Ask a Question
Should I use the preferred florist?
When I signed my venue contract, I found out that my centerpieces are included. I was a bit skeptical since I've never heard of a venue adding in centerpieces in their package. They work with a local florist who provides, in the words of the coordinator, basic wedding centerpieces.

I am not a "basic" bride and already have an idea of what I want my centerpieces to look like. On top of that, I am extremely picky and like things perfect. Judging by pics I've seen on the venue's site, I am by no means impressed with these basic centerpieces and when my mom asked to see samples of his work, the coordinator said that she had asked the florist to bring some to the venue and he hadnt done so yet which gives me the impression that he's not reliable.

I tried to find some reviews online about the florist and I only found one which was negative. The bride said the florist made a sample of the centerpiece she they talked about and it was different from what she wanted but he assured her it would be corrected for her wedding. However, on her wedding day, the florist still did not get the flowers correct but it was too late for her to do anything about it.

We were told that if we decide to go with another florist, they would credit us $5 a table...only $5! Do you think I should trust this guy or should I just go with my original plan of having an outside florist?

Wedding Reception
The Perfect Location for Us
We have now been engaged for 5 months and decided it was time to start budgeting and planning the wedding.

I chose our wedding colors (black, smoke gray and pink) right after we got engaged but that was about it.

My manager had recently gotten engaged as well and had already started calling venues and making appts to visit differently places. This is when I decided it was time to stop procrastinating and start making decisions. I decided to start with the venue.

I am a very picky person but I am also an impulse buyer. To help you understand, it takes a lot for me to say I like something so when that happens, I buy it!

I looked at a number of venues and nothing quite caught my eye until I came across The Imperia in Somerset, NJ. It was perfect for our wedding! It has such a contemporary feel with a touch of asian influence from the cuisine to the chandeliers. So after we got the approvals of our parents, we booked it!
I've waited so long!
Derek and I met over 6 years ago. We worked together at a retirement home in the dining room. I can by no means say it was love at first sight. Although I thought he was cute, his personality was a little hard for me to grasp. Derek has such a bold demeanor and definitely doesn't hold back when speaking his mind. So for the first few months of our acquaintance, I didn't like him at all lol.

Eventually, I started to understand him and broke through his rough exterior. As the months passed, I grew to really like him and that like grew into a deep love. About a year into our relationship, I knew that he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

Unfortunately, due to our financial situations, we went over 5 years before Derek was able to purchase a ring and propse to me. I must say, it was the happiest day of my life.

He proposed to me on September 13, 2010 on our vacation in Vegas. He had the suite decorated with rose petals and candles and placed the ring box in the center of a heart-shaped candle display.

Derek is not one for words, so his simple "I love you. Will you marry me?" was enough for me!

The ring is perfect for me and I catch myself staring at it all the time <3.

Now, let the wedding planning begin!
