I just LOVE doing sneak peaks, lol.
I started a new project just this past weekend. It's a little more difficult that I had anticipated at first, but now I have a system and it's going smoothly.
Anyways, it's stiffened yarn balls (LOL! Get your mind out of the gutter!). It involves blowing up ballons, rubbing them with vaseline (YUCK!!) and wrapping yarn around them. Then you put on some fabric stiffener (which I was doing with a paint brush, but my new way of doing it is soaking the string in the fabric stiffeners and then wrap it around the ballon.)
I know you all are just dying to see how it turns out, so be sure to check back for the outcome and instructions!!
Oh.. and today is day 1 of the new healthy lifestyle.. WISH ME LUCK!
almostsparks- Thank you so much for the tip!! I started soaking the yarn in the stiffner and it started working a lot better. If I run out of the stiffner, I may try to use your suggestion!
We're going to use them where we have the guest book and also there is a stage where the DJ is going to be and we're going to put them on the edge of the stage with flameless candles, I think.
I cut the string to a size I wanted to use for the balloon and I soaked it in Stiffy- which is fabric stiffner and wrapped it around a balloon that I rubbed with vaseline and let it sit until COMPLETELY dry. You could also use water and glue, flour and glue, etc.. I used Stiffy because it was easiest and I got it with a 50% off coupon at Michaels.
Then, just pop the balloon and pull out the carcass and voila!! lol! I actually have most of mine finished, I've been meaning to post a picture of them.
