Ask a Question
aisle runner a slippery situation

After some much uneeded drama from my venue, my wedding plannner got the venue to agree to let us have an aisle runner. They say that aisle runners are not prohibited, they are just highly discouraged. They told my planner "Since you are not allowed to use any sort of adhesive that will leave a mark or residue on the wood floors, it's challenging for the runner to stay put without moving".
There is a grappling tape that you can use, but according to them the
aisle runner stills moves and bunches. Has anyone used a aisle runner on wood floors? I REALLY REALLY wanted to purchase an damask aisle runner on etsy, but its just regular cloth i would imagine very lightweight and would slip like she said. Is there a trick to getting an runner to stay down? Help me please.

yes VERY slippery! I have been to a few weddings where the brides shoe gets caught in the runner...including my own!

Maybe you could use some of that blue sticky tack meant for holding up pictures and posters on the wall. Like, use a lot of it!

we had a similar issue, as our runner was on concrete and there was no way to tack it down. We bought flat tiles from home depot/lowe's and wrapped them with the same fabric as the runner (wrap the tiles as you would a regular box and use hot glue as adhesive). If you can purchase extra fabric from the person on etsy you can wrap the tiles with it and place them all along the edge of the runner, helping to keep it down. If you line the runner with rose petals on each side this will help cover it even more.
