The Proposal
I had no clue...
Okay so I haven't really explained the proposal - or shown you my sparklie yet! (yes I nicked named ring "sparklie").
So, we had gone up to Scott's parents place in Port Elgin. The plan was to spend the day relaxing because I had worked four 15 hour days in a row and was completely exhausted. I was a bit wary of going to see his family only because it's usually so chaotic and I never really relax when I'm up there. We spend so much time visiting EVERYONE that I feel more tired when I leave then I do before I go up. Anyway, the day was kinda overcast and we had really wanted to go for a walk on the beach. Oh - as an aside - when Scott and I first starting dating almost four years ago walks on the beach were our thing. It really is breath-taking up there. Another really big thing for us was taking his dad's ATV out for a ride and watching the sunset. One of my most favourite memories is when Scott had taken me for a ride up to the highest point on the land so we could watch the the pink and purple sky as the sun set. It was beautiful. I knew then that he was the one I was going to marry. So, I digress. Back to the story -- we had arrived at his parents place just around 3ish after almost a three hour drive. We hung out at his parents for a bit, had a BBQ and then the plan was to go hang out at his sisters house (visit his neice, etc. etc.). We had gotten into a few little spats throughout the day because I had really wanted to spend some time at the beach and just have some down time to ourselves before visiting. Just before dinner we were able to make it down to the beach. The sun was out, but it was chilly so we just walked until we found a bench to sit on and watch the clouds, waves, kids swimming, etc. I must say that there was just something a little off with him -- he was almost stand-offish -- I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I knew that he was going to propose at some point, but honestly, because of our spats and the oddness of the day, I was convinced it wasn't going to be that day. So, I put that thought out of my head and enjoyed the moments with him. Later that night, after dinner, we headed off to his sisters house. Upon our arrival, his sister had mentioned that there was a recent shipwreck on the shore (they also live by the water, just on a different side) and it was so awesome that we had to take the ATV down and see it. Surprisingly his brother-in-law let us take his ATV (which he never does b/c he's so damn paranoid that we'll break it). So we gear up and get ready to head down to the water. It was still overcast but you could see the sun trying to poke through. Our ride was awesome (I love the ATV rides)....lots of bugs tho so it was funny to have bugs hit our glasses and helmets. I know I swallowed a few bugs!!! When we get down to the water we begin searching for the shipwreck - apparently you could see it from the shore. As we are driving along the strip, the sky was changing all kinds of blues, pinks, and purples. IT was so pretty. BUT...we could not find the ship....nothing in sight. We decided to head back and Scott suggested we try looking in another direction on the beach. He found this little trail that took us to a secluded beach area. We stop the quad and get out to see the shore. The sky at this point was so beautiful so we stopped to just enjoy it. After a few more minutes of looking and not finding anything, I had suggested we get back before his BIL started to freak out. On our way back to the quad, Scott took me by the hand and said, "let's just enjoy this sunset". So, we rested ourselves on the quad and watched the sky again. He began to tell me how much he loved me and that he hoped one day we would have a nice piece of land by the water so we could watch the sunset every night. He leaned in to hug me, and as he did, he whispered "baby, will you do me a favour?" I pulled away and "yes, babe anything".....it was then that he got down on one knee there on the beach and asked, will you be my wife forever?. I immediately began to cry - in complete disbelief that after our crazy day we were standing on the beach engaged!!! We cried, hugged, kissed, and laughed b/c.....there was never a shipwreck. It was all a ploy to get me to the beach unsuspecting. He and his sister, BIL (and my dad believe it or not) had it all planned out. It was so beautiful and so memorable b/c being with him in the country, by the water, as the sun set, has and will always be my favourite moments with him. Now, sunsets up north will never be the same! I still can't believe he picked me!!! |

My Menu Sample
I did it all by myself!!
Hey gang - I'm back! Sorry my internet was down and I wasn't able to get on until now. Oh how I missed this site and all my WBC friends.
I can't believe the wedding is in less than 90 days! OMG!! So, after some deliberation, I finally decided to do menus for the tables. My initial thought was to have just one framed as guests came in, but I decided that with only three tables and the head table, I could take on this project! Here is the sample that I came up with. The tree symbol matches our tree theme and I thought adding some falling leaves went nicely with the bare tree. This is just my rough draft. I forgot to add our soup and I have to move a few things here and there and change the font colour in a few places, but I thought I'd post to see what you think. I will be printing them on pearlize cardstock -- see my invitation paper. Everything will match!! :) I have started a webshop on Etsy and have posted my monograms and creations there. Right now I'm developing my portofolio and will my earnings I'm going to purchase more software and maybe take a few graphic design courses. I really really enjoying creating things for others....lately it's been my therapy! So tell me what you think of my design.....would love some feedback. *hugs to all of you* |

Playing around with fonts!
Wow, I had so much fun playing around with all my new fonts from dafont.com!! SERIOUSLY...you gotta try it out!!
Thanks to Futuredrbraun -- awesome recommendation!! :) :) I'm going to make some more monograms -- but here is my first shot at it!! I was looking for something for our aisle runner. I know I purchased a few already....but I'm so happy I know how to make my own now. Oh the projects I can do now! : ) I used Microsoft publisher to make this and was even able to save it as a jpeg file and can cut and paste into work documents at various sizes!! |

Invitation Sample is ready!
Here is a sample of our invitations. We are so thrilled with them. Because we wanted something a bit different and to save a bit of money on the paper costs, we decided to make our invitations one long sheet of paper.
It opens up length wise into three sections, with the last panel being a perforated reply post card. We really liked all the other invitations with all the fancy inserts, but this was more within our budget AND it was something we have never seen before. By doing it this way, we cut costs on the additional paper and envelops. The colours match our theme perfectly and the wording is simple and sweet. I love them! We even cut costs by opting to put them together ourselves, e.g., putting on the sparkles and front label. I'm really excited about that...it still gives the feel that I've done some of the work myself. My MOH and I are going to put them together over a few bottles of wine!! tee hee!! Seeing the invitation really makes everything a reality!! I"M GETTING MARRIED!!! Holy cr@p!! |

Relocating to the Northwest Territories!!
OMG, what have I done?
Okay - so I have yet to share this information because I was waiting to hear the final word.
So - it's official- I've been offered and accepted a counsellor/therapist position for the Government of the Northwest Territories. We now will be relocating from our home in London Ontario to Holman (Ulakhatak) just off the coast of the Victoria Island. I was hoping and praying that they would allow me to wait and move after the wedding. Nope - life is never that easy. They want me to start August 17th. What does this mean? Well...it means that in two months I need to pack up my life and move to the Arctic for my new job. Then, come back for the wedding at the end of September. Needless to say I'm excited...but I'm also FREAKIN' OUT! Most of the big wedding stuff is done - venue, flowers, dress, photographer, videographer, DJ, etc. The stuff that is left is the small stuff...but tedious stuff...all the little things that I can't forget. Scott and went to Starbucks last Saturday morning and hashed out what we need to do. The list seems long...but I know I can get it done. My biggest worry is the weight I have to lose....I just want to look perfect for the day. I don't care if it rains......the food tastes like crap....i just want to look good! Ahhhh...I feel so overwhelmed....the next few months are going to be complete chaos!!! What the heck have I gotten myself into!?!!?!?! |

Need to drop the pounds...
Hey gang --
I hate this kind of post -- but I need to lose some weight. I've gained quite a bit since moving in with the boy...I've adopted his eating habits. Today I realized that I have about 120 days till the wedding and I need to get back in shape asap. I also realized that most of my problems are due to my own poor food choices over the past few months. Thankfully, my body responds well to the TLC of proper food and exercise. As of today - it is my DAY 1 of Power 90!! I'm ready to make the necessary sacrifices to get my bottom, back, and arms in shape for my wedding. I keep thinking of how disappointed I'll be if I don't look the way I want to....so enough is enough...I'm just going to do it!!! Any one want to join me? Any tips, tricks or suggestions? It would be awesome to get a group of ladies together for motivation!!! Let's get ready to be sexy brides!!! *hugs* to all! |
