Bridal Shower
Love Is Sweet ...
So, despite the lost invites and half of the invited guests not being able to make it... I HAD A ROCKIN' BRIDAL SHOWER.
My Bridesmaids made it memorable. My mother and sister (MOH) made sure everything went smoothly. I arrived, had great food, sangria and red velvet cake with loved ones and opened amazing gifts the whole time. The warmth in the room from having all these lovely ladies gathered there for me & Chris was amazing. My one Bridesmaid had the cake made to mirror the image on the bridal shower invitation. Stunning- red velvet cake- tasted even better than it looked somehow. My favorite detail! My FSIL/ bridesmaid made us an amazing honeymoon basket and photo frames with photos of us already in them for our place. We started putting all the gifts in our little love nest and the place is so OURS and cozy now. So greatful for everything. |

Ask a Question
Vent- Why must people lose invitations?
So, we try really hard to make our events special and worthwhile. That includes planning and time.
Why do people insist on losing invitations? Good thing I know about my bridal shower. I can not even count the number of people who have lost the invite. I've been re-sending my own invitation. Insane, I tell you. People complain that I'm too much of a planner. But no one else in my life is organized- which puts the work right on me. WTF? When does the Bride to be get to relax? Just the honeymoon??? Moreover, people have misplaced my wedding invitations too- which I made by hand with so much love. Is this happening to other 2010 Brides out there?Well, I had to let that out. Advice to future brides- do not overspend or over-do your invites. We really end up just doing it for ourselves and our FH's. Hope this happens to no one else! |

My 28th Birthday!
So I definitely felt the love for my Birthday yesterday- July 7th.
With 64 days until our wedding day, I was reminded again- how lucky I am! After a bouquet of chocolate covered strawberries, balloons and a teddy bear all arrived at my office- I was glowing. My FH, mother and sister were responsible for that. When I got home, I was further spoiled. My future husband made us homemade lasagna from scratch- he's half Irish/ half Italian and the Italian side can really cook! The Irish side of him remembered to get my favorite wines- Riesling & Merlot. In addition, he gave me these awesome Coach sunglasses I had been eyeing. And he did not stop there- my card was perfect and sweet and inside of it was a gift certificate for me to get a mani/pedi before my bridal shower. We have been saving and stressing trying to stay on our wedding budget and he still pulled all this off. To top it all off, a good friend of mine who can't make it to the bridal shower sent us a registry gift. And a family friend blessed us further- agreeing to help us with a personal loan if we fall short for the wedding. So blessed. I'm glowing from the inside out and my mission now- is to make 28 FABULOUS! Off to a good start! |

DIY Wedding
Centerpieces
Not all the way done yet, but they are on their way.
Pic 1- for the regular round tables of 6 Pic 2- Imagine water in the vase along with the LED light. The bridesmaids flowers- white dahlias in the vase also. These will be at bridesmaids' tables. Pic 3- The longer tables of 8 seats will have these. Double this landscape- cube, cylinder, cube, cylinder, cube. Again water & white LED lights inside the cube vases. The tall cylinder will have a floating candle in the water with white LED light. Thoughts/ suggestions? Is three different ones too much for one wedding? |

Wedding Reception
Food Tasting was AMAZING!
Everything- even things we don't usually eat - was amazing!!!
Asparagus, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Coconut Shrimp, Stuffed Mushrooms, Chicken Cordon Bleu...Prime Rib w/ bernaise sauce, Spinach ravioli, Salmon, Lemon Chicken, Choocolate strawberries, Cheesecake. They must have served us samples of every single thing on the menu. Gotta love the on site Maitre'D and catering staff. Everything came right out of their kitchen. SO yummy. And the staff was genuinely nice to us- not because it was their job. |

DIY Wedding
Unity Candle, Photo Mat, Table Numbers
Things I put together to make the BIG DAY better.
Unity Candle- I still have to put our date on the candle stand. We'll have a table lakeside for this and our heirloom rosary. Also, figure we can re-purpose this on the mantle when we get our first home together- with a fireplace. In the meantime, we'll find a shelf. Photo Mat- Just fun to have our guests sign. We just used an engagement photo we liked. Table numbers- after a very long road- we figured out that rocks go with our lakeside, airy, earthy wedding vibe. So, I spraypainted them with glitter and painted the numbers on with orange paint. I already had all the materials and the rocks came from our front yard by the balcony. Cost- free- peace of mind- priceless and they only took 15 minutes to finish off. |

GOT TO HAVE FAITH
80 days to go...
With only 80 days to go, I have to proclaim that my faith has been renewed.
Despite our budgetary concerns- paying for our wedding on our own, etc.- we have never been more sure that we want to get married. More importantly- we want to BE married already :-) It's easy to get lost in the details and forget the reason for all the planning, etc. But we are making it happen- one step at a time. Invitations are out, bridal shower has been planned by my mother and bridesmaids. It's going to happen. I have faith that God will light the way for us. |
