Wedding Decoration

For the Envelopes!

Okay, so I completely have no business whatsoever even peeking at decorative or personalized stamps for the wedding, due to my budget. HOWEVER, a woman can still look..can't she?!

I have been on zazzle.com in the past, but stopped back by today, just to peek. The stamps are sold in sheets of 20 for $16.95. It would be in my budget if we were inviting 20! We have a guest list of 160. But anyway, I love the look of them, & you just never know. One alternative that I will most likely do is use my Damask rubber stamp (photo in previous blog) & put a nice aqua or gray stamp on the corner of the envelope...just to give our personal touch. Looks like I'll be getting the good ol' USPS stamps. Gotta love em.

I agree... custom postage stamps would be nice.. but out of those 160.. how many people do you really think will look at the stamp. lol
I ordered a custom rubber stamp with our wedding logo, with our initials on it, for only $14.(including shipping to canada)  I am stamping it on the corner of our envelopes and embossing it.. cheapy cheapy.. but so pretty!!! Check out my blog for a pic of the logo. ..I got the stamp at www.simonstamp.com

I really wanted custom stamps with our photo until I found out it will already cost me more to mail since I am set on square invites.

Yes, brides, it costs more to mail a square envelope!

As if the usps doesn't get enough money already, right?
We paid $22.34 for our invite materials (excluding the rubber stamps and ink pad because we're using them again in other places) plus we still have enough cover stock to make the programs and more.
The total for our postage the invites and rsvp postards was $33.60. Now I know other brides are paying more, but I thought my numbers put things into perspective. If email is free, why must we have to pay to send a note to a friend??

sns, you can say that again!  who woulda thought stamps would cost so much nowadays!?  why must we have to pay to send a note!?  i guess they know we're gonna bite the bullet anyway, & it just has to be done.  and then look at what marta said about the square invites!  we're doing square!  if i didnt  have so many oot guests, id hand deliver these things myself!

The majority of our invitations are actually going to be Evites.  Only the older, non-internet users will get paper invitations (about 45).  I have several reasons for using Evite -- most of our friends respond quicker (and actually DO respond) to internet requests, it's FREE, and it's better for the environment (there's so much wasted paper in a traditional wedding invitation).

This is not to put down all the brides out there mailing regular invites.  This is just what resonates best with me.  And I'm struggling with how to make my few paper invites.

Anyway, postage was another big factor, especially with the cost going up again in May.  I've already bought about 250 forever stamps, to try to cover thank yous as well!
