Hello lovelies, I really hope that you are having a better day than I am today. Sorry, I need to do a little venting.
Two weeks ago I ordered my bridal jewelry from http://weddingfactorydirect.com. There were two sets. I ordered the floral set for the actual ceremony. I love it because it has the pearls and the crystals inside of the gorgeous ceramic flowers to match the floral applique on my wedding dress. Then the second set that I ordered is for the reception. I love my pearls! It's so classy and fits well with my simple white halter reception dress with the floral overlay.
I worked these two sets carefully into my budget. I have to be careful, because I'm actually paying for my wedding by myself. My FH is helping out with paying for catering and drinks, but the majority of the budget falls on me.
I've already had to cut out a lot of things that I wanted to have for the wedding, including getting my hair and make up done. I'm having to settle for wearing a simple bun and painting my own face for the wedding, but I knew that I really wanted to get my jewelry so I decided to at least do that for myself.
When I checked the delivery status on the United States Postal Service site it said that my jewelry had been delivered yesterday. But when I checked my mailbox that package was not inside! The package that was left in my mailbox was an oversize stuffed envelope that barely fit in the mailbox. I had to wrestle the damn thing out. I pulled hard enough and the huge thing came out finally and it was a bit ripped. I could see on the label that this was not my package. It was for my neighbor!
This is not the first time this has happened. The same thing happened with my engagement party invitations. The mail person delivered my invitations to the SAME neighbor whose package I received! So I thought that maybe the mail person who is making these bad deliveries put my package in their mailbox. So I left their package on top of their mailbox when I saw that they were not home for me to leave it in their hands.
Today, my FH checked with my neighbor. The man of the house answered when FH called on them. The man claimed that he did not see our package nor did he receive any other packages. He said he did not get anything in the mail yesterday. I was out jogging when my FH inquired.
I thought that it seemed funny this guy would claim that he did not receive anything when I left their package on top of their mailbox. So when I returned from jogging I called the postal service, complained, and filed a report to start an investigation. Then I went next door to talk to my neighbor.
Instead of talking to the man of the house, who seemed like a shady character to me anyway, I talked to the woman of the house. She was the one who was honest with me about my engagement party invitations. So I felt comfortable enough with inquiring with her, rather than with him.
Sure enough she said that the man had brought in SEVERAL packages yesterday! He lied to my FH and told him that he didn't get anything! Right at that moment, I became suspicious. I explained to the woman that this is my bridal jewelry that I'm looking for and that I really cannot afford to just give away my things like this. I told her that if I don't get my jewelry I may not have ANYTHING to wear on my wedding day as an accessory, and I made sure the man could hear me speaking because he was standing right there. I said I am an honest person, and I know that these are desperate times for some people, but when I saw their package in my mailbox I sat it there on top of their mailbox for them and I knew he did pick it up yesterday since she said that he came in with several packages.
I told them that the post office is doing an investigation now and that they may come knocking on their door. Well, as soon as I said that the man stormed away! He just turned his head from me and went to hide somewhere in the back of their house. I knew I was not going to get anything from them, even if they were hiding it and keeping this jewelry to resell, or hold themselves. So I just asked the woman that if she sees anything or receives anything for me again to please leave it at my door. She said she would and that she was sorry.
Yes, I'm sorry too! Because now I have no idea what I'm going to do. I have no idea if USPS is going to rectify this at all! This is the second time THIS WEEK they have messed up a delivery for something pertaining to my wedding. I almost didn't get my wedding lanterns! But fortunately they fixed the mistake a day later. I'm over it!
Now with just 20 days until my wedding, I'm just praying that it all works out. Meanwhile, I have to try to find a way to borrow a jewelry set from a family member or bridesmaid. It won't be what I want, but God will work it out somehow....
