DIY Wedding
annamarie's last two weeks to-do list
Only 17 days until I become a wife! I am so excited. And surprisingly, not stressed. We've still got a few things left to do but I'm hoping to get them done with the next week.
My still-need-to-dos - Meet with DJ, give him final payment and must play list - Finish Ceremony Programs - Make sure flowergirl dresses fit - Sew table squares - Buy mascara and foundation - Shorten straps on second dress - Paint ceremony backdrop - Make ceremony aisle runners - Buy best man's present - Finalize seating chart Eek! It's so close. Off to finish up my ceremony programs! |

Wedding Dress
annamarie's dress is completely paid for!
Today a friend from work and I went down to the Bridal Store to pay for the rest of my dress. I got to try it on with everything - shoes, underwear, jewelry, everything. I'm so happy with how it all looks. I feel like a princess.
Here's a break down of my costs: Dress $517.50 - Deposit paid by my mother. Veil $271.20 - Gift from my father. Headband $18.65 Jewelry $36.50 Shoes $67.77 Underwear $16.07 Garter $28.74 Total cost of my day of look: $956.43 Total amount we paid: $430.98 |

My FSIL sent us two different cake toppers. Our baker is making a Monogram for the top of the cake but these toppers a BEAUTIFUL. We've decided we would use them as decor on our cake table.

While shopping for Bridesmaid dress I was checking out the headbands. So super expensive. There wasn't a headband under $100.
I found this one at Claire's for $15. I love the little daisy-like flowers. It looks just like the headbands I was seeing in the bridal salons. |

I wanted Bling for the wedding day and let me tell you, it was not in the budget. So I went down to Ardene's and got these earring, necklace and bracelet for under $50.
Actually it was only about $30. The necklace and earring set was $25 and the bracelet was $10. But they had a buy one get one half price sale. You can't even tell that it's not real diamonds unless you look closely. |

The search for my perfect shoes was not easy. FH is a short ass. He's about half an inch shorter than I am and I'm only 5'4". Originally I was going to wear flats but finding flats I liked and matched my dress was impossible.
So I got FH to agree that I could wear little heels. These shoes of from the Vianna Collection adn I got them on sale for only $60. I love the little bows on them. Can't wait to try them on with my dress. |

Wedding Cake

Last Sunday FH, his mommy and I went to meet out baker. She's great. We'd been emailing back and forth for a couple weeks already so she knew what we wanted.
We are getting the cake the left. However she's going to add a white trim on the bottom of each layer in a fondant lace that looks a lot like my dress. We're also getting a monogramed F out of sugar paste/gum paste/whatever she called it on top of the cake as our cake topper. The cake is enough to serve 95 people. We only plan on 100 guests and not everyone will have a piece so that's fine. The cost was $300 + $20 delivery fee + $5 for our monogramed F. Total: $325. Pretty great for a cake. Even better? My future MIL paid for it. Free cake always tastes the best. ;) |

I've really liked the idea of making a piece of art become out centrepiece. We are on a tight, nothing more than the minimal budget. So buying some of the lovely tree guestbooks off of Etsy was not an option.
After Christmas Michaels had this canvas on sale for $20. I bought sharpies for our guests to sign it with which cost $10. I bought the paint at the Dollarama - $5. Total: $35 Along with our guestbook will be a sign that reads: "Today as we join our family trees, Please take a moment to sign the leaves" It's already hanging above our couch where it will stay once it's been signed by all of our guests. |

annamarie's Personalized Hangers, kinda.
I love the idea of having a pretty hanger to hang my dress on the day of but I didn't love the cost of them. Also, I thought FH needed one too since it's both of our special days - not just mine.
We bought the hangers at Dollarama ($2 for 3.) and a woodburner from Michaels ($20). A total of $22 which is about the cost to buy one personalized hanger. FH made the bride one and his best friend/"First Man" made the groom one. It only took about 45 minutes to do them both but I'm sure it would have gone faster if either of them had actually know what they were doing. I'm really happy with how they turned out. I can't wait to hang my dress and his suit up for photos on the day of. |
