Bridesmaids
How should I ask them??
I have a pretty good idea of who I want to have stand at my side during my wedding - but I havent quite decided how to ask!!
I feel like most of them already know I want them to - but I still want to ask them in a sweet and memorable way.
I've googled and found tons of cards which are sweet but in my heart I want something a little more unique.
A co-worker said i should bake cookies or ask with a cupcake - but I am a terrible baker! I also saw on here someone asked with bottles of wine...any advice?

How did you ask your ladies?

Also - I plan on having a guy in my bridal party...any boy-ish ideas?

Planning Planning Planning
Heading to DR in march!
Getting ready to book my first trip to the Dominican Republic!! Can't wait to finally see the house my husband grew up in and taste his mothers cooking! There are so many things about this trip that are so moving to me. I really can't wait!
I also can't wait to be able to see our church in person and book a hotel/reception site....once I have that taken care of I feel like the other details will start to fall in to place.

I'm so happy I'm having a double ceremony. It was really special to be able to have an intimate ceremony with my husband- and now I'm married. But I still get to be a bride for a whole year! So fun :)

Surprise!
Married :)
Soon after my fiance and i started planning our wedding in the Dominican Republic, we realized how complicated the paperwork would be - so we decided it would be easier to have a small ceremony here first - that way we can enjoy our church wedding next year without having to worry about the legality!
Ever since Keysi asked me to marry him - My mom had been planning our engagement party. Because of the timing - it seemed like the perfect time to have a quick wedding. So we surprised our guest when the JOP showed up and married us on the spot! It was so perfect for us...totally intimate and low key. Since not everyone in our families were able to attend, we're keeping the marriage quiet until our church ceremony in the Dominican Republic.

Any one else ever had experience with double ceremonies?

Ceremony
Since my fiance is dominican, we both agree that a carribean wedding is perfect for us! Having the flexibility of good weather year-round is a huge plus for me. And also being able to share our special day with his family is really important as well. (it's hard for his family to travel, whereas mine loves new places!)

The tough part about it is planning from so far away! I've never been to DR and I keep having these awful thoughts of not being able to find simple things like videographers or hairstylist that are quality. Thank goodness we are planning a few trips down between now and the ceremony!

I've done a lot of research online though, and what i have found i LOVE...like this church in Punta Cana! It's totally my style ...simple and clean...also it is small enough that our 75-ish guests will sit comfortably but it wont look empty!

My next step is picking a venue for the reception. There are so many all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana which all have pretty good deals for wedding receptions. Part of me just wants to pick one...and the rest of me is opting for something less cookie-cutter. We will see once i get down there!

Our Photos
Photography has always been something that is really important to me. My father is a photographer and it has been the one passion that has kept my relationship close to him through the years.
I knew when Keysi and I got engaged that I wanted some beautiful quality photos of the two of us. I didn't want them for the typical newspaper anouncement, but more to be able to share with our families who live so far away.

My fiance and I live in New England, but his family is mostly in the Dominican Republic and the majority of mine is scattered along the california coast or in England. I knew i wanted our families to see us and our relationship in a natural way so they can connect with us before the big day!

I'm a total budget girl (who isn't these days) so for the session I asked my brother to shoot us. He's been experimenting with photography for years but is just now trying to build a portfolio. It was a win-win for both of us and I just love how they turned out!

The Proposal
Keysi and I were engaged on July 15th 2011. It was a total surprise!

My fiance is Dominican and loves to dance. He, along with the couple that set us up, had been planning a night out of latin dancing on a Salsa harbor cruise out of Boston.

The entire night was wonderful. Full moon, great music, a perfect summer night. :)

While we were taking a break on the upper deck, Keysi surprised me by getting down on one knee and asking for me to make him the happiest man in the world and be his wife. I said Yes!!

So here we are, a couple months later, and I'm starting to get down and dirty in the event planning - I've been stalking a friends blog on here and knew I needed to join too..so this is my first attempt at an entry!!! :)
