Wedding Photography
First Look/
For any brides that were debating whether they should do the first look/reveal..... I can now speak from experience and say DO IT! Of course every bride is different so I can only comment on how it made me/us feel.... and it was incredible. Having those few moments to just take it all in and be with each other just the two of us was so amazing. It was so intimate to have that moment together and our photographer just blogged a sneak peek photo and I'm not sure if you can tell or not but Neil's emotion was captured perfectly.... he is full of tears!
Wedding sneak peek link We also had our amazing cinematographer StillMotion there to capture the moment for us and as soon as they publicly post our SDE (Same Day Edit) or we get a copy of it, I'll have to post the link for you all to see. They absolutely blew us away with their work. Nidhal - I tagged you because I remember you had a post debating this as well! I wanted you to see this photo and to tell you about it from experience now :) Happy Planning! |

MY official wedding shoes!
Hey ladies,
SOOOOOOOOO my wedding day has come and gone (sadly!) I am currently on my honeymoon but our photographer posted pics that she took of my incredible shoes that she painted for me! black and white with purple and purple swarovski crystals!! absolutely DEVINE! She put so many amazing details to incorporate who we are and what our wedding was all about - pumpkin coach and cinderella's castle for our subtle cinderella details...our wedding date, our dating anniversary date, HSS = high school sweethearts, 831 was a saying we always said to each other (8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning I LOVE YOU), etc. I honestly am going to buy a glass case to display these in our home! So if you want more info here it is! Figgie Shoes Facebook Page Figgie Shoes - the website is new and is currently under construction. She also can personalize these to be any colour (doesn't have to be white), any heel size (can even be a pair of flats!) and they don't even need to be wedding shoes! She can make them personal to you and anything you want on them! |

WEDDING SHOES!!!!
Hand painted shoes!
I am going to do a bit of bragging about my photographer-turned-amazing-friend Deborah Thomson of Figgie Photography!
Well, I randomly (through fate I believe) found her on Facebook of all things from those ads that pop up on the side according to your demographic. I contacted her since she was the very first photographer where we loved her portfolio of every wedding from start to finish. When she agreed to travel for our wedding I was ECSTATIC! Not only is she a superbly-amazingly-phenomenally talented photographer, she also airbrushed the closing ceremonies floats (remember the mounties, beavers, hockey players, and moose?!?!) and is also an illustrator and artist. Soooooooooo... what an INGENIUS idea to hand paint wedding shoes! What an AMAZING memorable keepsake and even better photos. This is the first I've seen of this!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to get a pair just like this! Although, she told me she started buying accessories for the shoes she is painting for me and may include some purple swarovski crystals! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! (that would be a very excited squeal!!! lol) If you also love, love, LOVE this idea feel free to contact her and tell her you heard of her through me! She said she would be willing to ship them anywhere! deborah@figgiephotography.com SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wedding Music And Songs
First Dance Song? FINALLY!
So as some of you may know we have been struggling with finding our first dance song! We have literally spent the last year and a half listening to hundreds and hundreds of songs with no success. None of the songs ever gave us the butterflies/tears/goosebumps we wanted....none of them had the right feel. I feel like we explored every genre of music possible! Some songs that we loved had been used by friends so we didn't want to use the same one (like Brad Paisley's Then) and just recently we came across one that we loved:
Lady Antebellum's "When You Got a Good Thing" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XD2PlehGvE BUT then last night I found another song that brought INSTANT tears to my eyes as FH and I were sitting on the couch listening to the song together: Ryan Huston's "Love You Forever" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVVn-wXl8I4 Lyrics here: http://www.metrolyrics.com/love-you-forever-lyrics-ryan-huston.html I think mostly because it reminds me of one of my favourite childhood books that also brings tears to my eyes - Love You Forever by Robert Munsch So ladies....please comment and help me choose/let me know your thoughts! :) |

Wedding Decoration
Centrepieces
I met with our florist over Easter weekend when I went back home to visit. We tried to brainstorm low budget ideas for our centrepieces and voila! I was never a big fan of hydrangeas at all but now I love them! We are going to have purple runners on the tables so I knew I wanted white flowers of some sort for contrast and she suggested hydrangeas as they would cost about $7/stem and we'd only need one stem. The vases and sticks were given to us for free by my Mom's friends so we're super lucky to be saving money on our centrepieces! I love them and think that they were just what we were looking for. What do you ladies think?

DIY Wedding
More things done!
I've been so MIA lately! Although I've definitely still been checking out everyone else's blogs. Everyone has such phenomenal ideas off of here! So all of my DIY may have been inspired by specific ladies but I'm sorry I can't give credit where it's due because I just simply don't remember who I may have seen the inspiration from! However, the shoe idea was fully mine I'm proud to say! lol....
So here it goes! Purple flat shoes: These will be my wedding shoes! I am terrible in heels and FH is convinced him and I are the perfect height for each other lol. I rarely wear heels so he feels strange when I do since I'm only an inch and a bit shorter as opposed to being 4 inches shorter and since I rarely wear heels I would be a mess on the wedding day and likely fall! These shoes were also a surprise from FH when I got home from work one day. What a sweetie.... I decided they needed a bit of sprucing up though so I went to Michael's and bought a flower bunch for $3.99 and split them up to embellish both mine and my bridesmaids flip flops (more to come on the flip flops). I threaded a locket onto the wire of the flower (locket pendant was $5.99 but I used a 40% off coupon!) and I think I am going to put a picture of both of my Grandpas in one locket and a picture of both of FH's grandpa's in the other. Black Flip Flops: These will be part of my BM's gift basket I'm putting together. I bought them plain at Michael's for only $3! Then I used various ribbon and added a flower to the top (leftover from the stem of flowers I got for my shoes) and used a silver paint pen from Dollarama to write their initials on them! Flower Girl Basket: I found this for a steal of only $2 when we went shopping one day! I thought it needed sprucing up too so I added the flower ribbon to the top and bottom along with a rhinestone buckle. You could see the back of the buckle so I glued an extra flower in the middle with a leftover pearl from my cardbox before Wilton Cake Serving Set: We got this from Michael's with our 40% coupon (thank goodness for those!!) FH didn't want to buy it until he realized that a) we had the coupon and b) that we could actually use it in the future since I bake quite a bit lol... I used thick ribbon I got from Michael's with a rhinestone buckle and hot glued the ribbon in place with the buckle and then used a Glue Dot strip to attach it to the knife/spatula (? Is it called a spatula?! lol) so that I could remove it later for future use. PHEWF! It was such a productive night! I can't believe we're under the 100 days to wedding mark! EEEK! :)))) Also - I ordered a parasol for around $12 with shipping and will attempt to write "Just Married" on it! I'll let you know how it goes! |

Wedding Reception
Opinions Please!!!
So I was just enlightened by a friend about an idea about inviting guests. Apparently you can invite people to the ceremony and dancing (reception) but not the dinner. That way the people you may be iffy about inviting still get the chance to celebrate with you but you don't have to pay for their dinner which is the most expensive part of the budget - as terrible as that sounds but we all know how much a wedding costs!!!
I feel like this solves so many problems!! We'll still be able to invite people to celebrate in our day without breaking the bank and going into terrible debt....I felt like the biggest stress of the wedding was solved!! lol So what do you ladies think of this idea? I wanted to get your opinions! Do you think it's cheesy or inconsiderate? If we were to send out invites to some people who are more acquaintances that said something along the lines of "Ceremony at 5:00pm Join us and celebrate with some fun and Dancing at 8:30pm" ? Other brides that have done this... how have you worded your invites and did you need an RSVP? |
