouquets that I like...and I am loving the bouquet on the cover of In Style Weddings with the pink berries ahh (p.s. a pronovias dress that is almost exactly the same as mine graces the pages of the magazine in one of the editorials in the style section WOOO, it has a different top though) My mom brought me home some ranuculus from the shop 2 days ago, and they have opened so beautifully I had to take some photos! Any comments would be awesome :) |

bridesmaid dresses!
think I finally found them
So I think I FINALLY found the bridesmaid dresses and I am so excited! They are going to be custom made by a fabulous designer in Toronto! Obviously they are going to be altered...they will definitely not be so revealing! lol She said she can make it however I want, and suggested have it just cross over in the front would probably be the best.
I really hate bridesmaid dresses! (no offense to anyone) I have went to tons of bridal shops here in Ottawa, and have been thoroughly disappointed. I was actually told off by this one lady at a dress store and she said "At the end of the day YOU'RE ONLY A BRIDESMAID," and stormed off because we politely said that the dresses weren't our style. LOL I don't want my girls to look like bridesmaids, but more like they are dressed for a cocktail party. I was considering doing different dresses, but I found that to be challenging as well....due to the lack of variety here. (Don't get me wrong, I have seen some gorgeous dresses, but they are all not available anywhere around here, or are like $500, which is crazy) She has 2 shades of platinum, one is a silver and one is more of a slate. My sisters were in Toronto this weekend, Mercedes had an audition, so they went and tried them on. My mom looked at the fabric swatches and said that she didn't really like any of the pinks, but I definitely need to go check them out sometime in the next few weeks! I think the ruffles at the bottom are so cute and will look amazing with my dress!!!! What do you think? Keep in mind that they WONT be so revealing Oh and she also said that she could make the flower girl dresses! I am thinking now that they girls are going to be more like junior bridesmaids/flower girls since they are going to be 8 and 9. I think would like them to wear a really pale pink, and she said she could do them with tank or spaghetti straps, long or tea length, with a silver sash! SO CUTE! |

wedding band shopping
couldn't make a desicion + e-ring sized!
So today FH and I went wedding band shopping, and I couldn't make a decision as per usual. I scratched the pink sapphire idea...I think it would be better suited for a right hand ring, it looked too cheap against my e-ring.
I have it narrowed down to 2, which look similar to the photos, but are not them. One is similar to a channel set, but it's not, as the diamonds are still held up by prongs. The other is just diamonds in a row held up by prongs also. I am still going with the two bands probably...I thought it looked awesome. Also, and best of all I got my e-ring sized!!! It was a size 4 3/4, and was brought down to a 4!! Our jeweler said that I have the longest and skinniest fingers he has ever seen lol I asked him an opinion on which of the 2 bands he liked better and was like, "your long skinny fingers are throwing me off I'm going to need a minute." haha FH and I went to lunch, came back and he had it all sized free of charge! I think he likes us haha Any opinions on the rings would be greatly appreciated! |

flowers & cake
My mom is amazing! She made these center pieces for a huge 40th birthday at the Chateau Laurier, and we made the cake. I love them...so is truly so talented, I can't wait to see what she comes up with for the wedding! I would love to have something like this, although with pink not purple.
The budget for this party was...wait for it...$15,000!!! Could you image spending $15, 000 on a 40th birthday!! |

engagement party
engagement party was awesome!!
Tonight we had our engagement party, and it was so much fun! Lucas' family came from 1-4 hours away for the party, and everyone finally got to meet, (although the immediate family already knew each other) We had an open bar, and it was at a restaurant that only does this HUGE buffet, and the food was amazing!
There were 83 guests, 17 of which were kids! We put out some brown paper on the tables with crayons, colouring books, and had a bingo game with prizes and the kids LOVED it! They were so well behaved, I would definitely recommend a kiddie table to anyone who is having children at the wedding! Can't wait to organize ours. We got almost everything off of our registry, and cash which is awesome! I am thrilled that everyone got to meet, and had such a good time! :) |

Ask a Question
what will be your transportation on the big day?
Hi ladies,
Just curious what everyone will driving in on their wedding day?? I would love to do something vintage, like an old Rolls Royce, which my cousin had like 10 years ago and was gorgeous for photos, but we will be driving in our limo. FH and his business partners recently bought a limo, for some personal uses, and to run as a business (lame I know lol), but he said that since we have it, we should just use it! ugh at least I convinced them to get a white one haha He also said that since the drive from house to ceremony to reception are all within 5 minutes, it wouldn't really be worth the $ of a hummer limo or something else...which I guess is true We are also having a bus that will be picking up all of the out of towners...Lucas' family live 1 hour drive to across province distances so they will be staying in a hotel about 10 minutes away. We wanted to provide a bus to avoid anyone from drinking and driving. I will probably let my parents drive my Mercedes too...although Im sure mom won't want the top down so her hair doesn't get ruined lol |

200 days!!
+ engagement party in a week!
200 days until the best day of my life!!!
Next Sunday is our engagement party, which will be held in a restaurant banquet room with an all you can eat buffet consisting of pasta/pizza stations, carving stations, soup/salad bar, desert bar... We are having all family, except for the bridal part, which is just under 85 guests, about 17 of those are kiddies. I have been working on the favours, and I just need to print out the labels that I made for them and I will be all done. I am so excited about them, they are a set of 4 stainless cheese knives with wooden handles, and I got the best deal! I LOVE cheese, and I think they go well with our wedding favours (see below) For the set of 4 they were on SALE for $1.24 each, and the bags, which they just happened to have in pink and platinum, were only .44cents each! WOOOHOO go me!! Will post photos after the party! xo |
