So I just got a text message from an old school friend who is a DJ at a local club here in my hometown. I had asked him about DJ'ing my wedding a couple months ago but never heard back from him. So I get a text message today that said
"Ill do you a favor, I have known you for a while and I want the experience so Ill just do it for you no charge. I want you to have a fun wedding the way you want it."
I don't even know what to say to that, as most of you know I rented the DJ in a box thing and already put my deposit down on that. I mean he has all his own equipment and everything. The ONLY thing that makes me hesitate is that, I wonder if he would get dressed up...and this would be the first wedding that he has done!! AHHHHHHH...really, I wouldn't mind having a DJ at my wedding, and my mom said all i need to do is tell him exactly what he needs to do. I don't want anyone to have to babysit him through the whole night...
Girls please help! Give me some input!
so much for proofreading before hitting send !
xoxo
kkrbride!
I know you think I was being negative about your DJ in a box, and those weren't my intentions at all. Girls post on this website to get advice that they can use and that is what I was trying to give, because I have info about professional advice in this area. So I'm just trying to help out. I'd much rather provide "thinking points" before your wedding than see a post after your wedding that says that your guests couldn't hear anything during the reception or the sound box blew a fuze.
If you want to send me an e-mail I'd be happy to send you a few lists that my FH uses for his wedding couples. They include an event timeline, a guide on how to introduce your wedding party, a list of frequently played songs (for the Southern Illinois area), etc. You can edit these as you wish and give them to your DJ to use since he probably doesn't have his own.
On another note, to ease your concerns, I'd keep the DJ box handy and if he doesnt' show you have a back-up!
