DIY Wedding
You'll LOVE this ... I promise!

I am sitting here filling in for my parents at our bussiness today and it is a very slow day. I think everyone is out doing mad rush Christmas shopping, luckily I am not one of them for the first time this year! So I thought i'd share another DIY that is a fairly simple and very rewarding.

This DIY memo board is a great idea for a wedding. For those of you looking for an alternative to a guest book, this is the way to go! You can make a large memo board or two small ones and have some note cards allowing your guests to leave warm wishes to the newlweds, advice on a lasting loving relationsip, or maybe even pictures of themseves with a message on the back! I love the idea and wish I had more time to make one for my wedding.

Items you will Need:

1. Thin wood board or old wooden cabinet doors
2. Fabric of choice (you can find chep fabric in clearnce bins at any fabric store)
3. Quilter’s batting
4. Ribbon of choice
5. Staple gun
6. Pretty tacs used for Scrapbooking or Buttons
7. Hot Glue Gun

Step 1: Align your cabinet door or thing wood board on top of your quilter’s batting and fabric. Use two layers of batting to give it a hint more tufting. You can glue the batting down if you'd like, but use minimal glue to avoid seeping through the batting.

Step 2: Attach your fabric to your cabinet door with a staple gun. Secure corners last. Be sure to pull fabric tightly to decrease rippled fabric, this is KEY!

Step 3: Lay out your ribbon on the top of your fabric covered door in a grid pattern. Allow extra ribbon to overlap over the sides so you can later secure it to the back. You can add more or less ribbon for tighter weave and increase available slots for wishing cards.

Step 4:For this step you can either use pliers to stabilize nail heads and then pound into wood with a rubber head mallet. However, I prefer to use my staple gun and staple the the ribbon down where it overlaps eachother and hot glue gun buttons or pretty tacks to the depressed area where the nail heads are in this picture.

And viola, you will have a similar finished project in your patterns and colors of course.

I hope you ladies enjoy this DIY ... if not for the wedding, you can make these as gifts or use them in your house to hold pictures, tickets and just about anything else! I have found a great poem below for you to frame if you chooses to make one of these as a wishing board for your wedding!

These cards will be
for our wedding book
a modern twist
on the standard look.

As we begin our Journey
A brand new Mr. and Mrs.
We could surely use
Your Advice and good Wishes.
Jot down a Memory,
A reminder of the day.
Draw a doodle or picture
If your not sure what to say.

Share with us your Wisdom
About Marriage, Love, and Life,
The secret to being a good Husband
Or a thoughtful, loving Wife.

Please don't forget
It would be such a shame
to hang your card on the board
Without signing your Name.

Give us words of love or fun
Write or draw your own design.
Hang it on the memo board once you’re done!
