DIY centerpieces??

Tonight I was going over the vendor bills and final costs of things and I took one look at the cost of the flowers/centerpieces and all of a sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks! I immediately thought to myself, "Are you SERIOUS? Im really going to pay THAT much for JUST the centerpieces?!"

WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?! It's not even about being able to afford them or not because I can, I just couldn't fathom the thought of paying that much for something that isn't even going to last very long!!
I seriously think I was just so caught up in the moment and super excited that I was going to have these beautiful flowers and centerpieces.

After I had my lilttle freak out, I did a alittle research and realized that this may be something that I can possibly do myself. I am not....*let me repeat* I AM NOT a crafty person....AT ALL so the very thought of having to compose 15-17 centerpieces absolutely scares the HELL out of me!!
Every bride wants everything to be perfect on their wedding day and I guess Im just afraid that they may not turn out exactly how I want them to.

I found really great, detailed instructions on how to submerge flowers succesfully underwater for my centerpiece and I think Im going to give it a try!!!

Sooo...this weekend Im going to go get a vase/cylinder, flowers and all other necessary tools and attempt to assemble a centerpiece!!!

The centerpiece I was going to have my florist do is to have one large white Calla lilly and two shorter fuchsia calla lillies submerged upright in a vase with crystals at the bottom and LED lights and candles. The picture is similar to what it would look like.

Wish me luck...Im definately going to need it! hahaha.
Are any of you ladies planning on doing this or something similar as your centerpiece??

You are right! Floral and centerpieces are REDICULOUSLY priced!

I thought about doing my own but figured I didnt want to be boggled down with that task days before or even the day of my wedding.

I think you giving it a try is a wonderful thing and I would definitely say go for it! Even if you dont want to do the entire thing....if you have a coordinator or someone you can just buy all the vases(which would save you tons I would think) and purchase the flowers yourself and just have your coordinator or someone other than yourself....take them to the venue and fill them.

They are beautiful centerpieces by the way! Keep us updated!

That's exactly what my dh said to me lol! and its true its crazy at least for us to each their own but yes go for it I did, I made my own centerpieces  you can check em on my page all the way on the first page  I also did all my GM bouts, Bm pomanders and our moms crosages along with my FG's head pieces. I got these beautiful foam white roses that look so real and saved nuff money I mean they are only flowers and in the end will die and that money is gone. I love making them it was fun some trail and error of course but now with  the net you can find everything even instructions on how to do this kind of stuff I got most of my supplies at Dollar stores it was a great way to save money. Good luck with yours cant wait to see them. :)
