Just found out we're pregnant!
I haven't posted in a long time, but I knew I had to let you ladies know. I just took my positive test earlier today. My DH isn't home, so I went and got a bottle and pacifier and put them in a gift bag along with the positive test to give him when he gets home. I couldn't find a single thing that said "I love daddy" or anything that wasn't pink. I'm so excited! It's not a complete surprise though, we've been trying for about four months. Wish us luck ladies! We're 3 weeks and 3 days pregnant! YAY!!!

Valentine's Day gift idea
My husband is a total book worm. He even read the Twilight series before I did. I'm not good at picking out books for him though, I think he should be able to pick his own books. I was over at thenest.com earlier today and ran across a list of gift ideas. One of them was a personalized book. It was perfect! The website is www.bookbyyou.com. You pick a basic storyline and then you personalize character information to suit you and your man. It was right at $40 including shipping. I got a coupon code for 10% off, it's VAL10. I just thought this was a really fun and unique gift that any reader would enjoy. I wanted to share my finding with all you wonderful ladies!

Reception wine suggestions
Obviously everyone has different taste in wine, but these are my two picks. I would recommend these two wines for the beginner wine drinker. They are easy to drink and have a nice fresh taste. I personally prefer Italian wines, so these are both Italian.

Castello del Poggio Moscato d'Asti is my white wine suggestion. It's a little bubbly, but not like champagne. It's not at all dry and it has a pleasant aftertaste. Light peach and earthy flavors. Floral aroma. Very easy to drink and only 5% alcohol. I bought a bottle of this earlier this week and paid $17 at my local liquor store. You can order it online and get a lower price though. I haven't been able to find this in a grocery store though.

Riunite Lambrusco is a light red wine. Meaning it's not a dry or bitter red wine. It's a little stronger in flavor and more rich than the Moscato. This wine is more full and bold. Higher alcohol content. Still very easy to drink. More fruity flavored than earthy or floral. I think I normally pay between $8 and $10 for a bottle of this wine. This wine is available at the grocery store or a liquor store.

I also like Riesling white wine and a Chianti red. I highly recommend trying a few different types of wine before you decide which one to serve at your wedding. I'm no wine expert, I just recently started drinking wine and decided I wanted to help other beginner wine drinkers figure out what they like. I hope this helps someone. I really hope that some of you will really try these wines, even if you think you don't like wine.

Moving on...
I decided I would start blogging outside of our safe WBC world. I got so addicted to blogging through WBC that I don't want to stop, but I'm not a bride anymore. I'll still be on WBC (I can't help myself!), but I wanted a place I could write about anything. It's still a work in progress, but if you want to follow me, here's the link:

I would love to follow you ladies too! I really enjoy reading about all of you, no matter what you're writing about.

Ask a Question
I may be pregnant...what should I do?
I'll give you guys a little info about my personal life, just so you have all the details. Before I start I want to warn you that this post will be graphic. I just don't want to catch anyone off guard.

I just turned 25 and my husband is 26. We've been together since I was 18 and lived together since I was 19. We just got married in October. We weren't planning on having children this soon, but that may be a possibility. I don't want to talk to anyone in my family or any of my friends about it just yet.

We both want children, but not right now. We were thinking of waiting about a year to start trying. Hubby's job isn't exactly where he'd like it to be right now. He applied for a job as an air traffic controller last year (it's a really long process). He took the test to get hired and scored a 98 on it, so now it's just a waiting game. If he had already gotten the job this wouldn't be an issue at all, but right now my income is primarily what we live on. So our biggest concerns are financial. We know that eventually we won't have to worry about it, but what do we do until then?

So here's why I'm concerned: I stopped taking birth control after the wedding, I was only taking it to prevent my period. Well, we had sex last night and the condom came off, the best part? I'm ovulating. The condom we used didn't have spermicide either. So we're a little concerned because pregnancy is now a big possibility. Hubby wants me to take the morning after pill, but I don't think I want to. I sort of feel like we're were only waiting a year anyway. He has mixed emotions about it too though, one minute he's dead set on the morning after pill and the next he's all "my parents will be so excited". I just don't know what I should do. Should I take the stupid pill or not? I really do want to be pregnant. Part of me has been wishing something like this would happen. I know I'm ready to have a family, I have been for about two years now, I've been begging him. I worry that I'll resent him if I take the morning after pill. I think we'll be fine if I am pregnant. I just have this feeling that everything will work out.

What should I do? I would appreciate any advice you might have.

*******UPDATE*******

After a lot of talking, we decided not to use the morning after pill. I really appreciate everyone's input. We decided that if it's meant to be, well then who are we to get in the way? We both wanted children, but we were going to wait just one more year. Who knows though? I may not even be pregnant. I plan on taking a pregnancy test if I miss my period. I will let you ladies know what happens.

If I am not pregnant I will probably go back on birth control, but I will admit that I was a little offended by the attitude that getting pregnant was my fault because I wasn't currently taking birth control. I understand that condoms aren't 100% effective, but neither is any other form of birth control. The method of birth control I decide to use is between my husband and I and I won't be judged for my decision. I do appreciate every opinion I was given. I always appreciate feedback. You ladies are awesome!

Recipe Swap
Let's share for Thanksgiving!
I'm really a big time foodie, like southern style. I enjoy cooking and entertaining and I love sharing recipes with other people. I would love to hear your recipes! I suggest that everyone post a recipe or two today to share for Thanksgiving. What do you ladies think? I'll get it started with a recipe for peach cobbler and southern style cornbread dressing.

Peach Cobbler
4 pounds or 32 ounces of peeled and sliced peaches (frozen works just fine)
2 cups of sugar, divided
1 cup of milk
1 stick of butter, not margerine
1 cup of self rising flour
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Put your stick of butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish or a 2 qt dish and place it in the oven while it preheats until the butter is melted. Put your peaches in a bowl and pour the lemon juice on them and stir, then add 1 cup of the sugar and microwave for about a minute or until the sugar starts to melt. In a separate bowl mix the rest of the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Pour the milk over the flour mixture and beat until smooth. Here's the hard part...pour your batter over your butter in the baking dish but DO NOT STIR. Then pour your peaches and sugar over that and DO NOT STIR. Place the dish, without stirring anything together in the oven and bake at 350 for 55 minutes or until golden brown. This is fabulous served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Southern Style Cornbread Dressing
1 pan of cornbread, crumbled (use less for smaller groups)
1 loaf of bread
6 to 8 cans of Swanson brand chicken broth (yep, the brand does make a difference here)
6 eggs, beaten
1 to 2 tablespoons of sage
salt and pepper to taste

First the cornbread...Mix 2 cups of Martha White corn meal mix with buttermilk and a spash of water until it's like a thick pancake batter. Pour a little oil in a pan, castiron is the best, but a cake pan will work too, heat that in the oven until it's very hot. Pour your batter into the hot oil and bake at 375 until golden brown, about 45 minutes.
Crumble your cornbread in an extra large mixing bowl and add the loaf of bread, torn into small pieces. Pour in the chicken broth until everything is covered and a little soupy. You can add any kind of cooked meat you like or chopped onion and celery at this point, but it's optional. Season to taste with sage, salt and pepper. Seriously, taste it and make sure you like it before you put the eggs in. Lastly pour your beaten eggs in and stir. Ladle the dressing into metal pans, this will make more than one pan. Bake on 350 until brown on top, but still soft. This will take about 45 minutes.

If you have any questions about these recipes, please ask me! I would love to help you make these goodies! The dressing is my mother's recipe and everyone always compliments it. It may take making it a couple of times to get it exactly how you like it, but that's true with any recipe, practice makes perfect! Keep trying it and tweaking it until it's your own. I really hope you ladies enjoy! If you do make these, let me know how you liked them, I love to hear the feedback!

Ask a Question
Do you wish you could do it all over?
My wedding was a month ago, and while I'm very pleased with the way everything turned out, I wish I could do it all over again. I sort of wish I could have multiple weddings, just so I could change the colors and theme everytime. I'm so in love with the rainbow theme, and the carnival theme and the rock'n'roll theme and so on. I don't want to go through it all again, just try out different themes and ideas. There are so many unique things you can do with your wedding. I really didn't push the envelope so much because everytime I tried it caused problems. I do wish I had been more creative and been more myself. I started out wanting a rock'n'roll wedding with tattoo art and what not, but that quickly got nixed because it was out of everyone else's comfort zones. Certain family members had ideas of what a wedding is supposed to be and I was forced to somewhat stick to their ideals. Like I said before, I loved my wedding and I think everything turned out perfect, but I would like to try out different ideas too. Do you ever feel like changing your theme or going back and planning a whole different wedding, even though you're happy with what you planned/are planning? Just curious if I'm the only one.

Vendor Review
by: futuremrsweikle
It's been a month now. I can't believe it's taken me so long to post this! Life since the wedding has been just as busy as it was leading up to it. I'm so ready for the long weekend ahead and the fabulous food! Anyway, back to what we're here for...my vendor review.

Angler's Beachside Grill: A+
They were fantastic! They let us in early to decorate and they were very helpful and accomodating. Their service staff was fantastic! The food was delicious and never ran out. My only complaint is about the bartender. The bartender was very rude to some of my guests, but it didn't take away from the whole experience. Over all we had a great experience.

Patti Terjak of Surfside Brides: C
Patti was very rude throughout the whole process. She didn't want to help or explain things to me about anything. She served as the wedding coordinator and officiant and I really wish I had used someone else. She didn't want to let my florist decorate anything and she didn't want to listen to what I wanted. She was always very forceful about the way she did things and what she liked. She complained about my MIL to everyone at the wedding, so it got back around. Realistically my MIL only took care of things for me. When Patti would flat out refuse to do something my MIL would take charge, but apparently that pissed Patti off. She was very rude to me about signing my marriage license as well. She scared me to death saying that my DH forgot to bring the marriage license, when in reality she never asked him for it. Whatever, at least that drama is all over.

Destin DJ: A+++
No complaints whatsoever! They were worth every penny we spent! We had so much fun dancing! He played excellent music and he was fantastic at helping me pick the music for my ceremony and everything.

Creative Celebrations Bakery: B
The cake looked great and it tasted great, but Creative Celebrations was not easy to work with. They were terrible at returning my calls and never responded to an email, even though she lied about it. The cake was a little overpriced for what we got if you ask me, but I wasn't too dissapointed. She didn't really stick to the design I gave her, but it was close.

Cutebrides: A
This is the ebay seller that I bought my veil from. My veil was perfect and a fabulous price. I highly recommend them.

Glassart234: A+
This is the ebay seller that I bought my sand ceremony vases from. They were personalized and they turned out perfect and they were shipped to me really fast. I recommend them for any glass etching!

Helyn Rose Studio: A+
I bought my cake topper from them. It was exactly what I wanted. It was a little more expensive than I wanted, but it was well worth it. They make beautiful handmade cake toppers.

August Lily: A+++
My florist was amazing! All my flowers were silk, but she did a wonderful job arranging them. I would absolutely recommend her! Her shop is in Monroe, North Carolina. My flowers turned out perfect! Better than I had imagined they would. She was really helpful with everything and she did all my decorating. She really is fabulous!

If you want to know about any other vendors that I didn't review, please let me know and I would be happy to tell you all about them.

I'm married!
futuremrsweikle is finally done!
After all the drama, after all the fights, after all the tears, it's finally all over!

The wedding was perfect! The whole day was perfect! I woke up Saturday morning and made up my mind that nothing was going to bother me, and it didn't. I was so cool and calm all day, I was just whatever about everything. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding! The sunset was perfect too! We did have to move the ceremony up to 5:30 pm because the sun was setting way too fast at 6. I can't wait to see the video of the ceremony, I really don't remember much of it. The day went by so fast it was such a blur. I did my own hair and makeup and I did the makeup on two of my bridesmaids. Our ceremony went off without a hitch, except that the officiant decided at the last minute that we would do a blessing of the shells and didn't tell us beforehand so we had no clue what was going on. Other than that, everything went smooth.

The reception was far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! I had so much fun dancing with everyone! Our DJ was fantastic! I'll do a vendor review soon. We did have a few little problems setting up, but nothing major. My candy buffet was a hit! Sadly, hubby and I didn't really get to eat or get any candy. I did however do my fair share of the drinking! LOL We had a fountain of vodka, peach schnapps, sprite, cranberry juice and lemonade. It was so yummy!

I'll post more pictures when I get them! These are just some of the ones I was able to snag off facebook!

I decided to change just my last name (previous post). I'm now Ashley Brooke Weikle! Yay!

Do you practice signing your new name?
I'm just wondering if any of you have been practicing signing your new name? I really haven't ever practiced before. I sort of felt like it's bad luck or something. I did break down and practice a little today. Seeing as how I get married in less than a week I don't think it's crazy to start practicing. It's really going to take some getting used to!

So, how many of you have been practicing?

Brandon and I have been together for almost six years. We are planning a ceremony on the beach followed by a casual reception on a restaurant patio overlooking the beach. Our original plan was to get married on 9/19/2009, however due to some venue changes we are now getting married on October 24, 2009. I couldn't be happier with my wedding plans! Things have been stressful, but it's all coming together now. Our main color is bright pink accented with beige/cream and aqua blue. We're sticking to the beach theme and decorating a lot with seashells and starfish.
