Ask a Question
Am I wrong for wearing WHITE???
It's me again...lol!
The new issue this week is, "you're REALLY wearing a WHITE wedding dress?" That's the question I get everytime someone in my family asks what color my dress is. I'm a mother of one (a nine-year-old) and I'm almost 30. My FH has a four-year-old and we intend to have a baby in the next few years. However, my family is straight acting CRAZY because they think I should be wearing an ivory dress or something other than white because of my church wedding. I feel like this: it's my wedding...I'm only getting married once, and my dream is to be wed in a white gown with bling and and some blinged out shoes!!! My mother is the only one who hasn't said anything yet (to me anyway...lol!) about the dress being white. Am I wrong in my thought process...or should these family members just learn to suck it up and watch me walk down the aisle in my white get-up???? ![]() |

DIY Wedding
Bridesmaid and MOH Jewelry...
Hey!!! It's been a couple of days, but I was getting a little frustrated with planning due to some CRAZY reason. However, I found a style of jewelry for the ladies that I loved online but it wasn't very affordable ($30 per set...the math on that: 10 ladies (including the JBM and flower girl x $30 per jewelry set = too much money for something that may only be worn once!). So, the new crafty side of me said..."make em yourself!!!" I ordered 20 snake chains from eBay for ~ $17, went to Hobby Lobby's sale where they had beads and findings on sale for 50% off, and went to work! The earring tags were purchased from Michaels for about $4 for 24. I couldn't find any jewelry boxes, so I opted for little organza bags.
Sorry for the blue tint, but the black stones are pearls and the beading is crystal AB swarovski style. So...what do you ladies think about this idea? ![]() |

Wedding Dress
THEY SENT PICS...IT'S FINISHED!!! :)
So, on my OTHER blog (that was semi-deleted...put on hold...blocked or something), I spoke about a dress that I decided to order from Dressilyme.com because I REALLY wanted the Maggie Sottero Michelle (an older dress style) but I didn't want to pay $1300 for it. Well, I ordered this dress on August 27th...and it's finished (total you wonder...$258.70...and that INCLUDED SHIPPING)!!! I wasn't expecting it to be complete this fast (and yes, I cried when I saw these pics for the first time this morning). I'm lost for words!!! If it looks ANYTHING in person like it does in these pics, I'll be more than happy!!! :)
I just have one more request for the back of the dress and they should be shipping it soon!!! :D ***UPDATED: I decided to remove the main pics of the dress due to my nosey family and friends...lol! (Gotta love em!) ![]() |

Wedding Planner
(Less than) 10 months to go!!!
So, I've never done this so I figured...why not!?! I AM MY OWN WEDDING PLANNER...and for a VERY good reason. :) Here's what I have going on: (the items with the *** have already been completed) 12 MONTHS OR MORE BEFORE THE WEDDING ***Announce your intention to marry to BOTH sets of parents. Arrange to have them meet if they haven't already. ***Determine type (formal, semi-formal, informal), style and theme of the wedding. Make a list of what is important to you for your wedding; this will help you determine your budget. Sit down with your fiance and ALL parents and discuss the wedding budget, and who will pay for what. ***Get or make a wedding organizer (a 3 ring binder with pockets works great). Use it to store all your information, contracts, ideas, photos, etc. ***Speak with your clergy/officiant and review synagogue/church requirements. ***Come up with 2 or 3 possible wedding dates and start looking for ceremony and reception venues. If a venue you like is available on one of your chosen dates, book it immediately; many venues will often be booked up to 2 years in advance, so have several choices in mind beforehand in case they are already booked. If you are using one, start looking for and book a wedding consultant. 9 TO 11 MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING Start looking for and interviewing all the remaining vendors: ***Photographer Videographer ***Caterer (if needed) ***Officiant (if needed) ***Florist If any vendor you like is available on your date and is within your budget, book them IMMEDIATELY! Like reception and ceremony venues, many of these vendors can be booked up to a year in advance. Together with your parents, begin compiling your preliminary guest list. You can always narrow down this list to fit within your size requirements and budget limitations at a late date. ***Start getting ideas by looking through bridal magazines, going to Bridal Fairs and doing research on the internet. ***Finalize your wedding colors, theme and style. ***Select your attendants (bridesmaids, groomsmen, ushers, flower girl and ring bear) and ask them to honor you by being in your wedding. Make sure they are aware of what their "duties" are. ***Choose and purchase your wedding rings. ***Begin looking at honeymoon options. Discuss where you both would like to go, and if needed visit a travel agent. ***Start looking for a wedding gown, veil, accessories and your attendants attire. Happy Planning! :) ![]() |

Ask a Question
Do I REALLY need a seating chart?
<----This, by the way, took some VERY detailed planning by another bride...and she should take a bow for this! :)
Well, the subject came up in a conversation with my auntie in regard to the seating chart for the wedding. She told me that I should have a seating chart to let people know where they will be sitting. After about 10 minutes of me asking why this was necessary and just getting a "because that's the way things are done" answer from her, I gave up. Ladies...I'm a newbie here...so can someone PLEASE give me a breakdown on the purpose of a seating chart at a wedding reception. What is the REAL DEAL with it? Is it really necessary...or is it one of those aspects of planning that can pretty much be "take it or leave it?" I'd love to get your feedback! :) ![]() |

Our Engagement Pic Signs
I loved this idea I saw on another site and I decided to make my own! When I saw how much these signs actually cost (some as much as $50 EACH), I decided to go to Lowe's, grab a utility knife, some spray paint, three boards and did it myself for under $20 :) They are on display for now on the bookshelf and will probably sit there after the photo session this weekend until the wedding :)
I'm so excited I can't STAND IT!!! :) ![]() |
