Ask a Question
Older Maid of Honor
I have a unique dilemma and need some advice ladies. My maid of honor is a 65 year old lady. She's my husbands aunt and the one person I respect more than anyone else on this earth. She was maid of honor at our original wedding and will be there for this one too. My problem is....what do I get her to wear? Should I go with more of a mother of the bride style dress or just what the other ladies are wearing? The others range from 25 to 45 years old. I want her to feel comfortable and pretty that day too. The other girls will be wearing yellow tealength dresses. I was thinking of having her in navy blue but I'm not sure that would look right at our very casual farm renewal.
Please give me your imput on this. I'm soo confused! |

More Hangers
These ones are made with stickers.
1) Buy a pack of wooden hangers. They're usually fairly affordable and can be bought at stores like Target, WalMart and department stores. You can get them in a few different shades of brown. 2) Decide if you want to put your bridesmaid's name, initials or other word on the hanger. You also can put just a design or a sticker. 3) Purchase stickers, gemstones, ribbon and anything else you'd like to decorate the hanger with. You can buy these type of things at craft stores like Hobby Lobby and Michaels. 4) Use a hot glue gun, even on stickers, to ensure each piece of applique you apply will hold. Adhesive on craft stickers often doesn't hold on wood very well. 5) Begin by placing the letters where you'd like them on the hanger. Then glue on other design stickers, pearls or gemstones. If you apply pearls individually, be careful to separate them evenly and by shape and size so they don't look too clumped! 6) Apply ribbon around the top of the hanger, or around the sides. Tips: --> Use different colors or shapes for your maid of honor and bridesmaids, or bridesmaids and flower girls, etc. --> Make one for yourself that says Bride! Make ones for your mother and future mother in law for their dresses as well. --> Ensure the hanger you choose will carry the weight of the dress. keep in mind that some hangers will not hold heavy wedding or bm dresses. |

Hangers
This is a favorly easy project and the only time consuming thing about it is waiting for the paint to dry. Started by going to Walmart and picking up a 5-pack of shirt hangers. Use some white paint you have laying around the house or buy a small amount.
Before painting put tape along the bottom part of the metal hook, to prevent paint from getting on it. Then apply three layers of white paint until you have the solid white color you are after. ( awesome drying apparatus; lamp from bedroom) As they are drying printout all the girls name in the font want. On the back of each slip of paper trace their name in pencil. Then place the strip on the hanger and rub over the name to transfer the lead to the hanger. After that take purple paint and painted over the lead writing. Then take them outside and spray them down with a clear spray paint to protect the surfaces. And boom done, you have some nice personalized hangers for your ladies! |

Wedding Invitation
DIY
Materials Needed
Card Stock Paper Printer Scrap-booking scissors (your choice of pattern) Folk- art paint Single hole punch Ribbon Paint brushes Scissors (for cutting ribbon) Instructions 1. The first step is to decide on the wording that you would like to use on you invitations. Then create a document in a program like Word 2. Make your document two pages long by putting a second copy of your wording on the next page. 3. Then set it up so they both will print on one regular size of the card stock. Like the picture to your right. 4. Now fold the paper in half and cut out each half carefully along the edge. (It should now begin to resemble an invitation!!!) 5. The next step is to paint your design on the bottom of the invitation. 6. The next step is to punch two holes in the top of the invitation. Make sure your hole will allow the bow to be in the centre. My advice for this is to find the centre of one of the invitations and measure the distance you choose on either side. For mine I chose 0.5cm on either side of the centre so that the middle of my ribbon was 1.0 cm. Once you have measured it out on the first copy the way I remembered it was I just remembered what letters in the first line the holes were above and I found that this worked really well. 7. Once your holes are punched you can put your ribbon in. For the first ribbon you should allow some extra length as you can always trim it after. Take you ribbon and place it shine/front-side up and insert the two ends into the two holes (now the ends of the ribbon are at the back of the invitations). 8. Now cross the ribbons and put each end out the opposite hole it was the first time. Trim the ends of the ribbon and voila!! 9. Use the same idea of the card stock and folk-art paint to create your reply cards and place cards as well. Good-Luck and Have Fun!! |
