Since I was 5, I've spent every summer of my life in the Adirondacks and a good portion of those years, in Lake George Village. One of the most wonderful and fun places to hang is Christie's On The Lake (www.christiesonthelake.com).
Every Wednesday night through the greater part of the early 2000's a band named Sirsy played there. Mel and Rich have this very awesome and unique sound that I've not heard in many live bands. How many people do you know that sing, play drums and play flute at the same time - Mel does! And Rich can play any and every stringed instrument that exists.
I fell in love with their music in 2003 and I have loved them since. While perusing their website (www.sirsy.com) in 2009, I found out that they did weddings. I had just started dating Shawn and we weren't anywhere near having the marriage discusisons, let along getting engaged; but, I'm a planner, so I reached out to Mel and Rich. They gladly told me they'd love to play my wedding when the time came.
So fast forward to now and what has happened? Well congratulations to Mel and Rich who got signed by a record label!! This is fantastic for them and is every musician's dream. However, I will not know until November/December if they will be able to play my wedding.
They might be on tour, or their label might have upped their price so high that we can't afford them. I hope that isn't the case and I have a backup plan in mind but lets all hope that Shawn and I get our Plan A!
