Cool centerpieces if someone needs some ideas!
I found these on a cool site called ABC Distributing. I personally love this site, so while I was browsing I saw these and thought that perhaps they would make wonderful centerpieces for someone's reception! So, I'm going to post the link here if anyone is interested! The first is their site and the other two are direct links to the items I mentioned. Lots of love ladies!

Alternative/gothic wedding dress
Hello everyone! I know it's been a long time since I've been on here (and that I am completely evil and haven't posted pictures of my wedding) but I found this online today and I couldn't keep it to myself! I absolutely ADORE this gown and I think it would make a wonderful wedding dress for any of you ladies out there doing a gothic wedding! Just in case anyone is interested in it, here is the link I found it at:

Please read! You should know!
Something extremely important for all brides!
I would just like to start off by saying that going to the emergency room the morning after your wedding is NOT the funnest thing in the world. I just wanted to warn all of you ladies out there...because this could happen to all of you as well. Okay, so the gist of it all is this...I woke up the morning after my wedding and discovered that I couldn't breath. As I kept attempting to breath, it kept getting harder and harder...finally, I wake my husband and he drives me to the nearest hospital. Apparently, I had a panic attack.

You see ladies, if you stress out too much over your wedding it can affect your health. I don't want the rest of you going through the same thing that I did. Luckily, I didn't leave the country and was safe and sound in the same neighborhood I'm used to...imagine if I had travelled to Mexico or something! Oh, and don't say it can't happen to you because it can! Apparently, it's common for brides who try to take on everything themselves...and I've never had a panic attack before, so it's not like I was more prone to it than anyone else.

So ladies, don't try to do too much...I had gotten little sleep the week of the wedding...less than three hours before the wedding. I was only able to choke down a chicken burger and at the wedding I was only able to take about three bites of my meal...I was running around and I was so busy...my morning had started at 6AM and didn't end until after midnight. They said I was running on pure adrenaline and that as soon as it was all over, my body crashed. So ladies, let this be a warning to you...don't do everything yourself! Get help, from family, friends, and whomever else you can think of! No matter what you do SOMETHING will go wrong with your wedding! Don't make yourself sick trying to make things perfect ladies...just remember you get to marry the man you love and kep everything else simple. I love you ladies...good luck!

Suits/tux
I don't know one from the other. Lol.
So, I don't know a suit from a tux. I have no clue how to tell the two apart. So, reguardless of which one we've got, I just wanted to let ya'll know that we do have them (although I hadn't posted about it yet) and I wanted to give ya'll a sneak peak at what we've got.

The groomsmen all went in and got fitted and they will be wearing an all brown suit/tux very similar to the one pictured. The suit/tux we got for them has a pocket square (same color as vest and tie) though. They will all be wearing the sage/celery green color that matches the bridesmaids vests for their pocket square, vest, and tie.

Our ushers will be in all brown...almost exactly like the guy pictured, but again, they will have a pocket square.

My father is in the same brown suit/tux...however...his vest is an ivory and champagne mix that is textured as opposed to the satin everyone else has. My daddy is going to match me more. :-)

Last, but not least, my FH. I went with him to his fitting (and yes, I got to see him try on part of his outfit) and he is going to look AMAZING! He will look very similar to the picture on the left, except his vest will match his tie and pocket square. :-) So, champagne/tan jacket, ivory shirt, brown pants, brown vest, brown tie, brown pocket square, and brown shoes. I saw him in the shirt and jacket and he looked so yummy that I gave him a huge kiss right there in the store. Lol.

I can't wait to see all of my guys!

Oh, I almost forgot why I posted this...The store called us today. (They're the best decision we made this entire wedding btw.) They didn't have bowties for the two ringbearers and had to change it over to neckties (like the groomsmen.) Normally, it's a $15 charge to change it, but because they found out they didn't have the bowties, they changed it over for free. Also, the bowties were cheaper than the neckties in the first place (at least I think that's what we were told), so we got neckties for our ringbearers for the price of bowties! Woot. The reason this is so great is because we had thought about changing it over to the bowties about 50 different times, but we didn't think we could afford to make the change...so we got what we wanted in the end at the cheapest possible price! We're so excited!

Weight loss...
Helpful info. if you're counting calories!
Okay, so I was always wondering why weight loss was so much harder than weight gain. I tried the whole "counting calories" thing, but nobody had really explained it to me. I had started "counting calories" and I was always under the amount that was recommended, but I wasn't losing weight...even though I was exercising with this. All of the "low fat" food I bought kinda felt stupid at that point. Let me tell you something that can make "counting calories" just a little bit easier. Once I knew this piece of information, it made more sense.

One pound of fat is equal to about 3500 calories.

That means that if you eat an extra 350 calories of food a day, which is about equal to a large piece of cake or a medium milk shake, you would gain an extra pound every 10 days (350x10). Or you would gain a pound in about 20 days if you eat or drank an extra 175 calories a day (175x20).

On the other hand, eating 175 fewer calories a day would mean that you could lose a pound every 20 days.

Or if you kept your diet the same, but burned an extra 175 calories a day by exercising more, then again, you could lose a pound in about 20 days.

So, eating foods that are "low fat" may not be enough to stop you from gaining weight, depending on how much you exercise! So, if you're at a stand-still in your weight-loss and you can't figure out why, give an extra look to how much fat is in your foods, calculate the fat into calories, and see if that helps you to keep it all into perspective! (Sorry if this is a waste of time to some of you ladies, but I hope it will help those who didn't know!)

Oh, I got this information from about.com...just so ya'll know.

Wedding Cake
What do you ladies think?
Okay, so we fired our baker...it's a long story and I'm not going into it again at this time, but basically that left us going crazy trying to replace her. After another tasting where I hated all the cakes, I thought to myself...I can do this! If I had to sacrafice taste or look...I'm gonna have great tasting cake! So, that being said, I wanted to run by what I'm planning on doing with you ladies and see what you think.

For the top layer:
Italian cream cake with coconut cream cheese filling. (No coconut on the outside...for decorating purposes.)

For the middle layer:
Carrot cake with cream cheese filling.
(Homemade family recipie passed down for generations and a highly guarded secret...this is the best cake I've EVER had in my life and it does NOT taste like nasty spice cake!)

For the bottom layer:
Red velvet pound cake with cream cheese filling.

The entire cake would be frosted in cream cheese icing (the kind you'd find at a baker's...not the kind at Wal-Mart) and each tier would be in the shape of a hexagon. Each side would have some type of border (thinking of doing small flowers cascading down from the top of each layer) and the middle layer would have a beautiful monogram (similar to the second picture).

Keep in mind that my family and friends will be giving me tons of help on this. My mother did some cake docorating in the past and one of her friends bakes cakes out of her home as a kind of side business now that she's retired. My FSIL is trying to get into cake decorating, so she knows tricks on how to tint frosting different colors and stuff too. I've made lots of cakes, and with all these professionals at my back to ask all my questions to, I'm sure I'll be able to do this with no problems. (Plus, it's cheaper to do it myself!) However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this cake...not them! I want to do it 'cause I think I'll make myself proud!

So ladies, what do you think? Does it offer enough variety to please every person's tastes between my cake and FH's cake? Would you find something you'd eat on this cake? Let me know what you think of my flavors!

FH's groom's cake is chocolate ganache...and I can't wait for you to see the pics of it. We did hire a baker for his cake.

Oh, the cake we were origionally going for was the last cake...we would have used our engagement pictures on it...however, doing that myself is near impossible...I'll see if I can get the right equipment for it by the time our anniversary rolls around!

In loving memory...
Since his Pawpaw just passed away...
So, we found out today that Richie's Pawpaw passed away. We were thinking of putting out something like this...it's called a memorial vase. You put it out with a pen and everyone signs it. We were thinking of taking a boquet of roses and placing in it and playing the song "Remember When" in loving memory of all of those people who were there with us in spirit (since his other grandfather passed on last year as well.) Anyway, we were thinking of taking the vase to his gravesite after the wedding is over. I don't know if this will work and it's really the first thing we've thought of. Honestly, we're a little afraid of doing it. There are many who won't be there with us, but Pawpaw is the most recent. Is it wrong to do something for him and not for those who have passed previously? We like the idea, but we're also afraid it will cause too many tears. Is it wrong to want to do this? Has anyone else done this? How did you handle it? Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you ladies. (Oh, and thank you all for the kind words on my previous post when we first found out...knowing we have your support and knowing we've all gone through it helps us to remember to be strong.)

Thanks.

Our Shower
It was followed by the worst news ever!
Our shower was Friday. Everything was beautiful (sorry, I don't have pics yet) and we got great gifts from everyone. The family got together at his Aunt Penny's house (she threw the shower for us) and it was great to get together with everyone! The next day, we went shopping around to pick up some more wedding necessities and stopped by his mother's to have his sister help us with the programs. Well, we woke up this morning to see nine missed calls on our phone. We never have that many calls, so we knew right away that something was wrong.

Last night, Richie's Pawpaw passed away...he went in his sleep. It was hard news to hear. We knew he wasn't doing too well, but since we had just seen him Friday at the shower...it's still a little hard to imagine him...

FH is taking it pretty well. Considering the fact that we have to meet with the DJ tonight and he didn't want to cancel, I'd say that's taking it well. We don't know what the funeral arrangements are yet, but I'm sure we'll find out soon. With everything that has gone wrong with the wedding, this is by far the worst. I'd take everything x3 if I could have Pawpaw with us again, but at the same time...we all must move on. We haven't had a hurricane all season, but today we also found out one might be swinging our way...which also sucks. I just hope that doesn't interfere with Pawpaw's funeral. Well, we're going to go try to finish up, but it's hard to concentrate on wedding stuff right now.

Centerpieces!
Great find! Target may just hold the key to my happiness!
So, many of us have seen DIY instructions for a rotating pictureframe card box on this site. (See second picture for a visual!) Basically, take four picture frames, attatch it to a lazy susan, and add pictures to each side. It's a lovely idea and I'd never seen anything like it before. I fell in LOVE with the idea, but instead of using it for a cardbox I figured I'd use them for centerpieces! However, we couldn't find a cheap lazy susan and FH was really concerned about this project (probably 'cause I told him I wanted his help with it! Lol.) and was glad when I told him it would be one of the last things we'd tackle.

Well, we were in Target looking for some cake pans and ended up browsing around in different areas. When we walked down one of the main aisles, I saw picture frames. I've been trying to find some cute frames that were cheap for this project, so I went looking and guess what I found! I found EXACTLY what I was looking for! Lol. It's four picture frames on a lazy susan...only there's no lid like in the card box. I want to put my roses in the top by putting a glass vase inside the frame box and filling the vase like normal. I literally did a little happy dance right there in the store. They had six in the store (which was less than we needed) so we didn't buy any of them. We're going today to another Target located nearby (city FH works at called Covington) to see if they have any additional spinning picture boxes. If they do, we're buying all the ones that have at the store and if we need more we'll come back to the store here in Hammond to pick up the rest. I'M SO EXCITED! The only flaw to this otherwise fairytale find is that the pictures you put in the frame is 3x4...so it's a tiny little thing! I was hoping for a 4x6 version of this, but I'll take what I can get. I'm just worried it will look too small in the middle of our 60 inch round tables. I will, however, have tea lights on the table, as well as rose petals, so I think it'll be alright. They are a little more expensive than we were wanting to spend, but FH said that since I had decided to DIY the wedding cake (yes ladies, I'm going to be crazy enough to give up and just do it myself! I'll post pictures to show my triumph!) that it put extra money into our fund...so he's going to let me get them! (I think he just wants to avoid having to help with the DIY frame project personally! Lol.) Regardless, this should be a great day. The only way it will not be a wonderful day is if we can't find more of these little babies tucked away at another locations. However...I'll make it work!
