My wedding dress is diamond white called Harriet by Maggie it should be coming in the next 2 months!
Sorry I haven't posted in so long! We have been doing a lot of wedding planning (especially in November), so I will update soon. =D
Anyway, I had my first fitting appointment last week! I am so happy with my dress, I could do a naked dance!!! =P
It fit perfectly! The only things they're changing are the bust (it's very slightly too big - I don't want to go flashing anyone!) and the length -- I'm too short, still! They had already taken 3" off of the original length! =P
They're also going to bustle it for me, so I can wear it in the evening without the train getting dirty and/or damaged.
So, check out my lovely photos! I can't stop looking at them!! <3 <3
Just bought my wedding shoes!
I just bought my wedding shoes online. Well - my mum has bought them for me, for my birthday in (just over) two weeks! Hehe!!
They're from Monsoon, and they are gorgeous. I tried them on in store, but the only pair they had in my size was on the shop floor, so they were slightly grotty. So I decided to get them online, and my mum offered to buy them for my birthday. <3 <3
What do you think, girlies? Do you think it matters that they are ivory and my dress is white?
Save the Dates
So, I've been messing around with some bits and I think I've come up with my Save the Date prototype!
I'll need to get these out soon!! =D
What do you think?
Me in The Dress
Well, yesterday, me, my mum and my MIL2B all went to make the final decision on the dress and order it!! Yay!!!! =D
Because we did order in the end, I was able to take some photos! =D I have taken my face out of them just in case someone I know stumbles onto this page (I know they won't, but I don't want anyone to see it until the day!).
So let me know what you think, girlies!! =)
I bought her dress!
Today, my dad, step-mum, [half-]sister and [half-]brother came to visit! =D We took them into town and I immediately directed my sister (who has just turned 6 - she'll be 7 at our wedding) to Debenhams, where I'd seen a few dresses I'd love her to try on and wear one as our flower girl.
Well, she tried one on (age 8), and it looked lovely! She was so proud wearing it, I decided to buy it because, although it was a tiny bit too big, she will grow into it. =) So here are some pictures of the lovely dress for our flower girl, my little sister.
AND I didn't even have to buy it - my step-mum offered to buy it. =) How lovely of her. <3
Just a few pink rose bouquets I found through Google. =D
How long did you date before you got engaged?
5 years and 10 months.
Did you get the ring you wanted?
Yes! He picked it all by himself (with some help from his mum), but it's perfect for me.
Was the proposal a complete surprise?
Yes. We had talked about it earlier in the year, but I had completely forgotten!
Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small?
I don't wish anything about my ring; it's just perfect for me.
Did you cry when he proposed?
When do you want to go for your honeymoon?
We have to go a month after the wedding, because I won't have finished my year at uni yet.
Are you buying his wedding band for him?
Yeah, I think I will.
Have you gone over your original wedding budget?
Not yet, but it's still early days. We may well go over.
What day of the year will your wedding be?
It's on a Saturday. The 10th July 2010, to be precise!
What kind of weather?
Hopefully, it will be hot.... but that's UK hot, so it won't be too uncomfortable.
Inside or outside?
Our wedding? Inside - it's not classed as a legal wedding in the UK to get married outside.
Church/justice of the peace/other?
How many people will be there?
Time of day?
We're thinking probably at about 2pm.
Any kind of theme?
Not really - just a colour scheme.
How many bridesmaids? Who would they be?
5. My chief bridesmaid is my best friend, Megan. Then we are having my other friend Emma, my cousins Sadie and Leila and h2b's cousin, Megan.
What kind of cake/what will it look like?
Not sure at all, at the moment. Hopefully 3 tiers, so it's traditional. Maybe the top tier a fruit cake, and the others Victoria sponge.
Where will you have the reception?
It's at a hotel about a half hour drive from the church.
What kind of dress will you have/color/material?
It is a Maggie Sottero dress in white. It's all absolutely top secret, so hopefully my h2b (or anyone I know) won't check out this website!
What kind of flowers in your bouquet?
Roses. I haven't thought about adding different flowers - it's definitely something to think about. I love peonies.
Kind of engagement ring?
It's an 18ct yellow gold band with a round 0.5ct diamond solitaire in a clutch setting.
Kind of wedding bands?
We haven't thought about it too much yet, but I just want simple plain 18ct yellow gold bands.
How will you wear your hair?
Well, having found my dress, I definitely don't need to do a lot to my hair. I'll have it mostly down with a little up to hold the veil and tiara. Perhaps some loose wavy curls.
Who will be important to be there?
Our families and close friends.
Will the reception be big or small?
Average - probably about 120+ people.
What will the groom wear?
We haven't got that far yet. Though, he does want to wear a top hat!
How old will you and the groom be?
I will be 24 (one month off my 25th) and he will be 25.
How long will you be engaged before you get married?
2 years and 11 months!
Live together before or wait till married?
We've lived together since we got engaged.
Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple?
I am taking my time, so I know that it will be a great day. I don't want to miss anything out!
Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding?
We're doing it ourselves with our families' help.
Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made?
August 13th 2007.
When?: My 22nd birthday: 13th August 2007
Where?: In our cabin on a boat on the Norfolk Broads, moored up at a town called Loddon.
We were on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads with Alex's parents, his brother (Greg) and Greg's (now ex-)girlfriend, Danielle.
The night before my 22nd birthday, I had been very ill with food poisoning, and was worried I wouldn't enjoy my birthday.
On the morning of my birthday, I felt myself again and we all got up at 7am (as it's very difficult to have a lie-in on a boat!). When I walked into the lounge area of the boat, I was really surprised to see loads of birthday banners and birthday balloons decorating the boat. I had a birthday card and present opening session in the living area and then Alex asked if I wanted to go and snuggle in our cabin. I agreed, and we went into the bedroom.
I went and lay on the bed, ready for cuddling, but Alex stayed standing after closing the door. He asked me to join him and to stand in front of him. He kept saying, "Come here." and I got all nervous when he said, "I've got a question to ask you."
I stood in front of him and, while producing a small box from his pocket, he got down on one knee in our tiny cabin. Shaking, he asked, "Will you marry me?" By this point, I was crying and shaking and was sure my voice wouldn't work. I managed to whisper, "Yes." and we hugged for ages. I could feel him shaking and I was so happy that we were engaged.
Alex put the ring on my finger and said, "We have to tell my parents now." I was scared; they didn't know? What if they thought it was a joke when we told them? Do they like me enough? These were the stupid questions going through my head!
Walking out of our cabin, the first person I saw was Kev (Alex's dad), and he was holding a video camera! Poppers started going off, and the whole family cheered. Kev asked, "Did she say 'yes'?" and Alex said, "She said 'yes'!" They all had known all along!
Looking around the living area, I noticed that - while Alex and I had been in our cabin - his family had replaced all the birthday banners and balloons with engagement ones!
Our engagement totally overshadowed my birthday, but I didn't care; you get a birthday every year!
The proposal was more than I could ever have asked for, and it was so great having peope that I love around me to share it with straight afterwards.
My engagement ring is an 18ct yellow gold band with 0.5ct solitaire diamond. It's absolutely perfect for me!

Our First Dance
I have found her. My wedding dress.
I tried on about 8 dresses on Wednesday, and I was completely torn between two of them - and I mean torn; 50/50!! But I think I have made my final decision now. Every time I picture our wedding day, I see myself in this dress, and not the other. That, to me, is my heart telling me which one I prefer.
So, on my wedding day (July 10th 2010), I will be wearing 'Harriet' by Maggie Sottero.
