So i wont say i wasnt expecting it but it still came as a surprise as FH had carefully placed decoys to mislead his nosey FW...
FH said that he had my ring but that it was at the jewellers...This was a fact... but what i didnt know was that he'd picked it up in time for our weekend away with family.
From the Friday night FH was insisting on taking my parents out for dinner the following night to say Thank-you for the holiday. He very sneakily got me to help him choose the restaurant and mentioned he was looking for a nice one on the beach. We decided upon C-Bali at st Michaels beach near Uvongo. I got distracted with the mini market outside whilest he snuck into the restaurant to "book" the table.
That night as we were getting ready to go for dinner, i jokingly said to him "have you got the ring"...he laughed and assured me it was at the jewellers for 3 weeks which i knew so i shrugged off the idea.
Later at dinner after we'd all had our full of seafood and springrolls and all the yummy eats, FH asked me to go for a walk on the beach with him coz he wanted to smoke...i was very reluctant to join him as i was sunburnt, cold and tired..."Maagies vol, oggies toe" as they say in SA which translates to "Tummy Full, Eyes Closed". Needless to say i eventually joined decided to join him. As we stepped outside i noticed the spotlight from the carpark shining onto the crashing waves which illuminated them. Just as i was about to head back for my camera, the spotlight went off as it was over heating and needed to cool. lol!
We both walked on the beach for a bit in the dark, I was waiting for Werner to finish smoking and he was waiting for the spotlight to come back on so he could pop the Q. Just as i decided id had enough of the chilly air, Werner swung me around, got down on one knee and opened a little heart shaped silver box and asked me to be his wife <3 Of course i said yes!
The rest of the evening was spent drinking champagne and celebrating...
FH later told me that he'd gone and bought a CD with our song on the friday before and intended to play it in the restaurant and then propose at the table... unfortunately the restaurant didnt have a CD player though so it was Plan B... I think im happy about that as im not sure id have liked to be the centre of attention like that :-)
So the planning begins...
