Wedding Reception
My centrepieces

Just took some photos of my centrepieces, these are not the correct colour of the flowers though, they are going to be Blue Dendrobium Orchids, not the plain purple ones. I was going to have white ribbon at the base of the vases but it didn't look right, the dark purple sheer ribbon looks a lot better so you can see the submersible LED through it but it doesn't blind you =P

Also I'm happy because I thought I'd need at least 3 stems for them to look good, but only 2 didn't let the light come through so one stem is best, which cuts my costs for these in half =)

Now I just need to work out how I'm going to put the table names with them, I don't like that it's going to be non-symmetrical haha... I was thinking about placing the cards on top of the vases, but they look kind of elegant and the table names are arcade games (eg Tetris, Frogger, Space Invaders etc) so I'm not sure it'll look right! Any ideas?

ps sorry the pics are sideways, I know that's annoying =[

8 and a half weeks to go!

are you using fresh or artificial flowers?

Fresh ones, I thought about using artificial but around here there is very limited choice, usually the wrong colours and almost just as expensive as real! Dumb Canberra... The floralites look *really* effective, I'd definitely recommend them =)

It looks fantastic! I saw this look at Spring Rolls which is a restaurant and fell in love.  So you submersed the LED light, what brand did you use that they are submersible?

Hi mrscarter21, it's really easy!

I bought 10 vases from a dollar store for $7 each, and 10 submersible floralytes. Then I wrapped translucent ribbon around the bottom of the vase (overlapping, but you could get wider ribbon and just put it around once) securing it with super glue or even double sided tape. Then you just fill the vase with water, pop the light in the bottom and put one stem of orchids in the vase. And there you go!

ryc: just the way life's worked out. my parents split in '05 & i moved into an apt with my dad for a while, then moved to England in '06 to live with my mum, came back to the states in '07 & sublet an apartment from a friend of my mum's (the rent made it impossible to turn it down!), then moved into the current place (the one we're moving out of today) in Jan '08 when the sublet's lease was over.  I've never lived in one house for more than 4 years at a time in my whole life & I've spent the majority of it, bouncing back and forth between the states & england. I get bored, I move somewhere new. Obviously at this point I'm starting to sort of want to settle down, but we'll be moving again in 18 months anyway & I'm sort of glad because I'm getting the itch to get out of this city again.
