Our big cake search is over! We had 3 tastings scheduled this month. The first one was terrible! The cake was very dry, and the buttercream icing had too much almond flavoring in it.

The second tasting was awesome! We literally went to this old, retired lady's house and met with her. I was concerned about that at first, but her house was clean and I did not see any cats! My oh my, her cake was soooooo delicious!

We were expecting a lot from our 3rd tasting. We had several cakes from this baker before and they were all WONDERFUL! But the tasting was quite disappointing. We didn't have the WOW factor. The cake was dry and the baker was pretty much rushing us out of there.

So, we decided to use the 2nd baker- the little old lady. :) And she quoted us about $530 for the bride's & groom's cake. Sweet!!!!

Now, we have to decide on cake flavors. Of course, the groom's cake will be chocolate. The bride's cake ... I love lemon cake, but that may not be a crowd favorite. The Bailey's Irish Creme is also on the list. What flavor will your wedding cake be?

My cake will be a yellow butter cake with buttercream icing and fondant. For a groom's cake we're serving key lime pie because it's my FH favorite!

Mine is 3 different flavors, carrot cake with cream cheese filling on the bottom, chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling on the middle layer and white cake with bavarian cream and raspberry filling on the top! Oh man, now I am hungery! LOL

Our wedding cake had three tiers: chocolate with cherry filling, chocolate with strawberry filling, and white with whipped cream filling.

As for our vow renewal... I don't even know. We have to have chocolate and cherry for the hubby, as that is his favorite flavor. I also kind of like yellow cake with a chocolate pudding filling. And Bailey's/Kahlua are always fabulous choices. Too many choices and not enough tiers! Haha. We'll have to think more about it when we get there.

our cake was Harvest Spice with Pumpkin Mousse and was a HUGE hit!!! The grooms cake was chocolate Raspberry Torte with chocolate covered strawberries. They provided a small sheet cake of Vanilla Decadance for those who didn't like the other 2 flavors.

Our cake is 5 Tiers. We are having Spice cake with Caramel Filling, and Butter Pecan Cake with Bavarian Filling. We are also having a sheet cake that is White cake with Orange cream filling (for the picky eaters). All with buttercream frosting.

My wedding cake was 3 tiers and all were different flavors. The bottom was marble cake with chocolate and van filling middle was Red Velvet with cream cheese icing for the filling and the top was chocolate with a dark chocolate fudge filling. It went over well and taste better than ever. However we had a few people with chocolate allgerys and didnt know it.. So if I could pass on one bit of advise its to make sure you have something small without chocolate in it. My poor guests who couldnt eat chocolate had to go with out...

White cake with Cream chesse and strawberry filling. I wasn't excited at all about cakes, until we met with the cake baker we plan to book with. Now I can't wait to have their cake the day of the wedding.

Ours was Lemon Mousse with whipped Buttercream. So refreshing and delicious! I wanted strawberries, but they weren't in season yet.

Now that sounds so good!

Well, we had a vanilla cake with whipped icing and bavarian cream filling for our wedding cake and a chocolate fudge groom's cake and an italian cream cake for the bride's cake. However, we just cancelled with that baker for...well let's just say she screwed up FH b-day cake (which was supposed to be a small version of our wedding cake) and we didn't trust her after mucking up so badly. So, now we are cakeless with less than two months to go...but the good news is that now we can have more cake tastings! Lol.

yummmy! Your cake looks/sounds delicious! We're having a 3 tiered squared cake. My tier will be Strawberries & cream, his choice was French marble and we're indecisive about the 3rd layer.

I have no idea what my cake flavors will be but each layer will have its own flavor.
