new blog
and trash the dress sneak peek
Hello girls!
We did our trash the dress last weekend and it was amazing! We got most of the pictures we wanted that we weren't able to get on the wedding day, plus some. I have one sneak peek photo...which is the one to the left. I know she was planning on working on a bigger sneak peek over this past weekend but with the hurricane, she kept losing power so she has been keeping her computer off. Stupid hurricane. Hopefully she can do it soon because I reallllly want to see them. And, I started a new blog to just blog about regular life. I really liked blogging about my wedding planning and decided it would be something I wouldn't mind continuing. So I started one through wordpress. delightfullyteal.wordpress.com That is the address if you would like to check it out. I would love some people to look at it. I just started it so I don't have very many posts but I plan on trying to post at least once a day or almost every day. Hope everything is going well girls! Thanks! |

trash the dress
scheduled for Sunday!
Hello girls!
We're doing our trash the dress session on Sunday. We are so excited! On our wedding day, we were planning on getting some pictures downtown and we weren't able to. So we are definitely going to get some of those pictures. There is a brick area for some more urban pictures. And a park. And we are also going to get some beach pictures. These are just some of my inspiration pictures that I've saved. I definitely want to have fun with it. I probably won't be getting really dirty or anything. My dress might get a little wet in the water, but that would be it. And we will be laying in the grass. I love the picture with the boat. It is from a photo shoot from style me pretty. I want a boat so badly so we can get some of these. As of right now, we don't have one. Maybe something crazy will happen over the next few days.....we will see. Hopefully they will turn out fabulous, as I'm sure they will. We're using our same photographer, who I love! I'm sure we will have some pictures soon after and I will be sure to post! Thanks girls! |

our honeymoon
Riviera Maya, Mexico
Hey girls!
Here is our honeymoon! I tried uploading a lot more photos but it wasn't working so here are some. And there are more on my facebook page if you want to become my friend on there. Brittany Bard. We went to a resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. The resort was Catalonia Playa Maroma. It was gorgeous. The resort was very open. There were 6 different buildings with guest rooms. We were in the one closest to the ocean. There are 3 restaurants and a buffet. And the beach was amazing, obviously. We went from Saturday to Saturday. We did a lot of relaxing, which was exactly what we needed. We also did 2 excursions and walked around the town one of the days. The first excursion we did on Monday. We went to Tulum, the Mayan ruins right on the ocean. We learned that the real Mayan name is Zama. It was gorgeous. We had a tour guide, Jorge, who gave us so much amazing information. Wednesday we took a cab to Playa del Carmen to walk around and stayed for a couple of hours. It was nice but lots of people from the shops yelling at you from their shops. That makes me want to go in to their shops even less. And we found a Ben&Jerry's, which is our favorite ice cream place. Then we headed back to the resort. The 2nd excursion was on Thursday. We did a snorkeling adventure. We snorkeled in a cenote, an open cenote, and a lagoon. It was fabulous. All of the other days we just hung out at the resort and went to the beach. It was hot but not completely unbearable. And our room was air conditioned so we could go back to cool down when we needed a break. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and lunch every day when we were at the resort. For dinner, we went to each of the restaurants once and the buffet all the other nights. It was amazing just being able to spend all that time together. We had a lot of fun just being together. It was fabulous. And I love that we love each other so much. <3 And I hope we can go on another vacation at some point soonish. Well hope you enjoy girls. Wish the pictures could have uploaded. Thanks! |

our wedding - part four
reception
Hello girls!! I was hoping to update this before we left for the honeymoon but didn't get around to it so here it is.....our reception.
Our reception was a lot of fun. Everything went pretty much as planned. It was somewhat chilly the day of our wedding, especially under the tent since it was shaded, so a lot of the guests were hanging out mostly outside the tent in the sun. This was fine but I think less people danced. We still had a ton of fun dancing though. And I think all the details turned out beautifully. We were introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Brittany and Daniel Bard and went right into our first dance. We danced to All About Us by He is We. I just remember looking at Dan. I know we chatted about things but I don't remember exactly what. And I don't really remember hearing the song a lot. I just remember thinking how happy I was to be in my husband's arms and to finally be at this point. Then I danced with my dad. We don't have a super close relationship so I was nervous but we chatted a little and it was nice. We danced to Have I Told You Lately by Van Morrison. That is the song we danced to at his wedding to my step mom when I was 10. Then Dan danced with his mom. They danced to I Hope You Dance by Leeann Womack. His mom was crying the whole time. After the dances, we had 2 speeches. My wonderful cousin/best friend/MOH Julia gave the first one. It was amazing. She brought up so many memories that not everyone would get, but I did and that is what matters. I love her. Jon, the best man and Dan's brother, gave the 2nd one. His was shorter but it was funny. He is from NY and wanted to remind Dan that he is from NY and should not change his feelings about sports teams...he had everyone laughing. After the speeches, everyone ate. We had delicious bbq food from Famous Daves. It was amazing and everyone raved about how much they loved it and it was the best wedding food they had ever had. When we were finished eating, we went around to the tables to chat with everyone. We made it to all the tables but a lot of people were already outside to warm up so we tried to chat with everyone for at least a little bit. After chatting, we did the cake cutting so we could be done with all the formalities and we could start dancing. We fed each other the cake nice and neatly, no shoving it in faces even though every one was yelling for us too. We started dancing and the ice cream people set up for our sundae bar! We provided all the toppings and Golicks provided the ice cream in their cart. This is my favorite place for ice cream. We've been going there since I was little. Everyone loved it! We had some toys for people to play with. People were playing frisbee, with a beach ball, flying kites, and there was some rope in there and fierce limbo game started. The DJ even started playing the limbo song. Dan and I slipped away for a few to take some pictures under this amazing tree. We couldn't do it before because it was set up for another wedding but that got cleared away so we ran over there. And I'm so glad we did. The pictures are perfect. The rest of the night was dancing and hanging out. People started leaving somewhat earlier than I thought they would. Then there was another wedding getting set up right next to the water. The bride's sister came over bitching about how we needed to shut our music off. I didn't hear here, thank goodness, but my mom told me. We turned the music down a little. Their wedding was supposed to start at 6:30. Our reception was supposed to be over at 7. People were leaving so we ended up just ending early. We didn't have the last song or anything but it was ok. And then people ended up helping us clean up the whole tent and it was all packed away so quickly. It was great. Then we headed to my mom's for the after party. The after party was fun but barely anyone came. It was mostly the wedding party and a couple of other people. We still had fun though. Dan and I headed home around midnight to sleep in our own bed. It was an amazing day and I feel so lucky to have Dan as my husband. At the end of the day, I couldn't believe it was over. But I was happy that the day had gone so well. And I wished I could do it all over again. And I keep telling Dan we might need to plan a 5 year vow renewal so I can get my fix again.....haha. So we'll see how that goes girls. Thanks for reading all about my day girls! I hope you enjoyed it. |

Honeymoon
we're leaving tomorrow!
Hello girls!
I meant to post about the reception today, our 4th part of our wedding, but I got too busy packing and cleaning because we're leaving for our honeymoon tomorrow! It has been almost 2 months since the wedding (we'll celebrate while we're gone. hehe) and we're finally going on our honeymoon! We wanted to wait until I was all finished grad school so we could just go and be stress free. We're headed to the Catalonia Playa Maroma in Riveria Maya, Mexico. We are so excited to just relax, hang out, cuddle, drink, eat, swim, and other things you might do on a honeymoon....... We're going for a full week and will be returning next Saturday. I will definitely post about our reception really soon after we return. And I will post about the honeymoon. Hope you girls have a fantastic week! And good luck to the brides getting married this weekend!! |

our wedding - part three
ceremony
Hello girls.
So here is the ceremony. People started showing up at the tent so I wanted to go wait for the ceremony so everyone wouldn't see me before everything started. I totally forgot about the bouts and corsages because things were running a little late and they were at the ceremony site already so I didn't see them. They got handed out at the last minute by our officiant. I had boxes with tags on each one but it wasn't a special moment handing them out. When my dad came over to wait with us, he had the corsages for girls just in his hand. Oh well. Just one of those little things. They got handed out and put on, and that is all that matters. When we got the ok to start, the girls started walking across the beach. My mom, my dad and I followed. It was a little bit of a walk but it worked out well. The girls and I all kicked off our sandals when we got to the sand so we would be barefoot for the ceremony. I saw Dan at the end of the aisle and it made me even more excited. I couldn't wait to be his wife. And his face showed me that he was just as excited. Our ceremony was short and sweet. We put it together ourselves so it really meant something to us. And we read our vows off of cards instead of repeating them. And my grandmother did a reading which was so special. She means so much to me and it meant a lot to me to have her up there with us. Dan whispered to me about putting the ring on the left hand which made me and my MOH laugh. haha. It was amazing. The words were amazing. The weather was amazing. The scenery was amazing. Having all of our favorite people around was amazing. I was so excited at the end of the ceremony when we kissed and were announced as husband and wife. It was an amazing feeling that we were finally married, after so long, it had finally happened. I kind of couldn't believe it was already over. But I felt anxious leading up to the ceremony and was kind of relieved that it was over and we could just eat and party and have fun. That will be my next post....the details and the reception! Thanks girls! |

our wedding - part two
getting ready/photos
Hello girls!
First of all - I am completely done Grad school!!!! I have my masters!!! Yay!!!! I can't believe it is over. It was a long 2 years. Next, here is the second part of our wedding - my getting ready photos, our first look photos, and our formal photos. I know it has taken me forever to post but I have been so busy. Now I have lots more time. So I woke up at about 5:30 on the day of the wedding. And I was ready to go. I couldn't believe the day was here. And I was ready to marry Dan. My hair appt was at 9. So we were basically waiting around until then. I had breakfast and showered and got ready to go. Chrystal, my bm, and my mom came to my hair and make up appts with me. It was relaxing and the lady who did my hair is so nice. I had my make up done right after my hair. Suzanne, my photog, met us at the hair salon and took lots of pictures of me and my mom getting our hair done and my make up done. (I love our photographer. She is amazing). When we got back to the house, we were waiting for Julia, my moh, to get there. She had gotten her hair and make up done somewhere else. I wanted to wait for her to get dressed. My grandparents showed up with my bouquet. A lady made it that lives down the street from them. I had a lace piece from my grandmother's wedding dress and a lace piece from my mom's wedding dress wrapped around the bouquet. I felt kind of rushed, which I didn't like. I wish I had had more time to get dressed and take it in. And I got no pictures of just me or of the girls getting dressed. I wanted pictures of the girls' dresses on the hangers I had painted for them but didn't get it. Oh well. They helped me get dressed and get my shoes on and my jewelry on. It was 3 of my favorite women helping me and I loved it. I loved being able to share that special time with my mom, and 2 of my best friends. When I was all dressed, Suzanne took me to go meet Dan. We were supposed to do our first look downtown Portsmouth and do some other photos but there was a festival going on and it was crazy busy so that didn't work, which kind of stressed me out because I wasn't sure what to do. We decided to just meet at the park where we were getting married. Which worked out really well and we got some great pictures. We did our first look out on a pier and there was no one out there, which was fantastic. Then we took some pictures in some other areas before we met up with the wedding party. We got some great pictures with the wedding party. There were some other ones we wanted but ended up not having time, which was kind of disappointing. But I'm glad we got some good ones. And then we did family pictures which we got all of the families...all 3 sets. haha. While we were finishing up family pictures, people started showing up and I didn't want to be hanging around so I headed over to the ceremony area to get in place. I was excited and anxious to get the ceremony started. After all the time we were engaged, it was finally here. more to come ladies...next up - ceremony. |

our wedding - part one
nails/rehearsal
Hello girls!
(I tried to do this last night and it froze up and I lost the whole thing...so lets try this again) We have been married for almost a month and 1/2 and I can't believe it has already been that long! I have wanted to post about our big day but I was being lazy and now I'm sure busy finishing up grad school (only 4 days left!) so here we go. The Friday morning before the wedding, I went to get a mani/pedi with some of my favorite girls. It was me, my Mom, my BM Chrystal, my bro's gf Sam, and my step-bro's gf Alimah. It was super fun and nice to just relax with the girls for a little while. Friday night we had a rehearsal at the park. It was a gorgeous night. And we had all our favorite people there - the wedding party, parents, and grandparents. We figured out where we were going to stand and practiced walking to the spot. I had my ribbon bouquet that the girls made me from the shower. On the way off the beach to go to dinner, there was another couple having a rehearsal for their wedding which was at the same time as ours the next day. Luckily, not in the same spot on the beach. After the rehearsal, we went to my mom's for dinner. We wanted to keep it simple and just have hot dogs and hamburgers. It was nice to just relax and hang out with the people we love. We didn't have formal tables for people to sit and eat so I felt like people were kind of separated. I was kind of bummed about that. I think everyone enjoyed themselves though so it was good. We ended up hanging out around their fire pit and having some smores. People slowly left. Dan left to go stay at the apartment so we said good bye. And I was sleeping at my mom's with Chrystal. So we went to bed kind of early because I wanted to make sure I got some sleep. And even though I was super excited, I did get some sleep. I woke up the next morning ready to go marry Dan. I couldn't believe that it was the wedding day. After 2 years of waiting, it was finally here. That is all I have time for now but hopefully I can post again really soon. Thanks girls! |
