Fiancee's Birthday this week...what to get?!

HELP! It's my fiancee's birthday this week, and he is expecting something great! I made the suggestion of toning down our birthday's and Christmas this year, just because of the wedding. Well he got pretty quiet, so now I feel awful. I think he thinks because he went all out and bought me a ring, I should kind of return the favour. I honestly thinks he wants to feel special, because the whole wedding thing is really a girl thing. So now I'm stuck...

So far I'm thinking of buying him a nice pair of deck shoes, as he loves his shoes, and they are really popular right now. I was also thinking of adding some Grey Goose to the gift as well.

What do you ladies think? What would you do if you were me?

hi ashley!  first off congrats! (it's sarah's pam by the way)

if it were me and the way you are describing it, what if you just did something really nice for him??  plan a night all about him, maybe make him dinner or take him out somewhere or do something that he really likes to do but you don't very often.  sorry kinda vague but you get the idea.

Sounds great. I love the cake you have pictured, that alone would be enough I think! my FH personally doesn't like gifts, if he wants it he gets it so I'm always stuck in situations like our anniverseries/birthdays and Valentines day! I also try to do nice things for him, why don't you make him a nice cake and have a picnic? even if you just set one up in your living room! I did this for my FH one year and he loved it.. I had wine and everything, it was really romantic =)

Thanks for your help ladies!  I think you are both right.  This gift should be less materialisitc and more about doing something nice.  We ARE going to Darien Lake this weekend with 5 other couples, so I could kind of make a big deal of his birthday there and surprise him with a cake in front of everyone.  He loves being the centre of attention! LOL
