Bridal Show
OMG I JUST WON SOMETHING!!

Yesterday my bridesmaid and I went to the 'great bridal expo' in Boston. It was nuts! Nothing like I had expected. It was so crowded I felt claustrophobic and I didn't find it helpful in the least. My bridesmaid was slightly depressed by the whole thing and I could tell she was getting restless. So after an hour and half of entering my name into as many prizes possible we left the madness.

Today I get a call from Northeast Brides and I am seriously in SHOCK. Cannot belive this just happened! When I answer the phone she tells me "I have some good news for you" I'm thinking "oh, some nifty free jewlery!" and she says "you've won a 3 day/2 night all inclusive (may be making that up haha) vacation to 25 different locations including Peurto Rico, Las Vegas, New Orleans and others." OMG I SERIOUSLY DIED! I was jumping up and down in the middle of the library <--no joke. She asked if we had booked our honeymoon yet and I said no, but we aren't going to use this in 2 years. I want to use it now! I couldn't believe this was happening. And she also threw in $1,000 of coupons for everyday products which is AWESOME and I will most certainly be sharing those with G for all her support. I feel bad that I am not sharing the vacation with her, as she did come with me and all, but I do want to go on vacation with my baby so badly <3

I can no longer complain about a) not winning anything and b) not going on enough vacations (at least for now lol).

We have a 90 minute consulting session on Saturday to discuss the package and I'm thinking they are going to try to sell us stuff byt he way she was talking about it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Again, SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED!

I've experienced something like this before. It was for a company that sold pots and pans. We had to go to one of their presentations in order to claim the prize. We ended buying a set of pots and pans which I wish we hadn't.  We could've used the money for something else. They did give us a 3 day/2 night stay at an all inclusive hotel but it didn't include airfare.  I learned my lesson. Just be careful to not buy on impulse. Make sure you can still collect your prize even if you don't buy the package.

be really, really, really careful when you go to this meeting. i don't want to rain on your parade, but it definitely sounds like they are using this as an opportunity to sell you stuff. do not give them your credit card number or any cash...in fact, leave your credit card at home. if it is just a contest that you won the congratulations and if not, be careful and keep us posted on what happens!

Awww. So happy you are excited and they will give you the free nights. i just have to tell you that everyone wins :( It's a timeshare selling session. You will indeed get the vacation (they will also offer you gift cards, etc in place of the vacay if you choose that) but they are going to try and sell you a vacation timeshare. You don't have to buy it to get the vacation!!!!! The other thing is that you usually have to stay at least 5-7 night to get the 3 nights so you will have to pay for some of the trip.

sweet latina, i had the same experience! although we didnt buy anything, we did win the stay (WITHOUT AIRFARE), we are using it as part of our honeymoon but the airfare is what gets you. Make sure you do research as well. Many of those companies book you in hotels that are 1 or 2 stars. just make sure not to buy out of impulse or pressure.

yeah after i went to a bridal show in raleigh i got that same call & they said i also one some toasting goblets. but i would have to go to a seminar to claim the prize in which they would try to sell me pots & pans & tupperware.  i didn't bother with it because i know i have a hard time saying no & didn't want to end up with anything we didn't need or couldn't afford. hopefully it is a great win & they aren't trying to sell you anything! but use caution & if your gut tells you something isn't right, follow that feeling.

this happened to me when they came to mississippi. i registered for the bridal show but never went and they still called me and told me that i won. In order to pick up the prize i would have to sit through another bridal show then buy close to $3,000 in swarvoski crystal glassware..so just be careful and don't get too excited just to be let down.

Girl, yes! I went to the Bridal show last weekend & i won 2 trips. 3day/2night and i was told i had to go to the "meeting" to get the gift. The lady said that they were going to cook for us, let us taste everything (sounds good, right?) well i talked to my sister about it, b/c i was a little scared about it, i mean they make it seem great. But, my sister did this same thing, like sweetlatina, My sis bought a 500$ knife said. lol.. i was like why didn't you just say no!!

Just be careful when you do go!! Me and FH didn't go b/c we had to go on the trips in 1yr and 1/2 & we haven't even set a date yet. I def will go next year though!

Congrats!! :) :) :)

thanks ladies for all of your feedback! i ended up researching the company RP Northeast: http://www.rpbridalconcepts.com/aboutus.html
and it is in fact what you are all talking about :( We are up in the air about going right now. I kind of want to out of curiousity but my fiance hates salesmen and I've read on other blogs that the presentation can take up to 3 hours!

We'll see and I'll keep you posted.
