Bridesmaids Dresses
Ordered and will be in within a week
I have my ladies the chance to pick their own style of dresses but under the same company and color (dark teal), that way it's all the same material and even though they have their own unqiue style, they still match :)
What do you ladies think?? Please respond either way :) |

Cake Topper
On Sale at Michael's
I didn't really have a specific cake topper in mind when I was looking. Geoff and I were going to order one from a magazine of a football player groom and the bride tackling him (since Geoff is obsessed with football) but with all the taxes and delivery, it would come to like $60, way too much for me. So my niece and I went to Michael's to see what they had and they had one Precious Moments cake topper left, regular $60 for $20. It's cute so I bought it :)

Wedding Flowers
Yellow Gerbera Daisies and Off-white Roses
Hey Ladies,
So this is the combination I have chosen for my bouquet. As for the bridesmaid's bouquets they are getting a bunch of yellow gerbera daisies and same with the centerpieces. If anyone is also choosing a flower this big how many are you roughly having in a bunch or in your vase because I don't want them looking too bare or too full.. Suggestions please! |

Wedding Dress
Finally got it - 5 months to go
Hey girls,
so my experience when looking for a wedding dress was a little unusual; even though I was excited for the end result I was NOT excited for the process. I've been watching so many wedding shows for the past year and a half that I honestly did not know how I would genuinely react to a dress that I loved. I've been to a total of 3 stores before buying my dress and all of them were within 30 min from my house, I didn't have to go to Toronto which kind of shocked me. My original budget was $800 this over the year and a half was streched to $1000 and the final price of my dress was $1135 taxes included, so not bad. The third time I went dress shopping was completely casual and no pressure. I went with my mom, sis, and niece. I tried on about 10 dresses and the saleslady noticed I was very disappointed with EVERY dress I tried on, I didn't know if I was being too picky. So the lady asked me to describe my dream dress and I did (vintage, lace, elegant). The lady left the room and came back with a dress in a see-through bag; this dress was being shipped to its owner that afternoon, but was the ONLY dress in the store that was remotely close to what I described. I tried on the dress, smiled, exclaimed I loved it, and ordered it. That was my experience. Sooo.. what do you guys think of the dress?? |

Engagement Party
Very Fun Event
First of all - I can not believe I am less than 10 months away from getting married, just passed the 300 day mark ahhhhh.. especially when we've already been engaged for 15 months!
Anyway, the engagement party that my mom threw for Geoff and I was amazing - tons of food and lots of fun games. The picture is of Geoff and I after playing a game of men vs. women and trying to get changed as fast as possible in eachother's clothing. We had about 5 people on each side, UNFORTUNATELY the men won - even after putting pearl earrings on. Should have thrown in the nylons. We also got some great gifts too such as a signing plate which we'll use for the wedding, table settings, money and gift cards, alcohol, and dish sets. Pretty nice considering we didn't ask for anything. Anyone else recently just have their engagement party - what did you do? |

Wedding Reception
The Holiday Inn
So a couple of months ago we booked our reception at the Holiday Inn in Barrie - we're on a 10,000 budget so this fit perfectly with our budget needs and it's convienient for guests if they want to stay over night. It also includes a 3 course meal (we haven't decided on the specifics yet)! I'm excited that we have this booked :o) Is there anyone else that's having their wedding at a hotel if not at the Holiday Inn?

Free Engagement Pics
Did I mention FREE??
Because the FH are on such a tight budget we're trying to do a lot of things ourselves or look at really low costs - like many of you. I looked on kijiji for photographers for engagement pictures and you'd be surprised at how many companies are offering free sessions and digital prints - and ones who have plenty of experience and would just like to build up their portfolio. Anyway - we're getting them done May 6th in Toronto, the day after we get back from Montreal for a little getaway. Yayyyy.
Just wondering, if any of you have spent money on engagement pics, how much do they usually run for? Are you including them on your STD's? |
