Ceremony Progress!
Time is Flying!!
Wow! Time is so getting away from me. Trying to still finish my thesis before we fly home for the wedding in less than a month and also running a show with 60 kids in the cast has made the time fly!
Lots of progress has been made! Gavin and I went to the tux place today and got our account all set up for our guys. There will be 12 in total in penguin suits on our day so we wanted to get it set up early. Also today we got a phone call from our jeweler called and said our wedding rings are done and ready to be picked up. Due to my crazy schedule, we'll be in downtown LA sharp tomorrow morning by 10:30am to pick them up!! I can't wait to see them! Also today I ordered our sand ceremony set. (See the picture, minus the flowers) It comes engraved which we are totally excited about and will be picking up sand when we get home at a craft store. That's it for now. We're currently working on our wedding ceremony script and finalizing readings and music! Only 43 more days! |

Wedding Invitation
Invitations, Wedding Rings, & the best MOH ever!
Hey Everyone! Almost down to 2 months to go! Things have been really crazy around here. A show on Friday, Graduation/Move In Day on Saturday, and 2 shows on Sunday...it's crazy. In the mean time...our invitations arrived last night and Gavin and I sat in the living room and assembled all 100 of them! Then Jenny, my MOH, came over and personalized all of the inner envelopes because my handwriting blows. So, I'm wanting to get all of them in the mail on Monday, our 2 month mark. There are pictures of them assembled and apart and close up. I love the way they turned out and the font is great!
Gavin and I purchased our wedding rings last week in downtown LA. Mine looks antiqued and is very simple, which is what I wanted. Gavin was trying to find a ring to match his father's but nothing was identical. The jeweler then said to Gavin that if his parents could send him pictures, he would make one that would be identical!!! I'm so happy for him that his is going to get exactly what he wanted. Lastly, Gavin and I went to our friends Matt and Michelle's wedding last Sunday. It was beautiful and classy in every way. It made Gavin and I reflect on our own special day coming up and things we liked or forgot and such...I'm so excited! It's going to be here before we know it! |

Updates Updates Updates
Down to the last 100 days!
I can't believe that there are only 100 days until Gavin and I say I do! I can't wait. There is a lot that has to happen before that day (thesis approved, graduating, moving, starting new job, etc...) so I'm trying to get those things done before focusing on what's left to do.
We did get a pastor secured. Gavin has talked to the minister who married his mom and dad so we're excited about that. I had a meeting with the florist and got the invoice back within budget...score! Plus, I'm going to get my beautiful green lady slipper orchids which I am sooooo excited about. All of the save the dates have been sent out and we've ordered parts of our favors online. Also all of the dresses have arrived in 4 different states and they are all the right style and color that were ordered...whew! Back in March my family and Gavin's family threw me an amazing wedding shower. It was the best! 2 of my southern bridesmaids were able to attend as well. They came the night before and it was great to catch up with both of them. Thank you to everyone who came/organized the day, it was fantastic. Also, May 9th is my west coast bachelorette party which I'm super excited about! Jenny & Michelle have planned it and I'm sure have some things up their sleeves :) I was told to register at Fredricks of Hollywood so Gavin's ears have perked up! What's left to do: - order invitations - order unity sand ceremony pieces - put favors together - order programs - purchase wedding rings - decide on wedding party gifts - take picture for the newspaper announcement I think that's it. I'm so excited. Gifts from the registry have been pouring in and our 2nd bedroom is stuffed. Thank you to everyone who has sent us stuff, we can't wait to load it into our new place in June. |

Save the Dates & Bridesmaid's Shoes
Getting the To Do list completed
Time is really flying!! I was really hoping it would but it could slow up just a little bit. Save the date magnets were ordered. Hopefully they'll be here by the end of this week. In the mean time I'll be buying address labels so I can print them off instead of writing all of them.
Also decided on the girls' shoes!! They are gorgeous! I love them so much. I'm tempted to buy a pair myself. Other things to do in the next week or so: - find an officiant - decide on a date for engagement photo shoot - order cake topper - find and order unity sand and container So far so good on other things. The shower back home is being planned by my mother, Gavin's mom, Gavin's cousin and aunt, along with 2 of my aunts. My MOH is planning a single ladies/baccalaureate party/lingerie event in CA so that will be so much fun :) Hope everyone likes the shoes & magnets |

Wedding Dress
1st Fitting - IT FIT!!! YES!
Gavin and I flew back to the Midwest for the holidays. A few days before we flew I received a phone call that the dress I ordered in August had arrived. So, I scheduled a fitting and low and behold IT FIT!! I was scared because I was packing a few more pounds than I was in August when I tried it on, but I sighed a huge sigh of relief once it was zipped up!
What do you think? I wanted satin, all white, simple and light. It is SUPER comfortable as I knew the heat of August would make me sweaty and itchy so I LOVE IT!! They took it in around the bust so I wont' be yanking it all night and then did the hem as well. I will have another appointment in March so hopefully a couple of pounds will have shed, or overall it just fits again. Hope you like it!! |

Bridesmaids
Finally Decided!
I've always dreamed of my bridesmaids having different dresses, and it's coming true!! My MOH and another bridesmaid helped me narrow the choices down to 3 (and maybe a 4th if someone wants it). All three are chiffon with satin accents and they will all be Glass Green. The 2 on the ends have flowing hems that go from short to longer and the one in the middle is just a straight across cocktail length hem. My MOH chose the one on the far left and Michelle chose the one in the middle. I've had 2 other girls express interest in the one on the far left.
Exciting!! I really like them and because the 2 girls ordered them when they did, they were able to get a discount! So, now we're on the look out for shoes and I know I have to get mine ASAP because of my fitting during the holiday. |

Wedding Photography
Photographer Booked and Odds and Ends
After putting off for a really long time of trying to find a photographer in our area and was available...I finally decided and sent the email and did it!! We'll be using Stephen Peeck's Photography (http://www.peeckphotos.com/homepage.htm) based out of Centralia, IL. I met Stephen a while ago. He shot my senior pictures back in 2002. When I was on his website, I found my photo still posted which made me excited and he also had a photo up that he took from a wedding at The Falls!!! So after asking about prices and availability, everything fell into place and we have him booked for our special day!!!! When Gavin and I fly back to the Midwest for Christmas, we'll be swinging by his studio to drop off the deposit! YES!!
So that is marked off our to do list! Other things yet to do are: - meet with the coordinator at Christmas to discuss all the details of the ceremony and the reception (cake style and flavors, dinner choices, etc...) - find someone to marry us (yikes!) - finalize music - decide on wedding party gifts - finalize Honeymoon plans - lose weight (another yikes) - purchase our wedding bands - finalize readings - purchase unity sand and containers - get girls to choose and order their dresses - pick shoes out for them and for me I think that's it, which makes me really excited! I wanted to try and finish a lot by Christmas since I will have another show to start working on along with writing my thesis for my MFA and looking for a new place to live!! Here we go! |

Wedding Hair Style
I want something in my hair...
I am not wearing a veil. I've never liked the idea of having one just because it's traditional. So, I'm thinking about having something else in my hair. A flower or something like the first picture? I dunno. I know I want it up because it will be hot and it has to be simple. My hair will hold NO curl what so ever! Any other ideas?

Wedding Flowers
What is the name of this Flower????
So I have found this amazing flower in quite a few bouquets online and in magazines and I can't find the name for it. It is in the first 2 pictures on the left. They have white petals and green lines/veins through them. I LOVE THEM!! I would love to have them in the bouquets, the flowers for the men, and one in my hair. I just need to know their name and wondering what season they fall in. The other pictures are just types of flowers that I have really liked. Let me know what you think!!

Wedding Cake
Cake Options
As a part of our wedding day package through The Falls, a cake from MacCarthur's bakery is provided. There are about 6 different styles and shapes that you can choose from, here are my 2 favorites. I like the first one's scroll work on it, minus the flowers. None of the cakes come with flowers but I might decide later to add a few for a hint of green. I think it will be a small 3 tiered cake but might bump it up to 4 depending on how many the 3 will feed. Let me know what you think
