Hey WBC Ladies,

Thought I would get your views on this:

Rookie Wives Club Chat: So this point came to me, and I thought doesn't every woman strive to be a good wife? Is it really the same for every woman?

There's a magazine article from the 50's which chronicles all the supposed elements to being a good wife such as: Have dinner ready for your husband, Touch up your make-up just before he arrives home etc..

However things are very different from the 50's as we all know, and so I started thinking what I think makes a good wife isn't necessarily the same as you or your hubby. Is it not down to the individual couples to work out their roles in the marriage, and therefore what is acceptable? With women having a lot more share and say in their lives these decades on, can you really limit what makes a good wife? I'm thinking shouldn't a good wife be someone who is in-tune with her husband and compliments him as he should compliment her, for example, whether that be both sharing a love for not cooking or enjoy cooking together.

As a new wife I'm finding my feet with my Hubby, and would like to think we're creating our own definitions for each of what is a good wife / husband. What do you think?

Following my previous post, I've been busy starting a new project! Yes something else for you to follow!! :-)

So now the wedding is over and I'm getting use to life as a new wife, I've been thinking about how much fun I've had blogging and commenting on WBC throughout my planning and, then I thought about what I could next...

I got thinking and researching and found their wasn't really anywhere for new wives / brides (that I know of!) to share and comment with each other on different experiences / topics. So then I thought it might be fun to create a blog just for that purpose, so I wanted to get your thoughts. What do you think? Would it be something you would use? What kind of things / topics would you like to see on it?

I like the idea of sharing ideas / experiences with other new (and experienced) wives, and just wondered if it really would be a good idea? Or do you think it would be a waste of time? Would you use it?

Would really like to hear from you Ladies, please tell me your thoughts?

Hey Ladies,

It feels like so long since I’ve been on here, but since we got married it has been non-stop and I really wanted to give you a proper summary of our amazing day. Our wedding really was beautiful, prior to it we had been getting rain every Saturday for weeks! But on our day the weather was perfect, it was sunny and warm, and just glorious for all our outdoor pics. So here are some of our pro-pics, overall I am happy with them, though I felt that with more time our photographer could have got more variety in the shots and more of our families and friends included, and also some of my dessert buffet which she got none of! :-(

On our actual wedding day, I woke up, and just was so calm and so looking forward to the day. I wanted to treasure and enjoy every moment, as I’ve heard others say, it goes so fast. Everyone kept telling me how calm I was being, and I just kept thinking there’s nothing to be nervous about, I want to do this more than anything, why should I be nervous?! Anyway, we got off to a good start time wise, but then my hairdresser ran over time a bit, and then my make-up lady took agesssss... to do my make-up, so when we should have been leaving for the church I wasn’t even dressed yet!!! I ended up being 35 minutes late, which I don’t think is terrible, though I’m sure Hubby would dis-agree – lol. He surprised me with a Rolls Royce to go to the church in, it was a beautiful car!! I felt like a superstar – lol.

The church ceremony was exactly how we wanted, just very simple and not too long, we had a saxophonist to play the bridal party and myself in, and he was meant to play us out of the church also, but because I was so late he couldn’t stay, which was a little disappointing, but thank God for our pianist! I heard the saxophonist played beautifully while the guests waited though, and I loved walking down the aisle to him playing.

So photos were the next call of the day, and the ones at the church were very rushed because there was another wedding there after ours, which I wasn’t too happy about, but there was nothing I could do about that. The pictures that we took at the park were a lot of fun with Hubby, the Bridal Party, Family and Friends.

Our dinner reception went so smoothly, I was really worried that because we had a buffet meal guests would be queuing for a long time, but that wasn’t the case, our catering team were so efficient, I received nothing but praise for them. I also surprised Hubby, and wrote, sang and recorded a song which I played after my speech, he was sooo surprised, and couldn’t believe I managed to find the time to do it! After our meal and speeches we were meant to have a wedding quiz with all tables competing against each other, but my Co-ordinator advised us to leave this out and go straight to the crazy cocktail hour, which was the best decision of the day. It put us back on track time wise and we were able to greet our evening guests as they arrived. We then did our first dance which was hilarious!! We danced to a mix of songs: At Last(Etta James)/You Rock My World(Michael Jackson)/Notorious BIG(Hypnotize), followed by my Mum and myself dancing, and then the Bridal Party doing the Macarena - ? My shoes gave up after this! Lol

The rest of the night we spent enjoying with family and friends and enjoying ourselves, that part of the evening seemed to go really quickly, but I still loved every moment! Everyone got to enjoy the evening and dessert buffet, and yes I did manage to bake a good portion of the cakes myself!!

So what would my advice be after my special day: Firstly and most importantly, enjoy yourselves, you’ve worked so hard to get to this day, really just enjoy all your hard work and the bubble that you and Hubby are in. Also, don’t get caught up if it doesn’t all go to plan, though my day mainly went to plan there were a few elements I would have like improved, like my cake didn’t turn out how I expected it to, but hey it didn’t stop my wedding! And I wasn’t completely 100% happy with my make-up, but it could have been a lot worse! I also had a hiccup with my dress, as the underskirt was too big, but that didn’t stop me from dancing!

Secondly, if you can have a Co-ordinator for the day definitely go for it, I asked a very good friend to be mine and she was brilliant. She made sure that things were taken care of from start to finish, and was definitely my person in charge when I couldn’t be there. She really was a huge help on the day.

Thirdly, if you don’t write your speech at least make some notes, because when it’s your time to speak every thought you ever had will completely leave you, and you will feel gutted if you missed someone out that you really wanted to thank.

And lastly, everyone says I am super organised, but trust me you can never be organised enough for the day. We had been planning for 18 months, and had been doing so much so we wouldn’t have to rush nearer the time, but I still found we had endless jobs right up to last minute. So it’s never too early to start on projects!
Following that, we went on honeymoon to Thailand which was breath-takingly amazing!!! I won’t bore you with all the details of that now – lol. We’re now trying to set-up home together, and I love it! We’ve been together 8 years, but it really feels like we’re starting life together. We’re living and learning together and that’s a beautiful thing!

Hi WBC Ladies,

Firstly let me apologise for taking ages to get on here. The lead up to the wedding was so hectic, and I had no time at all to get near a computer. After the wedding was also just as hectic, as we had just a few days before going on honeymoon. Then I haven't been able to upload any pictures on to WBC for days :-(, which they have finally just fixed today, sooo...hence why I'm just touching base with you. I missed you guys!!

So yes ladies I'm a happily married lady :-) We had an amazing day, and I can't wait to tell you all about it, which I will when I have a bit more time, and I will also add some pro pics once we get them.

It truly was a wonderful day, we just enjoyed every moment. We then went to Thailand for our honeymoon, which is breathtakingly beautiful, and gave us a chance to chill and enjoy the beginnings of married life after being constantly busy!

I really have had the greatest time in the last few weeks. Hubby and myself have been very blessed and feel very blessed to have each other. I can't believe I'm married to my Honey!! :-)

I can't wait to tell you more details about my day. More details to follow..

Hey Ladies,

Feels like ages since I've been here. First of all thank you so much for your sympathies and condolences. It really has been a tough couple of weeks, but with God's strength I'm getting through it. With only 9 DAYS to the wedding, I have to pick myself up, and get things done.

Despite all the sadness and hurt the last few weeks have brought, I am really looking forward to our wedding day more than ever now. So I have started my speech, which feels very scary!! But I'm just going to try to be say things in my own words, in my own way. Wish me luck!!

Hope your planning is going well, I have missed catching up all the things you have all been doing.

So back to the speech I go...(and all the other things on my list!)

Hi WBC Ladies,

I wasn't sure whether I should write anything on here, but I felt that after posting at the end of last week about the exciting month and weekend ahead I should let you know.

I got the biggest shock on Friday, when I found out that my father had suddenly died on Thursday. Now can I just say that my father wasn't in my life (his choice), but I am absolutely crushed to know that we will never have to opportunity to put things right. I honestly am speakless and don't know what to say or do.

Then I went for my dress fitting, and the dress was 2 sizes too big!!! A mistake made by the designer according to the bridal shop. With just weeks to go they haven't got time to order a new one and are now trying to alter this one, but who knows how it will look when they've finished altering it?! It was just an absolute nightmare.

Nevertheless after lots of umming and ahhing and debating whether to cancel my bachlorette night, I did go, and the girls were absolutely amazing to me and really cheered me up for a few hours. They're such great friends!

Ladies, with just 25 days to go I am finding this so tough, but I know that I will get through this! I just wanted to let you know why I might not be around too much in the next couple of weeks.

So today marks 1 month until our wedding!

I can believe it!!! We've been planning for 18 months, and I can't be believe that this time next month we'll be married :-)

Time has truly gone fast, and I'm sure the next 4 weeks will also.
Everything seems to be coming together, and I'm praying it stays that way!

This weekend is my bachlorette weekend which I'm looking forward to. Hope you have a great weekend too Ladies :-)

Hi Ladies,

I had my bridal shower this weekend (Mad Hatter Tea Party Theme). All the ladies came in their finest hats and outfits, and everyone really made an effort and looked lovely.

A feast of nibbles for afternoon tea were laid on by my family and friends and there were lots of cakes!!!! Which were fab :-)

We played lots of different games and generally had a great afternoon mingling. Everyone had to say how they knew me, and whether they had any embrassing stories about me to share, and I was really dreading the possible stories - lol. But I was really touched by what my loved ones said about me, it almost brought me to tears (imagine what I'll be like on the wedding day -lol).

My Mum and MOH worked very hard to make it a special afternoon, and it really was and I really appreciate it and everyone being there, so now next event.... the bachlorette weekend!!
