My husband and I were supposed to leave from KC airport @ 7am to fly to NIA to MIA get on our cruise ship. We were flying DELTA and we got on our airplane on time...................
the only problem was we sat on the airplane for an hour before theY kicked us off due to maintenance problems. The only problem was, we were going to miss our conncecting flight to MIA. We couldn't get to MIA on time to catch our cruise ship. So, thanks to DELTA, we were going to miss our honeymoon. I was currently in my second month of being prego so I was more than emotional. I had my husband run up and down the KC airport to a different airlineS so they could get us to MIA on time. NO, NO, NO is all we heard. Our honeymoon was all paid for so we were screwed. I started bawling and said we are not going to sit in KC for our honeymoon. Afterall, we were supposed to leave the country! So finally my husband went to the DELTA counter and said we want our money back. We explained our situation and they said they could fly us to Key west, FL our first stop on our cruise. So they paid for our plane tickets, and hotel in Key west while we waited for our cruise ship arrival. We immediatley tried to get on our cruise ship, but they said we had to pay an extra 300.00 for each of us just to get on because of a JONES ACT I had the cruise staff called DELTA. DELTA said they never heard of the JONES ACT. DELTA said they never heard such a act. My husband had to remind him the act was formed in 1017. Because we had already paid over 2,00o for our trip, so we were fighting Carnival. So not only did we have to pay extra money for DELTA'S mistake, we were almost broke the first day of our honeymoon. We were beyond pissed.Thank god our family could wire us extra money or else we would have been stuck in Mexico with no money. So we keep fighting DELTA again and again because we want our money back. We even threatened lawyers. But Delta gave us a $200.00 voucher for a future flight. HELLO, FLIGHTS COST AT LEAST $500.00 A TICKET! SO EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE, BUT FUCK DELTA! we are going to take a second honeymoon in two years. and we are not going on a cruise!

oh no! what a horrible expperience, im so sorry this happened !!!! and f**k delta those bastards!! this is all their fault, jerks! so what is this jones act anyways? were takibg a cruise too so i hope this doesnt happen to us...we plan on arriving day early and staying over night in case something happens with our flight and theirs a delay..bit i assure u after this post i will not go with delta ;) so sorry i hope ur next h-moon works out better :(

OMG, I am so sorry to hear that. I cannot believe Delta did you like that. I prefer Delta over any airlines. They have always been very accommodating. They gave my mom a $400 voucher for giving up her seat one time, and she just caught the next flight out. I definitely urge you to definitely write, email, and talk to as many people as you can at Delta. That is unacceptable!

Wow! That is crazy. I just called Carnival because our cruise is booked with them as well and I purchased travelers insurance. The travel agent explained to me if a flight is delayed making you miss your boat, the traveler's insurance will pay to fly you out to the next port of call for the cruise and pay for your inconvenience. Since I got it through the cruise line, I'm hoping this will avoid any scenarios like what you suffered. That is absolutely horrible! I'm so sorry you had to go through that!!!!

oh my word that is horrible! such a bad start for a honyemoon1 but u are with the ove of ur life so enjoy it and try to forget those a***les but scream at them when u return!

I think its terrible you had to deal with all that when you were supposed to be on your honeymoon, but I do have a different view and I'm sorry if it upsets you, but I would be much happier that Delta fixed the plain and didn't just leave with problems. So many people get upset with the airlines when their are delays but you have to remember that they have numerous passengers on numerous flights and that plain your getting onto could be coming from somewhere with bad weather in the flight plan which causes delay or mechanical problems that do occur just as they occur with any means of transportation. So we have to take those things into consideration when booking flights. Find the CEO's email address and write him a letter. He will make sure it gets to the right person to help you but in the mean time, just try and breath, relax and remember that this is something that in the end you will look back and laugh on so just try and enjoy the ride and life's many little bumps in the road.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience but I don't think it is really all Delta's fault. Having taken a cruise before, I know that the cruise ship always recommends that you get to the city that your cruise is living from at least the day before. I can see that delta has typically 4 different flights a day that would leave KC and get to MIA. Also you are flying into Miami during hurricane season. So if you had listened to the cruise line then you would have had some extra time. I think Delta has gone above and beyond what they have to do. I think they have been extremely accomodating to you. Maybe next time travellers insurance would be a good idea as it would have covered all those costs.

Oh wow! That sounds awful. I would be beyond ticked if that happened to me! Make sure you get compensation when you return! That is ridiculous! Airlines are a trip!
