I have no problem with relaxed hair. **MY** hair is relaxed. My 13 yr old DAUGHTER'S hair is natural. Although we are mother and daughter, we have 2 very different hair textures. LOL. We are trying to get it in it's best curl and best condition before we start trials for styles for her hair for the wedding.


Yaayy. I hope this post gets LOTS and LOTS of hits and conversation. Looking forward to it.

Motion shampoo and conditioner. Now here's the trick. I grease my scalp with the blue bonnet grease the I use a creamic blow dryer with a comb on it and here's the trick a CHI flat iron.. Neva ever do I wash and blow dry my hair with out it.

I've been natural for 9 years now. And I usually wear micros or a sew in. But other than that that's how I maintain my hair, so it looks like it's permed. That's if it's not hot and humid or raining.

Imma natural curly sista 2 type 3C hair...and im still deciding on how to wear my hair.

I Try 2 only use organic and natural products in my hair.

I do not shampoo my hair, because shampoos strip ur hair, and damage curlies. I do the Conditioning cleanse, so basically I put only conditioner in my hair when it is time to wash. Plu I also do not put grease or heavy oils in my hair to keep the follicles unblocked.

Otherwise i just saturate or soak my hair in Olive or Coconut Oil and massage, and rinse. I try2 keep things simple, and trouble free for my 3C hair.

I sleep in a satin bonnet 2, eliminates frizz and keeps curls.
The best leave in that I love love is
Nature's Baby Organics Leave in Conditoner in Vanilla Tangerine ...
this is usually 4 kids, but good on adults 2

Comb hair in shower, or while there is still conditioner in it.
There are helpful sites, ad books on the "No shampoo/ no poo" method I described. Just keep things simple, andbe gentle 2 curls. The 1 thing that the african american community doesnt think about is how harsh we are 2 our hair, and how rough we treat with with hard combing, and using tiny combs 2 pull a whole bunch of hair thru, sumtimes we do more damage then help

And even tho I buy some products, I usually make my own hair creams, and serums 4 my delicate curls, if u want some samples I can send u some.

Use a paddle brush while hair is still wet to maximize and clump curls, do this gently. U can finger comb and use a diffuser, or let air dry.

I too am a naturally curly girly. Quick question though....Spank....what is 3C???   I swear by Sebastian Laminates Shampoo and Conditioner.  I give myself a protein treatment about once a month....I love this product called HAIR it's by Nutress but I'm finding it hard to find now.  For styling wheter I'm wearing it curly or straight the ONLY product I use is CHI Silk Infusion...I have a LOT of hair but I only use a little more than a quarter size in my hair.  When I wear it curly it helps to keep my hair from being frizzy and gives it some added sheen.  When I wear my hair flat ironed it's a heat protectant and gives my hair sheen without weighing it down or making my hair oily.

ginosgirl...good info for when I want to straighten it.  I actually used to use Motions on my relaxed hair and I did really like it.  

spank...you know i actually started using baby products on my face!! i wanted something super gentle bc i don't have "bad" skin per se', but i'm over 30 now and can start to see little lines.  the cleansers weren't too bad but the moisturizers were sooo expensive!!  so i've been using baby wipes (to remove makeup)and baby wash on my face w baby lotion to moisturize and it is really working.

There are different typesof cury hair 3A, 3B, 3C, 4A, 4B, 4C
3A & 3B are like wavy to some curls

3C is like cork crew curls or pencil with. This type of hair is the border between wavy and kinky hair. 3C is said 2 be the curliest type of hair, because it can have many textures like 4 and type 3A

4A-C is kinkier and coarser hair

Yea I dont know what kind of curls I have. But I dont like the kinky look. I tried that kinky curly cream and I just didnt like it when it dries up

Ok now spankalious let us see your hair so that I will know what curl I have and what should I try to do to keep it moist and not dried and short

EEEK!!!  so happy to get so many responses.  i'm taking notes on all of this.  i'm gonna try a few of these products on my daughter's hair.  of course we will have to use them separately to be sure not to bombard her hair with all these products and to really see which ones work best for her.  good thing it's spring break!  lol.  

i do need to see what kind of curl she has.  i have heard of ppl talking about what curl they have but had no idea where they were getting that info from.  good website recommendation.

I am a relaxed gal but I don't put heat on my hair between relaxers and I relax every 4 months.  I use African Royale Moisturizer leave in conditioner.  I sleep on a stain pillow case as well and get regular trims.  
Not sure how I'm wearing it on the big day going back and forth between wearing it up or down with curls.

justmeandhim...i'm having her to sleep on a satin pillow case with a satin bonnet.  i've heard that's a good thing to do when moisture is a problem, and my daughter's hair DRINKS moisture.
