Fixed it????

Well, I took some suggestions and added a "top" to the gumball pomander - ehhhhhh - it really does look better in person.....really.

I only wish the ribbon I had started with was wired - because what I used was non-wired and floppy.

It was hard to find wired tiffany blue ribbon that was not sparkly - and the gumballs have enough sparkle already.

It's a good thing my "flower girl" is older (nine) or else she might try to chew one!!!

Naw....no gumballs - the larger balls are plastic minature christmas ornaments - the smaller ones are holiday grape clusters from Michaels - I sepearated out each "grape" on a wire and tucked it into the foam ball.

I think you're very creative with your idea....and different....If you don't mind....I would suggest making the bow a little bigger and feathers  a little more poofy and slightly longer...well maybe not longer but slightly more poofy....you've gave an idea...for Christmas I'm going to do some with gumballs for the kids in the family and maybe a few grown-ups.

I agree about both the ribbon and the feathers - I actually looked at doing both - but because the ribbon has no wire it is too floppy - and the feathers are a boa - and to add another layer was too much - so this is really just a prototype - if I could re-do it I would use linear feathers and wired ribbon - but it is what it is - which is my first and last attempt!! There is just too much hot glue to re-do this sucker!! I may carve out the top though and make these changes...if I can find ribbon I like with wire!

Docmartin let me say I do apologize. I don't mean to discourage you or anyone. I know it can be difficult and frustrating at times but  don't give up on it.  I think its really creative. I can tell you put in alot of work on it. Theres nothing wrong with using the feathers from a boa( I do it alot) and the no wire ribbon is fine...I just thought each needed to be a little larger. Once you work it out I know you'll be happy with it and pleased that you still included it in your wedding. Again, I am sorry.

I am in no way offended by any and all suggestions!!! I asked for them and am grateful that anyone takes time to comment on something that has no importance to anyone but me. I really like the WBC community - I find it much more personal and smaller than others.
