Ask a Question
Anyone else in school??
So I'm just wondering how many other brides are in school while wedding planning. I just started nursing school, and I feel like I don't have time for anything, much less wedding planning! Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions a bit quickly since the semester just started, but I feel like it's only going to get more hectic from here on out, and this is just the beginning..yikes. So, my question for those of you that are/were in school while planning is how did you manage your time? I need some serious tips!

Bridesmaids
I found these bridesmaid dresses the other day and absolutely loved them! They go perfectly with my color scheme with the turquoise color and the feeling of damask in the bodice.
In an unrelated question, as I mentioned in another bride's post, my mother is walking me down the aisle because my father passed away about 4 years ago. I'm fine with this, however I have never seen it done before and I have no idea what she should wear. (The only dress she showed me was this long formal gown that looked like a prom dress lol and I know for sure that I don't want two gowns coming down the aisle at once) So can you all give me examples of what she should wear? I don't want another long gown to take away from my moment...even though that sounds kind of selfish. =/ |

Inspiration Board
I know I am doing a LOT of posting today, partially because I feel like I'm really behind in the planning process...at least as far as all these checklists are concerned. This my inspiration board (a lot of the ideas I actually got from this website!)
I want the decor to focus heavily on my three main colors--turquoise, black, and white, with only a few hints of damask and a tiny bit of silver/crystal bling to accentuate everything. My vision is for it tolook glamorous and elegant. |

Wedding Dress
I Love My Dress!
So I got two huge checks off my list recently when I booked a venue and purchased my dress. It was important to me to have the ceremony and reception at the same place if at all possible, so I was happy when we found a fairly inexpensive venue that we could do that at in the Northeast Wedding Chapel. It's been remodeled recently and is really nice, especially for our (college student) budget. I even have a staircase I can come down if I want to go all diva and make a dramatic entrance!! lol.
My dress is the Sottero and Midgley Adorae and was literally the very first dress that I tried on in the store. I fell in love when I first saw it! I tried on other dresses just to be sure I wasn't just in love with the thought of seeing myself in a wedding dress (lol) but no other dress compared. I hope FH loves it and loves me in it as much as I do! I may need to get the hem brought up a tiny bit since I'm so short, but idk. Let me know what you think, does it look way too long? |

The Proposal
How We Got Engaged
Here's my story!
Chris had been trying to organize a "family dinner" so both of our full families could meet and talk for about 2 weeks. It just so happened that my older sister randomly called me and invited me over for family game night at her house,so I suggested to Chris that we just all meet over there and play games and cook dinner so it would be a more fun setting for them all to meet. He said that was fine and called my sister to make sure it was ok. He had also planned a date night for us that night, but since he really wanted the family dinner to happen he just said we would split the date up to where we would do something before and after our families met. I said he was doing too much lol but he insisted so i went along with it. So the set schedule for the day was supposed to be date #1 at 6:30, family meeting at 8:00, then date #2 afterward. He was running late and came over at like 7:45 to go on our date. I was upset and i told him we didn't have time to go out since we were the ones that invited our families together and that it would be rude of us to not be there on time. Then, to make things worse he started running around doing pointless little errands for about an hour (and meanwhile i just kept getting madder and madder lol) and we didn't end up getting to my sister's house until 9:00. When we got there, he stopped me and was like "Babe please don't go in here mad. I want this to be a good night." I was still mad so i was just like whatever just come on you're wasting more time lol. so when i opened the door to my sister's house, both of our whole families were standing in the entry way, the lights were dim, and everyone was looking at me and had cameras held up. I know i was looking crazy because i was mad/confused at the same time. To the left of me there were candles on the floor in the shape of a heart with rose petals filling the center and his brother was playing the piano softly in the background. Then i looked at Chris and he was looking nervous and i was like oh my gosh! He did this little speech and then sang the Jamie Foxx proposal song while his brother was playing the piano. When he got to the part where it says "marry me" he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was bawling. It was so sweet. So later I realized that the whole hour that he was killing time running errands, he was waiting for everyone in our family to get there before us and be there for the special moment. I felt so stupid for even being mad! But I ended up so incredibly happy in the end. |

Engagement
I'm New! Hey everyone =)
Hi! I've been browsing here a couple of months and have gotten some great ideas (thanks!!) so I decided to add my own page. I am very excited to start adding my stuff on here and sharing ideas and getting input from everyone!
I decided to do a little survey to tell a little more about me--- How long did you date before you got engaged? 2 years Was the proposal a complete surprise? Honestly...no lol. He gave me soooo many clues as to what he was planning on doing that I kind of had a feeling it was coming. Did you cry when he proposed? YES! It was so perfect, I couldn't stop. Was the proposal romantic or creative? Explain how if you'd like. It was beyond romantic What day of the year will your wedding be? Friday, June 3, 2011 How many people will be there? About 120-130 Theme? Idk about a theme, but the colors will be turquoise, black and white damask, and hints of silver. How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? 5-- three of them are my sisters, two are my best friends What kind of dress will you have? I fell in love with the very first dress I tried on! Sottero and Midgley Adorae Where will you go for the honeymoon? He wanted to party in Vegas, but I wanted the beach, so we compromised and said Miami so we can get a little of both? Not completely decided yet though lol How old will you and the groom be? I'll be 21 and he'll be 22 Live together before or wait till married? We're going to wait until we are married to live together. Just our personal beliefs =) Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple? I think it will be pretty simple but we will see! Happy planning! |
