Turning Into A Bridezilla
A few incidences have happened today causing me to be soooo close to pulling out my hair and making the announcement that I no longer want a bridal party!
1. My MOH have been planning on going dress shopping today since the last 2 dresses that I found failed. The first one was too expensive for them, the other was sold out a few days after finding it.
Well, I tried calling her last night, no answer so I text'd her asking if we were still on for today... no answer. I text'd her this morning and she told me that she didn't have the money anymore. She had to spend it on bills, which is completely understandable. She did offer to go looking with me still but I don't want to find a 3rd dress that I love only for it to become unavailable for some reason.
2. I tried rescheduling for the day of the bridal shower, we would go afterwards. My bridesmaid that will be coming from NC has plans that night so she won't be available. I have been waiting for her to come back so that we could go shopping and she knows this.
3. Originally when we started planning the wedding I had asked NC bridesmaid if she would do my hair for the big day since she's a stylist. She said yes. Okay, that was when we first started planning.
I asked her today if she would have time to do a while she's in town to do a hair trial. She responded with, "am I doing your hair?" I told her, "if you're able to..." and her last response was, "we'll talk about it and see what you want". WTF!
Okay, so these things aren't crucial. No one's dying, no one's threatening to burn my dress or ruin my wedding day. I know there's issues that are much bigger than this but WITH 49 DAYS TO GO I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am trying so hard to stay level headed and not become like the girl in the picture, but ladies... it's getting hard. I am to the point where I don't want to deal with NC bridesmaid and I just want to find another stylist. I will do my own makeup and hopefully find a hair stylist who won't charge a whole lot. We're on an extremely small budget and I barely have enough to pull off this wedding, but I would rather spend money on someone to style my hair for me who I know will do it than to chance anything.
As far as dresses go... I want to tell them to go pick out a blue, knee length bridesmaid dress, gold heels and I will find the accessories. Heck, that will be my gift to them. More like a gift to myself... I won't have to deal with this headache anymore!
We have chosen our wedding vows, will need to write our vows to each other and I am about to choose the wording for the ring ceremony, but there are 2 readings that I really like and want to have read during the ceremony. Not by us but by someone else, possibly a bridesmaid and groomsman or someone. One is scripture, the other is a poem written by Mark Twain.
1st One... Colossians 3:12-17
As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other, just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive.
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
2nd One.. This I Can Promise by Mark Twain
I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;
I cannot promise riches, wealth or gold;
I cannot promise you an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old.
But I can promise all my heart's devotion;
A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;
A love that's ever true and ever growing;
A steady hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.
A love that's ever true and ever growing;
A steady hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow.
I found this while helping my MoH look for inspiration ideas for her SIL's baby shower.
You can enter a message inside the heart.
You tell them what message you want, they make it then e-mail it to you... for free.
I thought it was a pretty cute idea.
A Few Finished DIY Projects
1 - Ring Bearer Pillow, it doesn't have a place to put the rings but that's fine since our BM and MOH will have them anyway.
Satin, lace, feathers and a gold broach. The broach in the middle belonged to my grandma on my dads side of the family. I wanted to incorporate something from her into the ceremony but already had all of my jewelry.
2 - Flower Girl Basket. There are gold clip-on earrings on both sides, something else from my grandma. I thought they matched the broach on the RB pillow. There isn't any lace detailing, but there is white satin and feathers.
3 - My feather fascinator. Bought the flower from Walmart for $2, was going to add a few feathers and well, I went overboard. FH doesn't like it, he says it looks like a bird flew into my head and blew up. I love it though and if it's the one thing that I don't compromise on, then so be it!
4-6 - Advice & Blessing Cards. I won't be using that basket, that's just being used to hold them for the moment. I still have more to make but I need to purchase more ribbon. Who knew that it would take about 15 spools of ribbon to make these?!
7-9 - Our large chandelier. We will be placing candles in the chandelier. I bought it covered in cob webs for $1 at the thrift store and added the acrylic "gems" that I had originally bought for our crystal tree. Don't get me wrong, the crystal tree will still be present... there will be two, but I just happened to have enough for all 3 projects.
10 - Dessert Bar Sign. The frame was originally white, I purchased it from Ross a few years ago. I painted it green, covered it in modge podge to protect it and then created the sign using a graphic I found online and then adding the words, "Love Is Sweet"
Monogram for Ceremony Doors
I bought the letters from Hobby Lobby yesterday (50% off both, making the total $10 and some change).
I purchased the ribbon from Michaels.
Hot glued the ribbon onto the back of the letters this morning and tada, we have our mongram for the outside of the church!!!
VERY easy project and I have had my eye on the gold letters evert time I went to Hobby Lobby for something, only I didn't have $20 to spend on our monogram... I was going to try to do the letters made out of moss instead since it seemed cheaper.
Anyway, I have my ideal letters for the monogram!!! Yay!
I did thank God for this one... it's a huge blessing to me that they were 50% off when I showed up to purchase them with a 40% off coupon.
It saved me money and an extra trip since you can only use on 40% off coupon per day at the same store.
Wrought Iron Cross at Ceremony Altar
Today while running errands I went to Khols to update our wedding registry there.
While I was there I found this really pretty black cross. The bottom is made so that it can stand up.
Anyway, it gave me this idea. Now, I know it's not original, but I haven't seen pictures of an altar done this way so it's original to me. ;)
I want to buy a wrought iron cross to put on the table that we will light the unity candle and take communion on.
The idea of the cross being infront of what we're doing, kind of being the main focal point... the center of it all, it's quite symbolic to me.
I might have certain family members on both sides put a flower on the cross to kind of symbolize the unity of God and our families.
The stage will have candles and then the table which will have the cross, communion glass, small plate for our bread and then the unity candle.
I am excited!!!!
Anyway, the one I saw at Khols was $50 so when I went to Hobby Lobby I noticed that they have some really pretty ones that are 50% off. The one I liked the most was really big (so that everyone, even those on the back row, could see it). 50% off would make the one I really like $15! It doesn't have a base to where it can stand up, but having parents who own a furniture business, my dad has a welder so he could easily make a base for it.
I have to go get my daughter from school in about 10min so I don't have time to post pictures yet, but when I do I will post pictures of the cross at Hobby Lobby and pictures of the initials that I bought from Hobby Lobby.
Hobby Lobby Initials 50% Off
Their gold initials and hanging wall decor is 50% off right now.
Yesterday WBC bride jbeyer719 posted a Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon on her blog. Well, like most of the WBC brides here, Hobby Lobby has become a place I visit very often for wedding items.
I have seen these gold initials there every time I went and even though I loved them and we're wanting to hang a "V" and a "K" outside of the church doors for the ceremony, they're originally $9.99 each, making both $20. That isn't much but when you're a bride on an EXTREMELY small budget, that's $20 that could be used somewhere else.
The coupon made my dream seem like a possible reality, so this morning I woke up and ran a few errands. Updating two of our registries and going to Hobby Lobby. I printed out 2 coupons to use at 2 different stores so that I could get these!
Well, to my surprise, I went to grab the initials and they were 50% off! That's A LOT better than a 40% off coupon. Don't get me wrong, that is still a huge blessing and I am sure they will be put to use by this weekend.
Anyway, long story short... I have our "mongram initials" for hanging outside of the church, for the price of one!!!
I also stopped by Michaels to see this damask deal that other WBC brides have been talking about and purchased 4 spools of damask ribbon, 2 in black & cream, 2 in red & cream.
I think I am going to use one of the black & cream spools for hanging the letters. SOOOO happy!
Any day that I am able to get something accomplished for the wedding is a GREAT day.
53 days to go and only 25% accomplished.
Friday I will be meeting with our day-of planner (she is working for free, but I am giving her $50 for gas).
Saturday we'll hopefully take our engagement photos downtown.
Next week we're supposed to meet with our photographer.
Ask a Question
What Do You Think... Too Much?
Okay, I am NOT having luck with finding BM dresses!
We went to order the black and white dress I posted earlier but there were only larges. No problem, they cost $40 so we can alter them to the sizes they need. Well, when one of my BM's went to buy hers she wasn't sure what size she needed and since it was an online only item, she was talking to someone who works for the online store. He told her that they would get another shipment of the dresses in two days. I checked the next day and the dress was completely off of the website! I e-mailed someone about it and my BM called the online store, they told both of us that the guy should have never said that, they never know what they're getting in and what they're not getting in.
Needless to say, we're having to go dress shopping!!!
Anyway, I found this feather fascinator on Forever 21 (with my luck, of course, they don't have it available... but I can easily make these).
2 of my BM's think they're weird looking, the other 2 would wear a dress made out of burlap if I asked them to. I'm considering letting this be my one "bridezilla moment" and just asking them to wear it.
What do you ladies think about the accessory?
Here is another picture of a fascinator I like.
The white thing (not the feather, the other thing) I don't think will either A. be attached to it or B. show
Their dresses will either be a really pretty blue or black. I am thinking solid color, strapless, knee length.
Maybe the BM's in black and the MOH in blue or vice versa.
We're hopefully going dress shopping this week so we should know soon.
Save the Dates...
I'm Getting Nervous... Is This Natural?!
Tomorrow I plan to send out the Save the Dates. According to the wedding websites, this is when the invitations should be sent out BUT with our family and friends, that is not the case. If we were to send them out now, they would forget about them.
So... tomorrow I am going to send out the Save the Date's instead.
Tonight I will finish up our wedding website and then put the finishing touches on the Save the Dates.
Thing is... I'm getting nervous. Only a select few have known about the wedding since we haven't had a set date, location, etc and now we're about to announce it to everyone making it even more real. We have been talking about getting married for years and now it's about to happen. Really?! It also makes me realize that, even though I am going to be spending time working on getting the details pulled together, I need to slow down and just enjoy this part because soon... very soon... I'LL BE MARRIED.
Is it normal to be nervous?!
Location & Officiant
They're Booked!!! Finally!!!
Well, with 56 days until the wedding it's about time that we get these things accomplished!!!
We have officially booked our ceremony site, reception site and officiant. It's starting to feel real!!! Is it weird that I am getting nervous?!
Ceremony Site: Dripping Springs Community Fellowship, the church that we both attend
Our Officiant: Pastor Steve, our pastor
Our Reception Site: My parents house. This one wasn't so hard to book, I just had to mention having the reception there and that was it.
